Coyote Ugly premiered on Aug. 4, 2000

Loosely based on the real-life N.Y.C. saloon of the same name, the beloved film starred Piper Perabo, Maria Bello, Tyra Banks, Bridget Moynahan and Melanie Lynskey, among others

Over the years, many of the Coyote Ugly cast members have expressed interest in returning for a sequel

Once a coyote, always a coyote!

Coyote Ugly hit theaters 26 years ago on Aug. 4, 2000. The beloved millennial drama tells the story of Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo), who, after bidding farewell to her New Jersey hometown to pursue her songwriting dreams in New York City, takes a job at a high-energy bar called Coyote Ugly to help pay the bills.

Directed by David McNally, the film also stars Maria Bello, Tyra Banks, Bridget Moynahan and Melanie Lynskey. Coyote Ugly was a raucous hit, grossing more than $113 million globally, per Box Office Mojo, and remains a cultural touchstone.

Which is why fans have been clamoring for a Coyote Ugly sequel — and the cast members are more than ready to saddle up for round two.

“There has been some discussion about [a sequel],” Perabo told The Hollywood Reporter in July 2025, adding, “I will say that people that were integral to making it are in communication about how to do something more.”

No official announcements have been made, so until then, here’s everything to know about where the Coyote Ugly cast is now.

Perabo burst onto the scene as wannabe singer Violet Sanford, who moves from a small town in New Jersey to N.Y.C. to pursue her dreams — and ends up joining the Coyote Ugly crew.

After the movie hit theaters, Perabo found steady film work before scoring her role on Covert Affairs, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She then appeared on Notorious, Turn Up Charlie, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, The Big Leap and Billions. In 2021, she joined the cast of Yellowstone as Summer Higgins, an animal rights activist. Since 2025, she’s guest-starred on Grey’s Anatomy, Butterfly and The Hunting Party.

In July 2014, Perabo wed director-producer Stephen Kay and became stepmother to his daughter, actress Lilli Kay.

Already one of the world’s most famous models when Coyote Ugly came out, Banks made her mark in the film as bartender Zoe.

Banks told PEOPLE in December 2018 that she’s “dying” to do a sequel.

“I want to produce it — I just need to get the rights from Mr. Jerry Bruckheimer or work with him.”

Since Coyote Ugly, Banks helmed her show, America’s Next Top Model, for 15 years from 2003 to 2018. She received backlash after Netflix’s 2026 documentaryReality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.

The California native also hosted Dancing with the Starsfrom 2020 to 2023 and has had guest appearances on series such as Shake It Up, Black-ish, Insecure, I Love That For You and Bel-Air. She also starred in the iconic 2000 film franchise Life-Size and its 2018 sequel.

Banks is currently dating businessman Louis Bélanger-Martin. She shares one child — son Yorks Bank Asla, born in 2016 and raised by Banks in Australia — with ex-boyfriend Erik Asla.

As the bar’s tough but fair owner, Bello’s Lil gave Violet her chance, then took it away before giving her another opportunity.

Best known for her work on Mr. & Mrs. Smith and ER, Bello has also appeared in films such as A History of Violence (2005), Grown Ups (2010) and Lights Out (2016), as well as on shows like Prime Suspect, Touch, Goliath,NCIS, BeefandThe Waterfront.

The Emmy-nominated actress, who shares a son with ex-boyfriend Dan McDermott, wed chef Dominique Crenn in April 2024 and filed for divorce a year later.

Coyote Ugly marked Izabella Miko‘s first role in Hollywood. She portrayed Cammie, the bar’s flirty, highly skilled dancer who describes herself as “the Russian tease.”

“A year before Coyote, I was selling batteries in Times Square and going to AA meetings. I didn’t have a drinking problem, but I wanted the free cookies and milk in the back,” Miko told PEOPLE at the 25th anniversary screening of Coyote Ugly in L.A. in May 2025.

The film opened doors for the Polish actress, and she went on to land parts in 2006’s Save the Last Dance 2 and 2014’s Step Up: All In. She’s also had guest spots on shows like Deadwood, Chicago Fire, Hunters, The Flight Attendant and NCIS: Hawai’i.

