- Director Adrian Lyne’s *Fatal Attraction*’s first big sex scene includes a humorous moment involving a Michael Douglas’ pants.

- The moment includes, the filmmaker claims, a single frame “of his balls.”

- Douglas has previously discussed his own contributions to the iconic sequence from the groundbreaking erotic thriller.

For Michael Douglas, *Fatal Attraction* showed off far more than his acting chops.

At a screening of *Unfaithful* at the Academy Museum on Aug. 14, the film’s director Adrian Lyne also discussed his seminal erotic thriller, the genre-changing *Fatal Attraction*, which starred Douglas and Glenn Close. The film, which had shown at the same venue the previous night, is famed for its sexually charged story in which Douglas’ Dan Gallagher is trapped in a steamy affair with the increasingly unstable Alex Forrest, played by Close.

The movie’s first sex scene occurs in an atypical location: Alex’s kitchen.

“I try and avoid the bed because it’s a little bit boring,” Lyne explained. “It was over a sink, and what’s nice then is you think, *Well, oh so there’ll be crockery in there or plates or something, and they clank around, you know, and that’s funny, potentially funny. And there could be water in the sink.* It’s nice the way you sort of build on it and build on it ... so she could put a hand in [the water] and she could slosh it around on her breasts.”

This humor, Lyne said, is essentially for steamy scenes, because it allows the audience to have places to laugh.

“I think there always has to be humor. I think that’s really important, because people — especially in England and America, I think — sort of are a little bit embarrassed. So if you don’t give them something to laugh at, they’ll laugh at you, and then you’re screwed,” he continued.

Douglas, Lyne said, is especially good at playing these comedic beats.

“He’s got a lovely sense of humor, Michael,” Lyne said. “He’s very good with comedy, and when he was trying to get out of his pants at the end, and he couldn’t, and she was sort of laughing. And before we did the scene, he said, ‘Are you sure you want to shoot it this way?’”

Lyne explained to Douglas that he did, though Douglas did not “have any underwear on,” the director recalled, since in the scene, his underwear is around his feet.

“There’s one frame, one frame only, of his balls,” Lyne revealed.

At the *Fatal Attraction *screening on Aug. 13, Lyne added of the secret frame, “We left it in. It’s so quick you didn’t see it,” according to Gold Derby.

Douglas has previously talked about the sex scenes from the movie, including in an interview for *EW Reunites *in 2017.

“Sex in movies is always a delicate line. Glenn was raring to go,” Douglas shared. “We got up there on the kitchen table, and she came up with this great idea with the sink, with the water running and making herself wet, which is always good.”

While Douglas echoed Lyne’s sentiments on the scene’s laugh breaks, he did take credit for the pants moment, contrasting with Lyne’s recent description of Douglas’ hesitation.

“The only thing I threw in, I remember, was this moment where we were going at it, [and since] I like comic relief, I think you need a second [of it], and there’s a second where I had my pants down [while] carrying Glenn, then tripping, and then having to make this run for the bed ... It kind of let the audience relax for a second.”

Future screenings and events at the Academy Museum include a series presenting films shot in VistaVision presented in the original horizontally projected format. Movies in the series include *The Ten Commandments*, *North by Northwest*, *White Christmas*, and *One Battle After Another*.

Lesley Vogel addressed her estrangement from daughter Hayden Panettiere with Entertainment Tonight on Aug. 20

“Although my daughter and I were estranged, it was not for lack of care or love,” Vogel told ET. “It was due to the involvement of a toxic individual who I believe led to her death”

Vogel’s most recent statement comes after she received criticism over her initial remarks regarding Panettiere’s death

Hayden Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, is addressing their estrangement following the actress’ death.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, Aug. 20, Vogel, 70, opened up about the distance between herself and her daughter in the years before Panettiere’s death, insisting their estrangement did not mean she stopped caring for her.

