With Argentina, England, France and Spain just two games from glory, we compare how the four semi-finalists have performed so far to get an idea of who could lift the World Cup this weekend.

While all the teams have played six games, Argentina have played an hour of football more than France and Spain thanks to games going to extra time (and England half an hour more), so we've taken playing time into account to get the true picture of the statistics.

Although reigning champions Argentina have scored the most goals (17), two-time World Cup winners France have been the best side going forward overall as they've averaged the most goals, joint-most shots and highest Expected Goals per 90 minutes.

The South American side have been the most clinical, converting 18% of their chances, while the opposite is true of European champions Spain. Despite taking as many shots as their semi-final opponents France (110), they have scored just 11 goals to their 16 - almost a goal per game fewer.

When taking both the number and quality of shots into account, England have been less creative than the other three sides but have still scored more than two goals per game thanks to clinical finishing from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane.

Spain have been the most solid side defensively and only conceded their first goal of the tournament in their quarter-final victory against Belgium, although France have conceded just two goals in six games themselves.

With the France attack looking formidable, it will be interesting to see if their unstoppable force or Spain's immovable object prevails in the contest on Tuesday.

There's a good chance of more goals in the other semi-final between England and Argentina as neither side have been as impressive at the back.

Both sides have conceded six goals so far, with England giving up the most chances and Argentina being the least successful at keeping them out.

While Argentina have covered the most ground (706.5km), that's simply because they have played more football.

When taking playing time into account, they've actually run the least and made the fewest sprints of the four sides remaining. In fact, they've been out-run by their opponents in every game they've played so far.

It's no surprise then that the reigning champions have also been the least aggressive when it comes to pressing opponents, winning the ball high up the pitch less often than England, France and Spain.

In contrast, Spain have been the hardest-working of the final four as they've run, sprinted and pressed the opposition the most out of the semi-finalists.

Luis de la Fuente's side have also enjoyed the most possession (66%) - not just of the teams remaining but of any side at this World Cup - and have the joint-best passing accuracy at the tournament along with Argentina (90.4%), although all four sides have been proficient passers.

England's defenders will have to be on their toes to cut out the through balls that Argentina - and Lionel Messi in particular - have loved to play so far.

Their talismanic captain has threaded the ball to his team-mates more often than any other player at this World Cup (15).

But England have a threat of their own that Argentina's defenders will have to deal with.

Thomas Tuchel's side have been the most successful with their crossing in open play of the four semi-finalists, finding a team-mate with one in every four.

It's a good reason why they've scored the joint-most headed goals (four) and had the most headed shots (24) of any team at the tournament.

The fact that Argentina have the worst aerial duel success rate of the final four should give England hope that their threat in the air can continue. They also have the best success rate in 50-50s overall (although only marginally).

While just two players have dribbled past their opponent more than Lionel Messi at this World Cup, his team-mates have rarely attempted to do the same.

In contrast, Spain should expect France's front four to be running at them with the ball time and time again as they have done throughout the tournament.

NEW YORK (AP) — After starting the season with high expectations and a payroll to match, the New York Mets stumbled into the All-Star break following their worst first half in 31 years.

Shortstop Francisco Lindor misplayed a potential game-ending, double-play grounder for an error that sparked Boston's comeback in a 3-2, 10-inning win over the Mets on Sunday.

New York lost for the 16th time in 22 games and at 40-57 matched its season low of 17 games under .500. The Mets had not been 17 under at the All-Star break since they were 25-44 in 1995, when the season’s start was delayed until late April by the players’ strike. They are 17 under at the break in a full season for the first time since 1993, when they opened 27-60 and finished 59-103.

“I think everybody understands what needs to happen going into the second half,” said interim manager Andy Green, who fell to 6-10 since taking over for Carlos Mendoza on June 26. “There’s cleaner, better baseball for us to play. We all bear a measure of responsibility for it. This organization, the fan base, deserve better baseball.”

New York squandered seven scoreless innings from rookie Zach Thornton and a pair of RBIs by Lindor in just his second two-hit game since his return from the injured list.

President of baseball operations David Stearns emphasized run prevention and a more resourceful offense while trading Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil and allowing Pete Alonso, the franchise’s home run leader, and closer Edwin Díaz to leave as free agents.

New York ranks 12th in the NL with 398 runs and has rarely fielded its optimal lineup. Lindor, Francisco Alvarez, Jorge Polanco, Marcus Semien and Luis Robert Jr. — all opening day starters —- have combined to miss 259 games.