In March 2026, Miko became a contestant on the 18th season of Taniec z Gwiazdami, the Polish version of Dancing with the Stars.

Coyote Ugly was also Moynahan’s first major film role. She played Rachel, the bar’s experienced, fiercely protective assistant manager who becomes a mentor to Violet.

The movie hit theaters right around the time Moynahan joined the cast of Sex and the City as Mr. Big’s wife, Natasha. She later reprised her role on an episode of And Just Like That...

She’s since starred on series such as Six Degrees and Blue Bloods and in films like I, Robot (2004), Battle Los Angeles (2011), John Wick (2014) and John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017). The actress also appeared on the Blue Bloods procedural spinoff Boston Blue.

Moynahan has one child, son Jack, with her ex, Tom Brady. In October 2015, she tied the knot with N.Y.C. businessman Andrew Frankel.

A huge name in Hollywood after a long stint on Roseanne, John Goodman starred as Violet’s loving, overprotective father, who discouraged his daughter’s new career path after seeing a racy photo of her in the newspaper.

Goodman’s career hasn’t slowed down, with roles in a myriad of films and on TV shows, including Argo (2012), Flight (2012), 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016), The Righteous Gemstones and The Conners. He has voiced Sully in the Monsters, Inc.franchise and Fat Freddy Freekowtski on The Freak Brothers since 2020.

The Australian actor, who was asked to audition after the casting director saw him in the Saturday Night Fever musical on London’s West End, went on to appear in films like Riding in Cars with Boys (2001), Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004), Death on the Nile(2022) and My Eyes (2024).

Garcia shares two children with his wife, Nathalia Chubin, whom he wed in March 2015.

She also appeared on The Last of Us in 2023 as the brutal Kathleen, earning another Emmy nomination, and had a guest spot on Poker Face and Matlock in 2025.

Rosie O'Donnell is returning to The View more than a decade after her exit as a moderator.

O’Donnell, 64, confirmed on the Monday, August 3, episode of "The Tangle" podcast that she will appear as "just a guest" in season 30.

"They’re bringing back all the hosts, I think, for the 30th season," she noted about the show's upcoming anniversary. “I will go on the 30th anniversary next [season]."

O’Donnell continued: “And you know, I’m pretty proud of that show, what it’s become and how it really speaks to the people and to politics. [It] was not the case when I first joined."

‘The View’ Cohosts Through the Years and Why They Left

The comedian was previously on the show as a moderator for one season in 2007 and another in 2015. O’Donnell has since been outspoken about the challenges she faced behind the scenes despite her support for the morning talk show.

“Many, many people got the short end of the stick there. It was, you know, it was a factory where people were being churned in and out and their tenuous security, nobody got to be calm,” she added on Monday. "It also was a show at the time that was run by a man. A show created by a woman, for women, about women, and the man was deciding what we should talk about. And that didn’t sit right with me, you know.”

O’Donnell has spoken about longtime View producer Bill Geddie, who died in 2023, in the past.

“One day on the show [Elisabeth Hasselbeck] kind of threw me under the bus and I was like, ‘Are you f**king kidding me?’ I finished the show, got my coat, walked out and said, 'I’m not going back,' and I didn’t until a few years later when they asked me to come back and Whoopi [Goldberg] was on it and we clashed in ways that I was shocked by,” O’Donnell recalled on a 2023 episode of the "Now What? With Brooke Shields" podcast.

Most Shocking Talk Show Scandals: GMA‘s Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, More

O’Donnell was asked whether she had any regrets about her time on The View, to which she replied, “I know this: It’s not the best use of my talent to get in a show where I have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness. It was not something I’d ever do again."

She continued: "Barbara [Walters], who created the talk show in 1997, and I got along after. We went out to dinner. We knew each other way before I did that show, before she asked me to do it, and we remained friendly toward the end. I forgave her, because she was older and did the best that she could with what she had to work with, but it’s nothing I’d want to do again, I can say that.”

Elsewhere in the podcast episode, O’Donnell said she had a “tense time” with current moderator Goldberg before her 2015 exit. The pair have since worked out their differences off screen.

The View airs on ABC weekdays at 11 a.m. ET.

