Saturday’s tips -
Words Of Truth (Sandown, 13.50) – 1pt win @ 3/1
Sea Force (Sandown, 14.25) – 1pt each-way @ 14/1
Constitution River (Sandown, 15.35) – 6pts win @ 11/10
Flying Frontier (Sandown, 17.22) – 1pt each-way @ 11/2
Coral Charge (Group 3) (13.50, Sandown)
A field of ten go for this 5f sprint, with Asfoora heading the market at 2/1 on UK betting sites at the time of writing. She’s been a shade disappointing so far this campaign but she’s now back with Henry Dwyer, which could signal an upturn in fortunes.
She is feared, as is last year’s winner of this race, Rumstar, who’s been contesting some quality races for several seasons. However, I’m siding with WORDS OF TRUTH, who is a three-year-old on the rise.
The Charlie Appleby-trained gelding won last year’s Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury (6f, good to soft) and was having just his second start of the calendar year when winning the Listed Scurry Stakes over C&D last month (good).
That was a career best effort and with his trainer in form, despite the gaps he has to bridge on official marks with the aforementioned pair, he may be able to take another step forward. We’ll play to small stakes.
Coral Challenge (Handicap) (14.25, Sandown)
A maximum field of 17 is set to line up for this mile handicap and it’s priced up to be the open race that it looks, with Tribal Chief heading the market on betting apps after an excellent third in the Victoria Cup when last seen at Ascot.
One I think could bounce back here at a price is SEA FORCE. He’s yet to win or hit the heights of his best form from last year but he wasn’t far away when also a good third in the Thirsk Hunt Cup (1m, good to firm) in May.
The William Haggas-trained gelding then went to York’s Dante meeting and ran no sort of race when joint favourite, finishing last of 18. His trainer is one of the best in the business and he’s given his charge time to get over that lack lustre effort.
He acts on good ground, has won over 1m1f, which is no bad thing over this stiff mile and he goes without the cheekpieces he’s worn on his last two starts, instead sporting a first-time tongue-tie. It would not be a surprise if he’s able to bounce back this time and 14/1 for a small each-way play looks too big to overlook.
Coral-Eclipse (Group 1) (15.35, Sandown)
There’s £1,000,000 in prize money up for grabs here and it’s a race in which Aidan O’Brien has trained the winner on no fewer than nine occasions.
Seven of those nine winners have been three-year-olds and I think he’ll have another here with CONSTITUTION RIVER, who looks a seriously good bet especially at odds against on horse racing betting sites at the time of writing.
The master of Ballydoyle has undergone something of a shift in his race planning for his prime three-year-olds over time. While he still wants to win the Derby, it is very much arguable that he saves his best Classic-aged colt for this race instead.
After all, in the world of bloodstock, who doesn’t want a stallion who can win a Group 1 over a stiff 1m2f like Sandown’s?

As I said at the time, you’d have to be impressed with the way the selection went about his business in winning the Dee Stakes at O’Brien’s favoured trial meeting, Chester’s May meeting. He clocked a very quick time there too.
If that was suitably eye-catching, then he enhanced his reputation when taking the measure of his stable companion, the reopposing Hawk Mountain in the Prix Du Jockey Club field at Chantilly.
Drawn wide, Ryan Moore decided against rushing across towards the rail and instead took a more gradual ‘diagonal’ route across and settled him well. Given how wide he’d started, his 3/4l win needs marking up. I also liked the look of how he came home once his pilot got serious, over two furlongs out.
He’s priced up as the best horse in this field and while Gethin is a very good one himself, he’d have to be extra special to successfully concede 10lb to the selection, who is a confident choice.
Coral Celebrating 100 Years Handicap (Class 2) (17.22, Sandown)
Plenty of interest in the ‘lucky last’, with York winner Point of Contact and regular ‘bridesmaid’ Spoken Truth both arriving with claims on the prize.
However, the suggestion is to side with last year’s winner FLYING FRONTIER, who comes into it this time from a 1lb lower mark.
He’s 2-4 at the track, acts on a sound surface and, after a disappointing seasonal reappearance, he kept on four fourth, a couple of places behind Spoken Truth in the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar (1m2f, good to firm).
He’s backable each-way at the time of writing but he might just be good enough to win it again.
Gamble responsibly
If you’re having a bet on horse racing, it’s vital to practice responsible gambling.
Betting can be addictive, and it’s important to stay in control of your gambling, whether you’re using online bookmakers, casino sites, slot sites, bingo sites or any other gambling platform.
Never treat gambling as a way to make money, never bet more than you can afford and when the fun stops, stop.
Gambling sites offer punters tools, like deposit limits, profit and loss trackers and self-exclusion options, to help you stay in control.
But if you ever feel like you need help or advice on gambling addiction, don’t hesitate to contact one of the charities or organisations below.