Juan Soto, New York’s lone All-Star, was sidelined for 15 games with a left quadriceps strain in April. Bo Bichette, signed in January to play third, is hitting .255 — 39 percentage points below his career average entering the year. He started the first 94 games before relegated to pinch-hitting this weekend due to sore legs.

Mets pitchers have a 4.27 ERA, almost a quarter of a run higher than last year’s 4.03 mark. Opening day starter Freddy Peralta, acquired from Milwaukee in a January trade, has a career-worst 4.66 ERA.

Devin Williams, who blew a save for the second time in a week, has a 4.83 ERA.

“It hasn’t been a lot of fun,” Williams said. “Not a lot of celebrating going on in this clubhouse right now.”

New York is 12 games out of the last NL wild card and will begin the second half with 19 straight games against teams currently occupying a playoff position.

“Unacceptable,” said Lindor, who is batting .216 with a .671 OPS in 40 games. “Just encourages us to continue to fight, At the end of the day, that’s the only thing we can do. We’re going to try to be better. We’re going to play as hard as we can in the second half and hopefully we put ourselves in a much better position because right now, it’s not where we want to be.”

- Christopher Nolan said that controversy “comes with the territory” when adapting well-known stories like *The Odyssey*.

- The filmmaker said that after spending a decade on the* Dark Knight* trilogy, he knows “you can’t worry about any of that.”

- He also said that pre-release conversations about his movies are “always irrelevant, because no one having them knows what the film actually is yet.”

Christopher Nolan is no stranger to internet controversy.

The *Inception* filmmaker remains unconcerned with any perceived controversy about his casting and broader creative decisions in *The Odyssey*, as he’s already survived the wrath of annoying fanboys throughout the *Dark Knight* trilogy.

Prior to its release, Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic has faced some backlash, which has come in the form of racist condemnations of the casting of Black actors like Lupita Nyong’o and Zendaya, as well as arguments from pedants decrying a lack of historical accuracy (despite the fact that Homer’s story features a cyclops and a good deal of magic). Nolan told *The Guardian* that this kind of response “comes with the territory” before noting, “These conversations that happen before people see the film — they’re always irrelevant, because no one having them knows what the film actually is yet.”

He added, “But remember…I spent 10 years of my life dealing with Batman.”

Nolan went on to reflect on how helming his own version of DC’s shadowy superhero inspired now-forgotten internet backlash — after all, many questioned the filmmaker’s decision to cast Heath Ledger as the Joker in *The Dark Knight* before being blown away by his Oscar-winning performance.

“When I came on to *Batman Begins*, writers and artists had been working on this beloved character for almost 65 years, and a lot of freighted thoughts were out there about what he represents,” Nolan said. “And what I learnt over my time on that trilogy is you can’t worry about any of that at all. What you have to do is honour the original text by interpreting it in the strongest way you personally can.”

Nolan thinks that his *Batman* films, which collectively earned over $2.4 billion at the worldwide box office and are widely considered among the strongest comic book adaptations of all time, prove that audiences appreciate a visionary storyteller putting their own spin on a familiar narrative, even if they don’t fully understand every creative decision before seeing the movie.

“In the end, fans of the property — even when we were doing something that was not what they would have done — enjoyed the sincerity of the attempt to put as good a version of it on screen as we could,” he said, noting that he’s taking the same approach to *The Odyssey*. “All I can do is make the best film I possibly can in the most sincere way. It’s very different from how anyone else would do it, but that’s what adaptation is.”

*The Odyssey* also stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Charlize Theron, John Leguizamo, Samantha Morton, Travis Scott, Elliot Page, and  Benny Safdie. The film hits theaters on July 17.

The Princess of Wales has riffed on every permutation of the Wimbledon look in her 15 years as a royal, from zingy tennis ball yellow to crisp tennis whites. It’s a playful strategy that has made Catherine stand out to audiences in her role as patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, but it has also caused a ripple effect. The crowds in attendance so often now copy her approach, and enjoy getting dressed up in their take on Wimbledon whites or umpire chic, despite their being no official dress code at the event.

For the men’s singles final on Centre Court on Sunday, that influence was in full effect – see Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez and the myriad other A-listers in attendance, all dutifully doing a take on thematic dressing.

The Princess out-served them all. For her, it was a lawn-green draped dress by Emilia Wickstead that ensured she was unmissable as she arrived, accompanied by Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The bespoke “Tidus” design by Wickstead featured an elegant cape at the right shoulder – making the outfit look polished, but not overly fussy or too hot to wear in the heatwave.

