Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta has been spending time in his native Portugal preparing for FIBA play with the Portuguese National Team this summer, working on his game and connection with his offseason teammates. Speaking in an interview with Portuguese outlet A Bola (transactions via Google) ahead of a tilt in FIBA World Cup qualifying play vs. the Spanish National Team, Queta shared that he had yet to cross paths with Celtics teammate (and Spanish opponent) Hugo Gonzalez despite both having been in Boston in the lead-up to their return to Europe for FIBA play.

"He was there for a day, but I didn't see him," said the Celtics center. However, earlier in the offseason, Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla did pay Queta a visit in Portugal. "I think he liked what he saw," said the Lisbon native.

"He said that there are people who can get there if they want to work hard," he added. "And I think he really liked Portugal."

"I think the thing he liked most was the food," suggested the Boston big man. "It was a good time. He came alone, but he said next year he'll come with his wife and children. We'll welcome them with open arms." Queta also had words for those doubting the Celtics will see the sort of success they had last season after trading star forward Jaylen Brown.

"People have started saying again that the others are good and that we don't have the quality (of a winning team). But I think with the group we have and the people we have in the locker room, and our coach (that we do)."