“Although my daughter and I were estranged, it was not for lack of care or love,” Vogel told ET. “It was due to the involvement of a toxic individual who I believe led to her death.”

Vogel did not identify the “toxic individual” by name in her statement to ET. Just days earlier, she publicly criticized Panettiere’s on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson while discussing her daughter’s death.

“This person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death,” Vogel told NBC News on Aug. 18. “And that was Brian Hickerson.”

“I think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments,” Vogel continued, “and I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry—it is a struggle and it’s a very challenging industry and it’s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path.”

In her subsequent statement to ET, Vogel again referred to her daughter becoming involved with the “wrong person,” though she did not explicitly identify that person as Hickerson.

“Hayden was a beautiful and talented young woman who unfortunately became involved with the wrong person, and although her family tried to extricate him from her life, we were unable to be successful,” she said.

Vogel concluded the statement by asking that her daughter be remembered for more than the circumstances surrounding her death.

“I hope all remember Hayden for the beautiful human being inside her and her gift to the world from her time on this earth,” she said. “My heart is with you, Hayden. Mama.”

Vogel also told ET that a narcotics investigator had joined the investigation into her daughter’s death, a development she said left her with lingering questions about what happened.

“It leads me to believe there are still questions surrounding what happened, and I think we are all looking for answers,” she said.

Sloan Ellis, an attorney for Hickerson, told TMZ in a statement on Thursday, Aug. 20: “Hayden’s death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed. As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play. Out of respect for Hayden’s loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time.”

Panettiere was found unresponsive in a Greenville, S.C., residence on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 16, and was pronounced dead. She was 36. Hickerson and his brother Zach were with her at the time of her death, authorities have said.

Vogel received criticism after she first spoke about Panettiere’s death, and Gayle King shared her candid reaction to her statement on the Wednesday, Aug. 19, broadcast of CBS Mornings.

“You know, guys, you read this and all I can think is, ‘Thanks, Mom, for nothing,’” King said of Vogel’s statement. “It makes me so sad of the opportunity that you have after your daughter’s death that that’s what you choose to leave us with.”

Vladimir Duthiers added, “I mean, Hayden Panettiere spent years publicly acknowledging her own failures, her own struggles. She did it with you in that interview. She cannot respond now, and for her mother to use these days after Hayden’s death to just remind the world just how much trauma she caused, it’s unseemly.”

The Nashville star previously opened up about her estranged relationship with her mother in both her May 2026 memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, and her appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty. The actress explained that being a child star blurred the lines of Vogel’s roles as her mother and manager.

In May, Panettiere said she hoped her relationship with Vogel could eventually be repaired. “Unfortunately, we don’t have a relationship right now,” she told Us Weekly at the time. “But that doesn’t mean that I don’t leave the door open for the opportunity to present itself one day.”

Could you imagine a world where Ken Jennings had never won Jeopardy!and hadn’t become the most-winning champion of all-time? Yeah, Jennings can’t either.

The now-host sat down with People to talk about the upcoming season of Jeopardy! Masters, which he said has the “most daring wagers, obscure facts, and the hottest brains in America.” Season 4 begins on August 25 for a two-week event with six Jeopardy! greats.

While Jennings hosts Masters, as well as the other tournaments and Celebrityspinoff, he has to wonder what his life would look like if he didn’t win 74 games of Jeopardy!.

“If you never became a Jeopardy! champ, never became host of the whole thing, what do you think you’d be doing today?” the outlet asked him.

“I was pushing 30 when we went on Jeopardy!” Jennings said. “We were doing okay. My wife and I had just had our first baby. We just bought our little starter home outside Salt Lake City, Utah. I was a computer programmer. It was going okay. The only thing was I didn’t really love my job. I wasn’t a very good computer programmer.”

“My wife reminded me that I had this idea to become a mural painter,” the host revealed. “I would paint murals on kids’ walls because I liked doing that for fun.”