On Saturday, too, the Princess plumped for an especially juicy theme, opting for a red peplum-waisted dress by Roland Mouret to watch the women’s singles final on Centre Court.

That £795 design is still available to buy on Mouret’s website. Most famous for his “Galaxy” dress, a body-conscious creation which was loved by celebrities from Victoria Beckham to Beyoncé, Mouret’s origami draped dress has those same sculptural sensibilities with a little more flair and tailoring.

The Princess’s choice of colour then reflected the strawberries which are synonymous with Wimbledon. Have you even been to SW19 if you haven’t enjoyed the strawberries and cream?

The thought that the Princess puts into her Wimbledon looks annually is a sign of her dedication and genuine love for the championships. Back in 2024 when she was having preventative chemotherapy, it was one of the few summer events that she refused to miss out on.

The Princess is truly a master at striking the balance between dressing “on theme” and being “in style”, and having fun, while appearing appropriate. It is this considerate and consistent approach that has made her one of the best-dressed royals of all time. The crowds at Wimbledon, but also the audience of millions beyond Centre Court who will be watching her appearance, can’t fail to notice the winning sartorial streak.

The reunion between Meghan and Harry and King Charles III wasn't as successful as it appears, according to a royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess had a private meeting with Harry's father following years of tension between the 41 year old prince and other members of the Royal Family.

Harry touched down in the UK on Monday alone and participated in several public engagements throughout his week-long visit to his native country.

William and Kate 'send Prince Harry a clear message' post King Charles reunion

The original itinerary was supposed to include his wife and children, but those plans shifted when he failed to secure the degree of protection he'd requested for the visit.

Meghan joined him in the UK briefly this weekend, though it was announced that the Duchess of Sussex wouldn't be attending any public events during her time back in Britain.

The entire situation has divided public sentiment, though many have interpreted the meeting as a victory for the couple, who now reside thousands of miles away in California following their departure from royal duties in 2020.

Royal author Rob Shuter cautioned against accepting media reports suggesting the reunion was an overwhelming triumph.

"Don't believe the hype," an insider told him. "This wasn't a surrender-it was a grandfather wanting to see his grandchildren. People are confusing compassion with capitulation."

They added: "Yes, the meeting happened. But look at what didn't happen.

"There was no official photograph. No public embrace. No balcony moment. No joint statement declaring a new chapter. No announcement restoring Harry's role. No change to security arrangements. No constitutional shift. The monarchy gave away absolutely nothing.

"If Buckingham Palace wanted the world to see this as a reconciliation, there would have been a picture," they added. "The fact that there wasn't tells you everything you ."

The expert continued by characterizing the reunion as "a private family moment between an ageing King, his son, and his grandchildren-not a public rehabilitation of the Sussex brand".

The visit has sparked widespread public debate regarding Harry and Meghan's standing within the Royal Family.

Royal author Tom Bower told the Daily Express: "The man is poison for the monarchy, and I think all the damage he and Meghan have done over the last 5 years, yes, there was again more damage, and the monarchy's popularity has fallen.

"It needs to rebuild its popularity and rebuild its respect for people. And Harry's presence in Britain just undermines that effort."

Mel C almost got kicked out of the Spice Girls over an argument with her bandmate Victoria Beckham.

The singer, 52, revealed their intense fight during her recent appearance on “The Louis Theroux Podcast.” Mel C — whose real name is Melanie Chisholm — shared it occurred at the 1996 BRIT Awards. Though they weren’t famous yet as the Spice Girls had yet to release their debut single, 1996’s smash hit “Wannabe,” they had an “amazing night” drinking champagne and getting to sit at a table with Lenny Kravitz.

But Sporty Spice said the night later took a turn for the worst.

Mel C recalled an argument with fellow Spice Girl Victoria Beckham that almost got her kicked out of the group during her recent appearance on “The Louis Theroux Podcast.” Louis Theroux/YouTube

The singer, aka Sporty Spice, said after the 1996 BRIT Awards, she told Beckham to “f—k off,” though didn’t elaborate what set the argument off. Louis Theroux/YouTube

“We were just leaving, we were going to find our car, and whatever the situation was, I just turned around and go, ‘Victoria, f‑—k off,’” she recalled. “I go home, go to bed, I wake up the next morning, and I was in a lot of trouble.”