In the months after Pearl Harbor, American submarines became one of the few forces capable of striking deep inside Japanese-controlled waters. Operating far from friendly bases, their crews hunted warships, tankers, troop transports, and cargo vessels carrying the fuel and raw materials that sustained Japan’s expanding empire. By the end of World War II, U.S. submarines were credited with destroying 54.6 percent of the Japanese naval and merchant tonnage sunk by American forces.

Few boats embodied that dangerous campaign more dramatically than USS Tang. Commissioned in October 1943 under Lieutenant Commander Richard H. O’Kane, the Balao-class submarine completed five war patrols in less than a year. Later historical analysis credited Tang with sinking 33 ships totaling 116,454 tons, placing it first among American submarines in both ships and tonnage destroyed. Its extraordinary record, however, came with a devastating ending: during its final patrol in October 1944, Tang was sunk when its own torpedo malfunctioned and circled back toward the submarine

The USS Tang was handed over to the Navy on November 30, 1943.

The USS Tang was built in the Mare Island Naval Shipyard as part of a massive outfitting of the US Navy with Balao-class submarines. The contract to begin building the Tang was awarded on December 15, 1941. The ship was completed and commissioned on October 15, 1943, with Lieutenant Commander Richard O’Kane on hand.

The War in the Pacific

The construction of the USS Tang came hot off the heels of the United States declaring war on Japan and the rest of the Axis powers. As Japan was primarily a naval force, the United States would have to bring the Pacific fleet up to par and outclass the Japanese at their specialty. This proved to a bloody and gruesome conflict, despite massive victories for the United States.

The USS Tang’s first war patrol took it to the Carolinas and Mariana Islands.

The USS Tang went on its first war patrol after departing Pearl Harbor on January 22, 1944. On the morning of February 17, 1944, the USS Tang attacked a Japanese convoy, which returned fire with five depth charges. When the convoy’s escort left, the Tang fired three torpedoes at the convoy, sinking the Gyoten Maru.

Continued Convoy Attacks

The Tang scored 16 hits out of 24 torpedoes on its first war patrol.

The rest of the Tang’s first war patrol continuously hunted Japanese convoys. On February 22nd, the Tang attacked the Fukuyama Maru, almost completely blowing up. The following morning, the Tang attacked another convoy escort, the Yamashimo Maru, sinking it within minutes. The rest of the Tang’s first war patrol saw the Tang sink two more ships.

Second War Patrol

The Tang’s second war patrol saw no battles.

Beginning its second war patrol on March 16, 1944, the Tang was sent to the waters around Palau Islands, Davao Gulf, and Truk. During this war patrol, the Tang saw five total surface contacts but was out of range each time. Instead, the Tang focused on rescuing downed airmen. The Tang rescued 22 airmen and held them on board until they returned to Hawaii at the end of their patrol.

Third War Patrol

The USS Tang was credited with 10 kills at 39,160 tons on its third war patrol.

Leaving Pearl Harbor on June 8, 1944, the USS Tang was sent to the East China and Yellow Sea areas. It wouldn’t take long before, on June 24, the Tang saw a convoy of six ships guarded by 16 escorts. Firing three torpedoes twice at two different ships, the Tang sank both, though later Japanese reports indicated a total of four ships were sunk.

A single torpedo sunk the Nikkin Maru.

After its June 24th success, the Tang stayed in the same waters. Then, on June 30, it came across another cargo ship without an escort. While avoiding depth charges, the Tang surfaced and launched a single torpedo to destroy the Nikkin Maru and its transport ship, which led to the death of 3,200 Japanese soldiers. The following morning, the Tang sank another cargo ship, the Yamaoka Maru, for a total war patrol of 10 ships and 39,160 tons destroyed.

Fourth War Patrol

The Tang had multiple kills on its fourth war patrol before returning to Pearl Harbor.

Conducted from July 31 to September 3, the USS Tang’s fourth war patrol began in the coastal waters off Honshu. It took only 11 days of patrolling the area before the Tang located and sank the freighter Roko Maru and another unnamed freighter. In total, it had fired three torpedoes only to submerge and evade a depth charge attack that lasted 38 minutes.

