Shakira had fans talking on Sunday night after she was seen sharing a warm moment with Spain's Ferran Torres following the team's win at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.
The 49-year-old Colombian singer appeared alongside comedian Kevin Hart, 47, to present the 26-year-old forward with the Man of the Match award after he scored the decisive goal against Argentina during the World Cup final. As she congratulated Torres, the two were seen chatting and smiling together, prompting immediate reactions online.
Fans quickly took to social media to comment on the interaction, with some bringing up Shakira's former partner, retired soccer star Gerard Piqué. The pair were together for 11 years before their highly public split in June 2022.

One person wrote on X, "Shakira handing him MOTM... Torres [is] winning on and off the pitch tonight." Another added, "Torres won her heart... he's gonna eat good."
The moment also highlighted Shakira's continued presence at the global tournament. The 2026 event marks her fourth time being involved with the World Cup, surpassing Piqué's three appearances as a player for Spain in 2010, 2014, and 2018.

Shakira first performed at the World Cup in Germany in 2006, then in South Africa in 2010, and in Brazil in 2014. Over the years, she has become closely associated with the event, especially after performing "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" at the 2010 closing ceremony, where she first met Piqué.
Their relationship ended amid reports that the singer discovered he had been unfaithful to his now-girlfriend, Clara Chía.

Since the breakup, Shakira has spoken openly about the emotional toll and how she worked through it. In a 2024 interview with GQ Spain, she explained how creating her album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran helped her process the separation.

She continued, "Those lessons just make us better," before adding, "I always thought that I was more fragile or weaker than what life proved me to be."
Shakira and Piqué share two sons, Milan, 13, and Sasha, 11.
Despite the past, the singer has maintained a strong connection to the World Cup. Speaking about the tournament, she said, "Every World Cup is really magical, and I think this one is going to be all about bringing people together in this very sensitive moment in time, socially and politically." She added, "I have this connection with [soccer] that seems unbreakable."
