Lisa Ann Walter on 'Jeopardy' on Jan. 26, 2026. Credit:
Lisa Ann Walter had a very Melissa Schemmenti-like response when she answered a question wrong during her appearance on *Jeopardy*'s Tournament of Champions on Monday.**
The *Abbott Elementary* star faced off against marketing specialist TJ Fisher and technology manager Mike Dawson during the episode, and it was admittedly not her finest hour. By the time former champ-turned-host Ken Jennings read clue 21, the comedian was already down -200 points. So it's not terribly surprising that when the actress incorrectly guessed that answer and brought her score down even further, she responded by exclaiming, "What the hell?"

Lisa Ann Walter, Mike Dawson, and TJ Fisher on 'Jeopardy' on Jan. 26, 2026.
While that kind of response is to be expected from Walter's sharp-tongued elementary school teacher on Quinta Brunson's award-winning ABC series, it's an unexpected reaction on *Jeopardy. *Walter's reaction garnered quite a few laughs and shocked gasps from the audience, as well as mild discourse from viewers on social media.**
"How do we feel about Lisa cursing?" one Reddit user asked, with another user responding, "I curse while watching so much, especially when a contestant gets a wrong response for some BS...like answering 'What is Dark Side of the Moon?'.. Sorry, we were looking for What is THE Dark Side of the Moon...."

A viewer on X wrote, "Did not have Lisa Ann Walter casually breaking the *Jeopardy! *decorum on my bingo card 😂."
Another person argued on X that "Hell isn't a curse word," adding that Walter is "a lovely person and a fantastic actress. Who cares if she did curse. So many other things that are going on are worse than hearing a curse word."**

Luckily for the *Parent Trap *star, Monday's episode isn't a total loss since she's already won a season of *Jeopardy*.
She previously won season two of *Celebrity Jeopardy!* in 2024 — an achievement that she plans to take with her to her grave, she revealed during Monday's episode. During the interviews, when asked about her previous win, Walter declared that she wants her ashes stored in the trophy when she dies.
"I'm going to be buried in [my Jeopardy! trophy], it's my urn," she told Jennings. "I fought for it, I won it and it's going to go to good use. And I'm not kidding, it is now in my will."**
Walter echoed those same sentiments during an interview with *The Daily Beast* after her win in 2024. The actress said that after winning *Celebrity Jeopardy*, she felt like she didn't need any other award.
"Once I won, I said, 'I'm good now.' I don't have to win anything else," she told the outlet at the time. "I mean, I'd still like an Emmy and an Oscar — but do I have to win anything else? No, I don't, because I'm a *Jeopardy *champion."
*Jeopardy *airs weeknights on ABC.**