“But all of these ideas never happened because I got lucky and I got to go on my favorite show. So, there is a world out there where I lose my very first game. One Daily Double goes the other way; that can happen, and now I’m a zero-game Jeopardy! champion. Maybe I’m painting Winnie-the-Pooh murals in a daycare somewhere, and I’m very happy, and Aaron Rodgers is hosting Jeopardy!. I’m not sure.”

“I mean he was pretty good,” People said.

“He was a solid guest host,” Jennings said, nodding. “He was my wife’s favorite, actually. When I tried to figure out why, and told her I was a guest host too, she said he’s very handsome.”

Jennings went on to say that the percentage of questions on the show that he knows the answer to has “declined over time.” Most of the time, he can’t think of someone’s name.

DP World Tour star Grant Forrest said he would welcome another FaceTime call from Donald Trump should he retain his Nexo Championship title at Trump International Golf Links Scotland this weekend.

Forrest, 33, secured his second win on the DP World Tour with a four-stroke victory at the U.S. President's luxury golf course in Aberdeenshire, in August 2025, rewarding him with not only $467,500 in prize money but a personal call from Trump himself.

"He's some player," said Trump of Forrest as he spoke on a phone being held by Sarah Malone, the executive vice president at the Menie Estate venue. "I look forward to playing with him. In fact, I'll play with him tomorrow if he could get on a plane. Get on a plane and come over here, Grant!"

• Becky Hammon ejected after screaming in ref's face as Fever catch Aces in WNBA standings

• Enes Kanter Freedom issues ultimatum to WNBA after convincing ex-NBA players to join grift

In response, a smiling Forrest said, "Let's do it, Mr. President!" though that would be as close as they'd come to stepping on the golf course together, as the Scotsman revealed just a month later that it had "been radio silence since the win".

"I didn't take him up on his offer to play the very next day," Forrest said in September 2025. "Bonkers, really. I suppose he's more speaking to me as the owner of the golf course in that situation, but he just happens to be the president of the United States."

Back to defend his title this week, however, the East Lothian man has revealed that he would be more than open to speaking with President Trump once more if he is able to retain his title at the same venue come Sunday.

According to The Scotsman, Forrest laughed at the reminder of last year's conversation with Trump and admitted it would be "nice" to be offered the opportunity again.

However, in order to do so, he will have to pull off another impressive performance as he did just over 12 months ago, though he should certainly be inspired by a giant image of himself from last year on the side of the Players' Lounge.

"Yeah, it is a good feeling," said Forrest of being greeted by that picture on his arrival this week. "Anywhere you've won, you have fond and special memories, and it's great to come back here as the defending champion."

With former Masters champion and Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed among his rivals on this occasion, however, things certainly won't be smooth sailing for Forrest, especially on a course where his winning total 12 months ago was just eight under par.

Forrest got his title defense off to a rocky start during Thursday's first round, carding an even-par 72

Unfortunately for the Scotsman, that has so far proved to be true, after getting his title defense off to a rocky start in Thursday's opening round, shooting an even-par 72.

Forrest found himself 4-over par through just five holes, though he managed to rally back into contention by carding three consecutive birdies around the turn to steady his scorecard.

He will, however, be hoping for much better when he takes the course for Friday's second round, as he aims to make the weekend's cut and give himself the best chance of winning back-to-back Nexus Championship titles.

A U.S. Air Force plane heading from New Zealand to Antarctica was forced to turn around Tuesday due to a “potentially hazardous” space activity warning.

The American C-17 Globemaster aircraft, using call sign ICE28, initially took off from Christchurch, New Zealand, around 9:00 a.m. local time but returned back to Christchurch less than three hours later due to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) sent by New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

A spokesperson from CAA told The Hill Tuesday that it was made aware of potentially hazardous activity by Russia’s state air traffic management corporation, “resulting in the issuance of a NOTAM advising pilots of the hazard.”

On Wednesday, the spokesperson revealed that it was made aware by Russia of a planned missile launch.