Return to Pearl Harbor

One of the Tang’s largest kills was the Tsukushi maru at 8,135 tons.

Fast forward to August 14th, when the Tang attacked a Japanese patrol boat with just its deck gun. The ship was successfully hit eight times, while another Japanese patrol boat was sunk a week later. Three torpedoes were fired when the USS Tang spotted another Japanese patrol boat. The barrage sank the Tsukushi Maru and one additional tanker.

Fifth War Patrol

The USS Tang’s fifth war patrol began on September 24, 1944.

On its fifth and final war patrol starting September 24, 1944, the USS Tang was refitted and sent back to sea with the Formosa Strait as its destination. Its first success during its fifth war patrol came on the night of October 10, when it sank two cargo ships, the Joshu Go and Oita Maru. Over the next week and a half, the Tang would patrol and sink another destroyer along with multiple escorts and freighters.

Last Combat Actions

With its second-to-last torpedo, the USS Tang sank a Japanese tanker.©Unknown author / Public Domain -Original/License -

The USS Tang used its second-to-last torpedo to sink a Japanese transport.

On the morning of October 24, 1944, the Tang was patrolling waters at periscope depth. Upon making radar contact with a large convoy, the Tang’s first targets were two transports and a tanker. Two ships were destroyed, with one transport dead in the water. Having given away its position, the Tang moved to escape retaliatory attacks. To finish off the transport, the Tang loaded its second-to-last torpedo and successfully sank the ship.

Final Torpedo

The last torpedo from the USS Tang misfired and turned back to the submarine.

While still in the same target area, the 24th and last torpedo of the Tang’s fifth war patrol was loaded and fired. Unfortunately, the Mark 18 torpedo malfunctioned and circled back toward the Tang, striking the after torpedo room just 20 seconds after it was fired. Three compartments were immediately flooded, and half the crew died instantly.

Half of the USS Tang’s sailors died instantly.

With the Tang sinking, survivors attempted to reach the forward escape trunks. Japanese patrol boats were still dropping depth charges while attempting to confirm the Tang was gone. Having landed on the ocean floor 180 feet below the surface, only 13 men made it to the forward torpedo room and escaped hatches. Ironically, as the submarine was longer than the water’s depth, its bow stuck out.

Survivors

Commander O’Kane was one of 9 survivors who made it off the submarine.

According to the surviving commander, 29 men made it to an escape position in total, but many were too injured. As the first four men entered escape trunks, they used Momsen Lungs to reach the surface. While 13 men could escape the submarine, only nine made it to the surface. At the same time, a torpedo door gasket failed and exploded, suffocating the remaining crew on board.

War Success

The USS Tang has been credited with sinking 33 ships.

Among the survivors, Commander O’Kane and his crew were taken to Japanese POW camps, where they remained until the war ended. After the war, O’Kane was awarded the Medal of Honor, while the Tang was awarded four battle stars and two Presidential Unit Citations. The Tang was ultimately credited with sinking 33 ships totaling 116,454 tons.

WASHINGTON — Senate leaders have struck a bipartisan agreement to keep the government funded past the 2026 midterm elections and avoid a politically tricky shutdown in October.

Funding currently expires at the end of Sept. 30, triggering a full government shutdown on Oct. 1 if Congress fails to act.

The continuing resolution, or “CR,” was announced Sunday by Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Vice Chair Patty Murray, D-Wash. It would keep funds flowing at existing levels until Dec. 11.

The Senate is slated to hold a procedural vote to advance the legislation on Monday, with the goal of passing it this week before the chamber leaves for its August recess.

It would give time for congressional leaders to pursue a longer-term solution after the midterm elections, when the results will likely shape the direction of the next full-year funding package.

But first, it will need to pass the House, which has already left Washington for the August recess and returns in early September. House Republicans passed their own funding bill through Dec. 4, and the two chambers will need to work out their differences.

Collins said the Senate stopgap bill is “straightforward” and avoids “poison pills” while attaching “necessary adjustments” for the SNAP and WIC food programs, as well as disaster relief and national security programs.

“This measure gives Congress the time we need to continue our work on bipartisan appropriations bills, which are always my strong preference for handling annual government funding,” said Collins, who faces a competitive re-election bid in Maine this fall and has touted her ability to reach bipartisan deals on government funding in making her case to voters.

