Prince Harry is facing renewed criticism following his latest legal defeat. A television host aimed at Meghan Markle’s lifestyle business while discussing the potentially costly fallout from the case. The comments come after reports that claim the Duke of Sussex and his fellow claimants could be ordered to make a multimillion-dollar interim payment to the publisher of the Daily Mail after losing their privacy lawsuit.
Host claims Meghan Markle will have to ‘sell a lot of jam’ to compensate for Prince Harry’s million-dollar legal bill
“The last number I heard was £38 million; I think it may have even climbed beyond that at this point, some reports are saying £50 million,” GB News host Alex Armstrong said during his conversation with News24 host Danica De Giorgio.
He also criticized Harry’s continued legal battles with the British press. “The press in Britain has changed a lot. So, what he’s doing is stirring up old problems, and I think partially, I believe, part of this is to keep himself relevant.” Armstrong claimed. He then took a swipe at Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand, joking, “She’s going to be making a lot of jam jars to sell £50 million worth.”
According to Reuters, Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), the publisher of the Daily Mail, is seeking an interim payment of approximately $13.3 million from Harry and his fellow claimants following the dismissal of their privacy lawsuit. The group of claimants includes singer Elton John, actress Elizabeth Hurley, and Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon, among others.

ANL’s lawyer, Anthony White, argued that the claimants should cover the publisher’s legal expenses. He wants the claimants to begin with an advance payment. ANL has claimed it spent more than $45 million defending the case.
However, Harry’s legal team and the other claimants argued that those costs exceeded the budget previously approved by the court. In written submissions, the claimants proposed an interim payment of roughly $10 million instead of the $13.3 million sought by ANL. They also told the court they hold insurance that could cover more than $21 million in legal fees.
