Martha Stewart's account of a recent dinner party with Meghan Markle is being challenged by the person who hosted the event, days after the lifestyle icon said the Duchess of Sussex had been talking about her family's European trip.

Stewart, 85, revealed in a new PEOPLE cover interview that she and Meghan had recently attended the same dinner in California.

She said Meghan had “just gotten back from the palace” and that although they barely spoke themselves, she knew the duchess had been talking about the trip.

Now, the unnamed host says Stewart's description gives the wrong impression. “I sat next to Meghan at the dinner party, and this account of what happened is simply untrue,” the source told PEOPLE.

The Dinner Host Says Meghan Barely Discussed the Trip

The source told PEOPLE that they hosted the California gathering and sat beside Meghan during dinner. According to the host, Meghan did not discuss the family's European travels in any detail. “Meghan didn't talk about her European vacation other than to say the family had a great time,” the source said.

The host added that Meghan has long been a fan of Stewart and enjoyed briefly meeting her. A separate source cited by the Daily Mail offered a similar account, saying another guest asked Meghan about the trip and she responded briefly without elaborating.

The dinner's exact date, location and guest list have not been publicly disclosed. Stewart has not publicly responded to the host's account.

Stewart Said Meghan Had ‘Just Gotten Back From the Palace’

Stewart's original comments appeared in a wide-ranging PEOPLE cover interview published around her 85th birthday. Asked what she is like at parties, Stewart explained that she prefers arriving when dinner is about to begin and leaving shortly after dessert.

She then brought up her encounter with Meghan. “I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night,” Stewart said. “We were both guests at a dinner party in California.” Stewart said she spoke with Meghan for only “a couple words” but knew the duchess had been discussing her recent travels.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the private family reunion took place on July 10th at Highgrove House, Charles' country residence in Gloucestershire. The meeting brought Meghan, Prince Harry, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, together with Charles and Camilla. It was the first time the King had seen Archie and Lilibet in person since 2022.

Meghan Later Shared Photos From the Family's European Trip

Meghan later offered her own public glimpse of the family's travels. The family's travels included Portugal and the U.K., where they visited Althorp, the Spencer family estate that was Princess Diana's childhood home and is now her final resting place.

PEOPLE reported that one photograph showed Harry walking along a tree-lined path at Althorp with Archie and Lilibet while they carried flowers. Other images showed Archie inside an airplane cockpit, Harry tossing Lilibet into a swimming pool and the family enjoying time together during the vacation.

Vanity Fair reported that the Highgrove meeting was deliberately kept private, with no photographs released and few details disclosed about what was discussed.

Stewart Also Questioned Meghan's Lifestyle Career

The disputed dinner recollection was not the only part of Stewart's interview that attracted attention. Asked about Meghan entering the lifestyle television space with Netflix's With Love, Meghan, Stewart questioned the progression from acting to royal life and then to homemaking television.

“If you're an actress, it's hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show,” Stewart said. “It doesn't sort of follow,” she added, according to Entertainment Weekly. With Love, Meghan premiered in 2025 and has aired two seasons and a holiday special. The series has not been renewed for a full third season, although a Sussex spokesperson said in March that it would continue through seasonal specials.

Stewart has previously taken a cautious position on Meghan's move into the lifestyle business. Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle Australia in 2025, she said authenticity and genuine knowledge of a subject were important qualities for anyone entering the field.

Meghan, meanwhile, has treated comparisons with established lifestyle entrepreneurs more positively. Asked in 2025 about being compared with Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow, she said she found the comparison “very flattering” because both women had built successful businesses.

Dame Mary Berry has explained how she is being pragmatic about the future when it comes to designing her garden.

The former Great British Bake Off host, who turned 91 in March, is a keen gardener, and earlier this year published My Gardening Life, an account of her lifelong love of horticulture.

Speaking on the Grow, Cook, Eat, Arrange podcast, the cooking show star revealed that she has to take her advanced years into account when planning how best to use and enjoy the grounds of her riverside home in Henley-upon-Thames.

Berry told the hosts that she and her husband Paul, 93, chose to buy yew trees that were already “fairly big” rather than waiting for them to grow, as they might not be around to see them.