Mel C said Mel B (Scary Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) told her they were “disgusted” with her behavior and that the group’s manager also came down hard on her.

“I was told in no uncertain terms that if anything ever happened like that again, I would be gone,” she said. “That completely freaked me out.”

She admitted she was terrified that she was going to “lose everything” over a “trivial” incident.

“Those dreams as a child, which now were a possibility, I might have f—ked it all up,” she said.

Back in May, Mel C revealed who was the most “boy crazy” of the members of the Spice Girls when they hit superstardom in the ’90s, which she said was Mel B.

“I would say the best success rate…” she began in an episode of “Cosmopolitan’s Blind Date,” before commenting that Mel B “was very popular.”

Earlier that month, she also addressed assumptions about her sexuality while she was part of the iconic girl group.

“You’ve got all the different ones and the one who’s in the active wear … it was assumed or suggested that I was gay,” she said during her appearance on “The Mitch Churi Chat Show.”

“I don’t personally have a problem with that,” she continued. “I mean, it’s none of their friggin’ business. But I just thought … to base it on somebody’s look or the way that they dress, yeah, it was a bit s—t of them.”

Mel C has a daughter, Scarlett, 17, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend Thomas Starr. She’s been dating Australian model Chris Dingwall since November 2023.

Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Matt Damon stunned on various red carpets for "The Odyssey."

Christopher Nolan's latest film "The Odyssey" has received a lot of controversy online, but the stars of the project are still bringing their fashion A-game to the press tour.

Zendaya has continuously stunned on the red carpet as she channeled her inner Greek goddess, while Anne Hathaway styled her pregnant belly beautifully in various flowing gowns.

Despite backlash over her casting, Lupita Nyong'o crushed it on the red carpet, whether she's in a floor-length sheer gown or in an asymmetrical short white dress.

Nolan is in hot water for many of his decisions in the making of the film, including casting choices, historical inaccuracies throughout and use of modern dialogue.

Here are some of the best looks from "The Odyssey" press tour.

Zendaya stunned in a backless white dress with a halter neckline, which she paired with a white headscarf.

Fresh off the "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" press tour, Zendaya stepped onto the carpet at a series of events promoting "The Odyssey," in a whole new batch of jaw-dropping looks.

She started off the new press tour channeling her character in the movie, Athena, in a loose-fitting white Jacquemus gown with a halter neckline and a dramatic low back.

The actress paired the look with a white headscarf and a diamond ring, but the true star of the show were her gold disk earrings, which are reportedly 2,000 to 3,000 years old, dating back to the first millennium.

Her stylist, Law Roach, posted a video from the red carpet on Instagram, and fans could not help but gush over the look. One fan wrote, "Can't possibly be more stunning," while another added, "I am more excited about what she’s going to wear next than anything I have ever worn. I would like to request a coffee table book."

Zendaya walked the carpet at the premiere of the movie in a white dress with a structured torso and fringe skirt.

Zendaya followed that look with another stunning gown at the world premiere of the movie in London, England.

The Schiaparelli dress featured a sculpted bodice with mirrored details, a lace-up back and a halter neckline, made to resemble ancient Greek statues, as an homage to the themes of the film.

From there, the dress transitioned into a loose beaded hombre skirt with fringe, which went from white, to gray and then blue.

Her stylist went through a lot to ensure Zendaya was able to wear this dress, which had just made its debut at the fashion houses runway show a few days before, telling fans on Instagram he traveled to Paris on a private jet to personally pick up the dress for the actress for the premiere.

Zendaya walked the carpet at the Paris premiere of the film in a white dress with ruffles and a cutout on her abs.

The "Euphoria" star did not disappoint when she walked the red carpet at the Paris premiere of the film in yet another white dress, this one featuring sheer lace.

Zendaya posed for photos in a sheer white dress with a large cutout on the torso showcasing her toned abs. It also featured a thigh-high slit, as well as large ruffles along the sleeves and on her shoulders.

She paired the look with white pumps, a statement necklace and a few rings, and styled her hair in an updo with a braid across the top of her head. She kept her makeup look natural, except for blue eyeshadow and dramatic eyeliner.

Roach shared a video of Zendaya at the event on Instagram, with fans writing, "PLEASEEEEEEEEEE let us breathe for just one moment law," and "Gets better and better ❤️."

Hathaway turned heads when she walked the carpet in a white mini dress with a halter neckline and ruffles.

Anne Hathaway turned heads when she arrived to the London photocall for "The Odyssey" in a flowing white dress.