Murray said the bill fixes issues Democrats had with the House-passed version and “rejects Trump’s frivolous war spending wish list.” She said it closes “loopholes” for the administration to transfer funds from existing programs to Border Patrol, which she said “desperately needs reform, not more money.” And she said it blocks implementation of a proposal by the White House budget office that would “allow Trump officials to cancel grants at any time for any reason.”

“It’s good that we were able to produce a much-improved CR to keep the government funded and avert a shutdown that no one wants,” Murray said in a statement.

The legislation was negotiated with input from top party leaders in the Senate. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called it “a responsible path forward.”

“I thank Senator Murray for her tireless work on this deal and her success blocking Trump’s disgraceful efforts to further politicize all federal grants,” Schumer said in a statement. “Democrats remain committed to funding negotiations that help hardworking Americans get ahead and stymie Trump’s wasteful, corrupt agenda that has failed families.”

Rep. Rosa DeLauro, the top Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, also praised the Senate bill as “a clear improvement over the House Republican continuing resolution.”

Trump Media (DJT) charges hedge funds up to $100,000 a month for millisecond-early access to Trump's market-moving Truth Social posts.

Former SEC official Renée Jones says Truth API likely violates insider trading rules, prompting senators Warren, Schiff, and Schumer to demand SEC scrutiny.

DJT surged 23% in July on Truth API news despite just $4 million in trailing revenue against a $3 billion market cap.

For up to $100,000 a month, a hedge fund can buy a licensed, low-latency pipe into Donald Trump's Truth Social account, sold by Trump Media & Technology Group (NASDAQ:DJT), where Trump is the largest shareholder through a trust controlled by his son, Donald Trump Jr.. The product "Truth API," was first reported by Bloomberg on July 17 and the paid tier went live for subscribers around August 1, 2026. Buyers get the president's market-moving posts milliseconds before the public feed. The seller controls the poster.

Interim CEO Kevin McGurn described the offering as "a direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform's most market-moving Truths," pitched as "to monetize proprietary assets through a high-margin, recurring revenue stream." TMTG says customers have already begun signing up, though it will not name them.

Why Milliseconds Are Worth Six Figures

The precedent is fresh. In April 2025, Trump's "GREAT TIME TO BUY" Truth Social post landed hours before he announced a 90-day tariff pause, sending equity indexes sharply higher. His posts on the U.S.-Iran war have swung oil prices in both directions. For a high-frequency desk running Treasury futures, index derivatives, and currency pairs, milliseconds of lead time on a tariff, sanctions, or personnel post is a durable edge, one that used to leak through screenshots and Bloomberg terminals and now has a price sheet.

DJT's valuation runs far ahead of operations. Trailing revenue is $3.73 million, market cap sits near $2.73 billion, and EBITDA is negative $416.3 million. The stock closed at $9.86 on July 31, down 43.95% over the past year but up 22.94% in July alone as the API news landed. Truth API is being sold as the monetization plan.

Public Silence, Private Alarm

One Wall Street executive told NPR anonymously that "It's insane. I can say for myself and 200 of my friends in finance, we're not getting anywhere near this. In another administration, this would be considered criminal." NPR contacted 12 other major brokers, hedge fund managers, and investors; none would speak on the record, citing fear of administration retaliation. That silence is itself the story.

The Legal Question Is Insider Trading, Not Emoluments

Boston College professor and former senior SEC official Renée Jones told NPR the offering appears to run afoul of insider trading rules under 17 CFR 240.10b5-2, which bars misuse of nonpublic information obtained through a duty of trust or confidence, and the 2012 STOCK Act, which prohibits the president and federal officials from trading on privileged information. She flagged the likely defense: because the arrangement was announced publicly, TMTG's lawyers can argue it lacks the deceit at the core of securities fraud. TMTG spokeswoman Shannon Devine put it more bluntly: "Truth API offers customers the fastest way to ingest publicly available Truth Social data. Critics must have invented a new theory of 'insider trading' based on publicly available information."

Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff wrote SEC Chair Paul Atkins in late July, calling the setup "an outrageous abuse of the President's office for his personal benefit", and requesting a formal legal analysis. Mark Warner wrote six major financial trade groups urging members not to subscribe, calling it "a clear and unacceptable pathway for corruption." Chuck Schumer called it an "earth-shattering scandal" and "the definition of insider trading."

What to Watch

The signal in the next two quarters is whether Truth API subscription revenue shows up in TMTG's filings, and whether the SEC responds to the Warren-Schiff letter with anything beyond its standard declined to comment. Truth API takes an informational edge that already existed around presidential posts and puts a $100,000 price tag on it. That is a bad development for retail investors, who now sit on the wrong side of a formalized, licensed latency gap.

On July 29, the Department of Commerce announced it intended to provide $874 million in federal incentives to seven AI and advanced computing companies in exchange for equity.

This isn’t the first time the Trump administration announced a similar equity-connected deal. Last year, the government invested $8.9 billion in Intel. In May of this year, it invested a little over $2 billion in 9 quantum computing companies in what it called “a portfolio approach.”

The tax breaks in Trump's 'big beautiful bill' expire after 2028 — and experts say most people won't act in time. What to do before the window closes

“The CHIPS R&D Office is taking a portfolio approach to strengthen and accelerate US leadership across multiple quantum modalities at once,” said Bill Frauenhofer, executive director of semiconductor investment and innovation at the Department of Commerce, in the Department’s press release on the deal.

The government owning equity in private companies is unusual, to say the least. And experts say that the way the Trump administration is approaching equity could be easy to abuse.

“The federal government has powers no private shareholder possesses,” said Tad DeHaven, policy analyst at the Cato Institute, in an email to Moneywise. “A government that owns the players cannot be trusted to call the game fairly.”

Here’s what makes government ownership stakes such a big deal — and what it could mean for you.

The government has owned equity in companies before, but not like this

While it is unusual, the U.S. government holding equity in private companies has occurred before. But there’s one big difference in past ownership deals compared to these new ones.

“It hasn’t been normal for Washington to accumulate stakes in otherwise private companies as a routine economic policy tool,” DeHaven said. He says that several administrations — including the Carter, Bush, and Obama administrations — have accumulated stakes in companies during emergencies, such as during the Great Recession or after 9/11.

“Whatever one thinks of those interventions, they were justified as emergency stabilization measures and generally intended to be unwound,” DeHaven said. “The second Trump administration is doing something quite different.”

Each of these deals has been brokered at least partially through the CHIPS and Science Act, a Biden-era bill that allows the government to fund domestic semiconductor production. During the Biden administration, CHIPS deals did not involve the government receiving equity stake in the companies they funded.

In September 2025, the Department of Commerce announced a new funding path for CHIPS called the “Investment Fund Path.”

The CHIPS R&D Office decides which path a company qualifies for, and companies who are chosen for the investment fund path “may be required to issue to the Department equity, warrants, licenses to intellectual property, royalties or revenue sharing, or other such instruments to ensure a return on investment to the Government.”

Ensuring a return on investment makes the new path sound more like a money-making strategy than a push to promote domestic production and job growth. It also tracks with Trump’s previous calls for a sovereign wealth fund.

The White House Press Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

What this chip company deal means for you

Howard Lutnick, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, says that the most recent CHIPS deal “will enhance our country’s domestic capabilities, create high-paying jobs and keep America at the forefront of our semiconductor industry” in the Department’s release.

But what other ways could these deals impact the average consumer?

In the short term, DeHaven says it could provide protection to the company in question, along with the employees and suppliers that work there. But ultimately, regular citizens aren’t the ones who get dividends when the company’s stock goes up — the government does.

“Any return goes to the government under the applicable budget rules, while taxpayers remain exposed to losses and possible follow-on bailouts,” DeHaven said.

The government could use the ROI they get from the deal to fund programs that help Americans. But historically, the Trump administration has been more focused on cutting these programs instead.

Indirectly, DeHaven says that deals like this could “weaken market discipline, steer private capital toward politically favored firms, and place competitors and startups at a disadvantage.”

He also warns that Trump setting this precedent could lead to future administrations following his lead.