“Obviously you should buy evergreens like a yew, I suppose, about two foot high and wait,” she said.

“Well I’ll be in heaven then so we had to buy them fairly big,” she continued. I suppose they were about four foot because we needed them to get to the top of the tennis court netting.”

She also revealed that she and Paul wanted to install the tall trees “at the front of the house” for privacy reasons, “because people walking along outside could peer in and now, in six years, it’s well about six foot, which is a joy”.

The baking expert and her husband moved to Henley in 2019, downsizing to a Grade II listed property with four bedrooms, which is reportedly worth £2.6 million.

The couple previously lived at a six-bedroom residence in Penn, Buckinghamshire, where they were based for three decades. The property featured in Berry’s solo cooking show Mary Berry Cooks, with the kitchen Aga getting plenty of screen time.

Speaking of their decision to move to Henley, Berry previously explained: “We didn’t want to move too far from our friends, and Henley is only a 35 minute drive.”

“The town is beautiful, It has the river, and there are lots of interesting walks to do. As the years go, we will be able to walk into the town, and it will be nice to not have to get the car out.”

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP) — Jorge Messi, the father of soccer star and Argentina captain Lionel Messi, died Saturday at a hospital in the central Argentina city of Rosario. He was 68.

The Rosario-based Club Atlético Newell’s Old Boys announced his death in a social media post that said he had undergone treatment in recent months for an unspecified illness. The post described him as “the pillar and the person who, with vision, rigor and affection, supported the career of the best player of all time, alongside his wife, Celia Cuccittini.”

The South American Football Confederation, CONMEBOL, in a statement also offered its condolences “with respect and affection for Lionel.”

Lionel Messi led Argentina to a runner-up finish in this year's World Cup. In the team's first match, against Algeria, he was visibly emotional after scoring the first of his three goals. He said later that he wept for “a reason unrelated to sports.”

“I went through some difficult, complicated days,” he said. “I am grateful to the delegation, to all my teammates, because they were always by my side wishing me strength so that I would be OK.”

Media reports at the time outraged the Messi family, which days later released a statement confirming that “Jorge is experiencing a health issue,” without specifying the nature of his condition.

“A person’s health and the peace of mind of their loved ones should not be the subject of speculation or irresponsible media interest,” according to the statement, which also expressed “discomfort at the lack of sensitivity, respect and scruples with which some people have treated a strictly private and family matter.”

Jorge Messi was a chemical technician and worked as a steelworker. He played soccer as a midfielder and reached the youth ranks of Newell’s Old Boys but had to abandon the sport to complete his mandatory military service in Argentina.

He played a fundamental role in his third son’s career, serving as his agent and managing his business affairs. He was the one who traveled with a young Messi to Barcelona in the early 2000s for the trial that would open the doors to La Masia, the Catalan club’s youth academy. Lionel Messi made his professional debut in 2005 and went on to win eight Ballon d’Or awards. He led Argentina to the 2022 World Cup title.

“My dad was always by my side,” Lionel Messi said in a 2007 interview with Radio del Plata. “Sometimes I would lock myself in my room to cry when we arrived in Barcelona, or my dad would do the same without me seeing him, or thinking I didn’t see him. We pretended we were both OK, but we weren’t. My dad even asked me what I wanted to do when we were feeling down, if I wanted to stay or go back, and I wanted to stay, and he stayed with me.”

His father negotiated the contracts with Barça and later his transfers to Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Miami, while also managing the use of his famous son’s image rights and his numerous investments in real estate, hotels, and restaurants.

In 2016, father and son were convicted in the Spanish courts on tax evasion charges, but avoided prison because the sentence was less than two years.

Observers were quick to note President Donald Trump’s apparently fuller head of hair during a rally this week in Nevada — but his estranged niece said it reminded her of serious family history.

Mary Trump told SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah in an interview which dropped on YouTube Friday that speculation over her uncle’s golden ‘do made her recall her grandfather, developer Fred Trump, who struggled with dementia.