The pregnant star posed for photos in a white, off-the-shoulder Blumarine Resort gown with a halter neckline and sheer balloon sleeves, with ruffles which flowed down to the ground.

She styled the look with brown knee-high suede boots, mini gold hoop earrings, a gold watch and multiple gold rings. She kept her makeup natural, and wore her long brunette locks down her back in a center part.

Hathaway posed for photos in a flowing blue dress with a floral embellishment.

The "Devil Wears Prada" actress sported another flowy dress at the London premiere of the movie.

Hathaway, who announced she was pregnant with her third child in mid-June, posed for photos in a strapless blue Dior gown with a pleated skirt and a floral embellishment on the chest.

"I saw this dress, actually, when I was looking for some options for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ press... And I fell in love with it," she told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere. "And I said, ‘If it’s alright, would you please wait for me and hold this for me? Because in a few months I think it’s going to work.’"

She paired the look with red lipstick and minimal jewelry, including multiple rings and drop earrings.

Damon looked dapper while posing for photos in a red suit.

Matt Damon was all smiles as he walked the red carpet at the premiere of "The Odyssey" in a dark red suit.

The actor portrays Odysseus, a legendary Greek king of Ithaca who was instrumental in their win during the Trojan War. The upcoming epic details his 10-year journey back home to Ithaca following the end of the war.

During a recent appearance on Amy Poehler's "Good Hang" podcast, Damon shared what it was like preparing his body for the role, calling it a "complete lifestyle change."

"There's no planning it," he said. "Any other time I tried to do something like that, it was always like, well, ‘My time, my workouts’… and this was like… just put your foot on the gas and that's it. And that's the only way to do it, and eat a little less."

Charlize Theron started the press tour at the world premiere in London, in a sleek classic black Givenchy gown.

The Princess of Wales presented Jannik Sinner with the Gentlemen's Singles Trophy after he defended his Wimbledon title in an enthralling final this afternoon.

The world No1 triumphed 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 against the second seed in a contest defined by powerful serving, Alexander Zverev's courageous efforts, and a fateful fall in the third set.

This victory marks Sinner's fifth Grand Slam victory.

As Catherine entered the court, wearing an elegant olive green dress and signature Wimbledon brooch, she shook hands with the young ball boys and girls.

She first presented the runners-up trophy to Zverev, giving him consoling words after his spirited performance, which, in the end, fell just short.

"We came into Wimbledon never reaching the quarter-finals, and we've played our first Wimbledon final," he told the Centre Court crowd.

"At 29 years old, this is the first time that I believe I can actually win this trophy, so thanks to you (my team)."

The Princess of Wales then presented the coveted trophy to Sinner, offering her congratulations to the Italian.

Catherine had presented Sinner with the same trophy this time last year, after he defeated Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz to become the first-ever Italian to win at Wimbledon.

Sinner spoke admirably after he secured the defence of the prestigious tournament: "Sascha, I would like to start with you and your whole team and your family.

"You reached one of your main goals in winning Grand Slams... If you play like this, I'm very, very sure you're going to have this one at home as well.

"Amazing, keep going. I know the goal for you is to become No1 in the world — you're very, very close."

In the opening set, Zverev's first serve proved formidable, landing at 74 per cent, as both competitors held their own on serve to force a tiebreak – one in which the 29-year-old German came out on top.

Sinner returned in the second set – again, poised for a tie-break as neither player seemed willing to give up their serve – to narrowly win and level the final once more.

However, the match's decisive turning point arrived in the seventh game of the third set.

Zverev, holding break point, slipped while attempting to retrieve a drop shot and appeared to hyperextend his right knee.

He remained on the ground momentarily, clutching his leg, before rising to continue.

The injury's impact became increasingly apparent on his service motion, preventing him from extending fully into his delivery.

A double fault followed, then a forehand drifted marginally long to offer Sinner an opportunity to break his serve – one in which he duly accepted to storm into the lead for the first time.

As the fourth set commenced with the clock passing 7pm, time pressure mounted with a potential roof closure looming.

Sinner has never won a match exceeding three hours and 50 minutes, yet it was Zverev who appeared more affected by the ticking clock.

The German resumed his aggressive forehand assault, firing three consecutive winners to reach deuce in Sinner's opening service game.

The champion responded magnificently in the seventh game, producing a superb lob followed by a commanding volley to earn the crucial break for a 4-3 advantage.

A penetrating return pushed Zverev deep, and a forehand winner sealed Sinner's triumph.