“Once Washington normalizes owning private companies, the remaining fight is over which politicians get to use that power and for what purposes,” Dehaven said.

Meta's EPS miss reflects $2.4 billion in one-time legal charges, not ad weakness, while Amazon's AWS hit 37% growth, and both stocks screen as attractive.

Apple's nine-quarter beat streak triggered a 9% post-earnings sell-off as tariff refunds flattered margins at a stretched 40x multiple.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Apple didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

Following a wave of mega-cap earnings, Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) at $556.71 screens as attractive, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) at $308.91 looks fairly valued, and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) at $271.58 screens as attractive. All three reported in late July, and the reaction split three ways.

Meta missed on EPS as legal charges and severance compressed margins. Apple beat but sold off on tariff-tailwind concerns. Amazon delivered its fastest AWS growth in 18 quarters and rallied hard. Here is how the setups line up now.

Meta: An Overdone Reaction to a One-Quarter Cost Spike

Meta's $6.18 EPS missed the $7.22 consensus by 14.42%, snapping a six-quarter beat streak. Operating margin compressed from 43% to 31% as $2.4 billion in legal charges and $1.18 billion in severance from an 8,000-role cut hit the quarter. Free cash flow collapsed to $784 million from $8.55 billion.

The bull case: revenue still grew 27.96% to $60.80 billion, ad impressions rose 14%, price per ad rose 12%, and daily users hit 3.60 billion. Analysts carry a $824.68 average target with 57 Buys and zero Sells. The bear case: capex of $30.12 billion (+82.1% YoY) squeezes FCF right as youth-liability trials loom.

At $556.71, Meta screens as attractive on the setup. Here is why. The margin hit is concentrated in non-recurring legal and severance items while ad pricing and impressions keep compounding. Shares are down 15.52% YTD and 27.79% over one year, badly trailing the S&P 500. Analyst targets are not guarantees, but at a 20x multiple with 82% gross margins, the dip discounts too much.

META Price Target — 24/7 Wall St.Apple: A Beat Priced In, and Then Some

Apple posted $109.417 billion in revenue (up 16.36%) and $2.02 EPS, its ninth straight beat. Yet shares fell 9.14% the day after filing while the S&P 500 was flat.

Bull case: iPhone jumped to $54.25 billion from $44.58 billion, Services hit $30.74 billion, and every geography grew double digits. R&D climbed to $11.73 billion as Apple introduced "all-new Siri AI" at WWDC26.

Bear case: tariff refunds added roughly 2 points of gross margin and $0.11 to EPS as a one-time benefit. At 40x earnings the multiple leaves little room for a China stumble, and Reddit sentiment on wallstreetbets collapsed to a very bearish reading of 8 within 24 hours. Analyst consensus of $321.66 sits barely above spot.

At $308.91, Apple looks fairly valued. Here is why. The business is executing, but the market is signaling that tariff refunds flattered the beat and the AI story still needs proof. Shares are up 13.84% YTD, and with 28 Buys, 16 Holds, and 3 Sells, the sell-side itself is split. Patience may be warranted until iPhone 18 volumes and Siri AI monetization show through.

AAPL Price Target — 24/7 Wall St.Amazon: AWS Reacceleration Is the Story

Amazon's $200.606 billion revenue beat by 2.12% and EPS of $5.75 blew past $1.8227, aided by a $53.4 billion Anthropic-related non-operating gain. AWS grew 37% to $42.23 billion, its fastest pace in 18 quarters, at a 39.4% operating margin.

Bull case: AI and Chips businesses each cleared $25 billion run rates, advertising rose 26%, and Q3 guidance targets $22.5 billion to $26.5 billion in operating income against $17.4 billion a year ago. Bear case: capex hit $54.21 billion, pushing TTM free cash flow negative at -$7.6 billion. Analyst consensus of $313.07 implies only modest upside.

At $271.58, Amazon screens as attractive on the setup. Here is why. Shares are up 17.66% YTD and 17% in a week, outrunning the S&P 500. With 59 Buys and zero Sells, AWS reacceleration justifies the capex intensity. Targets are not guarantees, but the operating leverage into 2027 is the sharpest setup of the three.