The elder Trump would frequently obsess over his hair amd his struggle with Alzheimer’s, she said:

DEAN OBEIDALLAH: Let’s talk one lighter topic and we’ll get back to a more serious one.

I mean, did you see yesterday his hair was a golden — He looked like some golden boy from a different time. I don’t know where it came from. I’m not sure if you saw it in Nevada. His hair was vastly different.

And so everyone’s wondering what is going on now. You’ve got to have people haven’t seen the picture. Google it.

Donald wig and people are saying — isit chinchilla? No one knows what it is, but chinchilla is not that color.

What do you think? Gut feeling. You think is he that vain that it became he saw pictures of himself the other day with the wind and his hair was like this way and now he goes, I need new hair. Let’s do this.

MARY TRUMP: Well, okay. As as you guys know, I do not engage in ad hominem attacks. So, I’m not going to say anything about whether it looked good or not. I don’t really care.

However, he looked like Herby the dentist from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is that that’s what, that was my takeaway.

But here’s the thing. Is he that vain? D is he that vain? Of course he’s that vain.

But what’s really interesting about it to me is that my grandfather had like a receding hairline from the time he was a teenager, right? And he was always very self-conscious about it.

Um, but you know, he had, he wasn’t bald. He just had a you know, receding hairline. Um, but he still had a decent amount of hair when he was in his 80s.

But then he got Alzheimer’s and suddenly he wanted more hair. So he got a very ill-fitting toupee. And um my family, especially Donald, found this absolutely embarrassing.

And my grandfather would dye it and then he would dye it to for his mustache to match and he would leave the dye on too long. So he would end up with a magenta mustache. You know, oh the horrors.

So they literally would stop bringing my grandfather out in public.

Um and now here’s Donald potentially.

I mean I don’t know if it was really a wig or what, but I don’t know was it hair in a can? I don’t know. But suddenly um being all obsessed about his hair kind of like his dad.

OBEIDALLAH: And you mentioned last time we talked this around the same age that Donald’s dad, your grandfather, first saw signs of dementia that you saw.

So maybe this is part of the dementia. Maybe he looks in the mirror. I don’t know. He thinks he’s supposed to be 20 years old and have more hair.

Leon Brownis getting candid about their childhood in a "family of four parents."

The Sister Wives alum—whose dad Kody Brownwas spiritually married to mom Meri Brown, as well as Janelle Brown and Christine Brown Woolley, when they were born in 1995—detailed their unconventional upbringing in a polygamist household.

"We were in the cult then," Leon said in an Aug. 4 TikTok video. "We were homeschooled until we moved to Utah when I was 10, and then we started going to the same church—cult church—which was sort of like the main one."

According to the 31-year-old—the third oldest of Kody’s 18 kids, including five from Kody's marriage to fourth sister wife Robyn Brown—religion "got a little all encompassing" when they started attending the church's school.

"On Thursdays, we had primary, which is like religious education for children—or religious indoctrination for children," they continued. "There's some religious, like, scrupulosity there. It was rewarding, and I was rewarded for it."

While Leon said they "loved" going to primary classes at the time, they're now "not actually sure" if they enjoyed its teachings looking back.

"Who's to say?" they added. "This is like weird because I don't talk about this a lot."

But Leon isn't the only one of the Browns who has described their family life as a "cult." Christine—who was with Kody for more than 25 years before their 2021 breakup—believes she "grew up in a cult" within a "fundamentalist, polygamist Mormon” community.

“I believe I raised my children in a cult," the mom of six wrote in her 2025 memoir Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Finding Freedom. "I hadn’t been brainwashed. But just like everyone else, I had a tunnel of thoughts with a particular set of boundaries."

Christine said she had a revelation when some of her kids "figured it out as young adults." with her daughter Gwendlyn, 24, coming back from chuch camp one day telling her how “all these girls want to do is have babies."