“[We were] made aware by the Russian air traffic agency of a planned missile launch and associated potential hazard to international airspace, within New Zealand’s Oceanic Flight Information Region (FIR),” New Zealand's CAA wrote.

The region is what CAA describes on its website as airspace over the high seas that New Zealand manages under the International Civil Aviation Organization's regional air navigation agreement.

FIR includes a 30-million-square-kilometer area that is mostly international waters, according to New Zealand’s air traffic management authority, spanning the South Pacific Ocean, the Southern Ocean and the Tasman Sea.

“We put in place a danger area and issued a NOTAM to alert aircraft operators to the potential hazard. This does not prevent aircraft from flying through the area, operators make their decisions based on the information available,” the agency continued.

The flight was scheduled as a part of the U.S. Air Force's winter fly season, which transports researchers and necessary equipment to Antarctica before summer research season begins in the region. The aircraft is one flight that is scheduled annually to fly between Christchurch and both the U.S. and New Zealand’s research bases in Antarctica.

Publix recalled frozen organic blueberries and mixed berries due to potential E. coli contamination across eight states

The FDA classified the recall as Class I, indicating potential serious health risks upon consumption

Customers are advised to discard or return affected products and sanitize areas they touched to prevent further contamination

A recall of frozen blueberries has been elevated to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s highest warning level.

The agency classified Publix’s voluntary recall of certain frozen organic blueberries and mixed berries due to potential E. coli contamination as a Class I recall on Aug. 18, per FDA enforcement reports.

The Class I categorization indicates that “a reasonable probability” exists that using or being exposed to the berries “will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,” per the FDA.

The ongoing recall, which was first initiated by Publix on June 25, includes 10-oz. frozen Organic Whole Blueberries with expiration dates before Feb. 9, 2028 and the UPC 41415-06453.

The recall affects 44,994 units of the item, per an FDA enforcement report.

The affected items were distributed in Publix stores across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Publix’s recall of 39,520 units of 10-oz. Organic Whole Mixed Berries with the same expiration dates that were distributed in the same states was also classified as a Class I recall, an FDA enforcement report shows.

The affected Whole Mixed Berries have a UPC of 41415-06753.

The FDA also classified Publix’s recall of 37,260 units of 48-oz. Frozen Organic Whole Blueberries as a Class I recall on Aug. 18, per another enforcement report.

The affected 48-oz. items were also recalled for potential E. coli contamination on June 25 and have expiration dates prior to Feb. 9, 2028. They were distributed in the same states as the 10-oz. recalled blueberries.

The blueberries have the UPC 41415-12053.

The FDA also classified the Publix recall of 48-oz. Frozen Organic Whole Mixed Berries, which impacted 60,320 units with the same expiration dates and distribution states, as a Class I recall.

The impacted mixed berries have a UPC of 41415-12153.

Publix recalled all lots of its GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries due to potential E. coli contamination on July 29, per an FDA announcement.

The recall impacted Organic IQF Frozen Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries in 10-oz. and 48-oz. packages.

The recall follows a more limited recall initiated by the retailer’s supplier, Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., San Carlos, Chile on July 3, which impacted 10-oz. GreenWise Organic Blueberries with lot code 60401 and a best-by date of Feb. 9, 2028.

“Based on the public health officials’ product traceback and epidemiological information, Publix is now taking further action out of an abundance of caution to recall all lots of GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries,” Publix said in its July 29 announcement.

Publix said customers should not consume the affected items, instead discarding them or returning them for a refund.

The company stopped selling the items by the end of June, it said in the announcement.

“These products remain unavailable for sale,” the company said.

Publix and Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The FDA is investigating an outbreak of E. coli linked to the recalled frozen blueberries and mixed berries from Publix. The outbreak has impacted 11 people in Florida and one person in Georgia, with four hospitalizations.

“Do not eat, sell or serve recalled GreenWise Organic Frozen Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries,” the FDA said.
