A cruise passenger on board a luxury vessel reportedly died amid a 12-night European sailing.

According to local outlet IrelandLive, a passenger on board the Regent Seven Seas Voyager died while the vessel was en route to Ireland. The deceased individual was subsequently brought ashore while the ship was docked at the Port of Greencastle in County Donegal on Aug. 28.

A spokesperson for Foyle Port, which operates the dock, confirmed to Ireland Live that the passenger died on board the vessel. In a statement, they added the individual would “be transferred to Letterkenny [University] Hospital.” They added: “It was all organized by the ship’s agent and dealt with by the Garda in accordance with Irish regulations.”

A representative for Garda Síochána, Ireland’s national police and security force, confirmed to PEOPLE the death was not the subject of a criminal investigation. The office did not offer further comment, citing the incident as a medical emergency.

Go Visit Inishowen, a local tourism agency, shared in a statement with the local outlet: “Sadly, we understand that a passenger has passed away. Our thoughts are with their family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

The sailing included stops in Iceland, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland before arriving in England on Sept. 1. The vessel subsequently departed Southampton for another voyage that same day.