Texas Children’s Hospital will open the nation’s first detransition clinic as part of a settlement with the state

The clinic must provide free services for five years and include resources like psychiatry, surgery, and fertility counseling

The nation’s first clinic intended to reverse gender transition care will open in Texas, and as part of a children’s hospital’s settlement with the state, there’s a tight timeline on when it will open.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced in a statement that the nation’s first detransition clinic will open at Texas Children’s Hospital by the end of October. It’s part of an agreement to settle a state investigation with the Justice Department over allegations that the hospital fraudulently billed Texas Medicaid for gender-affirming treatments using false diagnosis codes.

PEOPLE reached out to Texas Children’s Hospital for comment, but they did not immediately respond.

“This historic settlement is a resounding defeat for the radical gender ideology that has preyed on Texas children under the guise of ‘care,’ ” said Paxton in the statement. “Texas Children’s has agreed to pay millions back to Texas. The detransition clinic, which is the first of its kind, must open within months. Activist doctors who harmed children have been fired. This settlement sends an unmistakable message: if you put radical ideology over children’s health, my office will go after you. We will continue to lead the way in stopping the far-left’s radical gender agenda.”

Per the settlement, the clinic must offer “Endocrinology, Surgery, Primary Care, Fertility Counseling, Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Social Work/Case Management (to include navigation of insurance, legal name changes, patient navigator role to coordinate across departments), and Speech Pathology.”

The clinic must also have “an easily accessible landing page” on the hospital’s website, which, per the settlement, must also include the detransition clinic as an option for charitable giving.

The clinic, intended to serve patients up to age 21 who have received gender-affirming care — called “sex-rejecting procedures in the settlement” — must offer services “at no cost to patients for a period of five (5) years.”

In a statement, Brad Pritchett, the CEO of the nonprofit LGBTQIA+ rights advocacy group Equality Texas, said, “Paxton is blackmailing a hospital system into creating a resource that no one is asking for. It ignores the actual science and years of data about the overwhelming benefits of gender-affirming care, and it completely disregards the huge number of trans people who owe their lives to the very care Paxton is opposing. It is embarrassing that a hospital once revered for its care has lost its integrity and put politics over patients.”

Lindsey Buckingham says he and Stevie Nicks are on good terms these days after their years-long drama.

The former Fleetwood Mac guitarist says he talks with Nicks, whom he dated from 1972 until 1976, all the time now.

He added that working on the band’s upcoming Apple TV documentary has been a very healing experience for everyone.

Time not only casts a spell — it’s also healed all wounds between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

The former Fleetwood Mac guitarist revealed that he and Nicks have put their longtime feud behind them and are now on good terms as they work together on the band’s upcoming Apple TV documentary.

“Stevie and I are talking all the time now,” Buckingham told E! News while walking the carpet at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event yesterday. “And so it’s really… that’s appropriate to our history.”

In fact, the “Don’t Stop” singer explained that working on the documentary, which is slated to be released early next year, has had a positive impact not only on their relationship, but the entire band.

“I think the process of making that has been a very circular, healing, process for all of us,” Buckingham said. “Because we had left things in 2019, maybe as far as I was concerned, not in a very good place for all the wrong reasons. No one was happy about it, and all of that has been healed and worked out.”

Buckingham was famously ousted from Fleetwood Mac ahead of their “An Evening With Fleetwood Mac” world tour in 2018. His dismissal sparked years-long drama between him and the band, with Buckingham going as far as to take legal action against his bandmates. It got so bad that Nicks even issued a statement denying Buckingham’s claims that she got him fired in 2021.

However, in recent years, it appears that Buckingham has been able to mend fences with his former bandmates, including Nicks. Just last year, the pair, who dated from 1972 until 1976, came together to remaster and re-release their first and only album, Buckingham Nicks.

That doesn’t mean he’s keen to revisit all of Fleetwood Mac’s music, though.

“The memories are all mixed up with just rising about the difficulties to follow our destiny,” Buckingham explained. “I can’t say I go back and listen to those [Fleetwood Mac] albums very much, I tend to want to move forward and not look back too much.” (He did, after all, write “Never Going Back Again.”)

In addition to the documentary, 2027 also marks the 50th anniversary of Fleetwood Mac’s legendary record, Rumours. “Next year should be a pretty interesting year,” Buckingham teased. “Because I think quite a few things will reveal themselves.”
