*Grey's Anatomy* hit pause on production Friday, as its crew members stand in solidarity with calls for a national shutdown promoted by University of Minnesota student groups, * *has learned.

The decision to suspend production for one day was made after it was learned that crew members planned to abide by the initiative's call for a "nationwide day of no school, no work, and no shopping," to "stop ICE's reign of terror," as noted by organizers on their website.

Filming will resume on the Shondaland series on Saturday.

The "National Shutdown" protest aims to put pressure on the Donald Trump administration to end the federal immigration enforcement crackdown in the city. "The people of the Twin Cities have shown the way for the whole country — to stop ICE's reign of terror, we need to SHUT IT DOWN," organizers wrote on their website.

"The entire country is shocked and outraged at the brutal killings of Alex Pretti, Renee Good, Silverio Villegas González, and Keith Porter Jr. by federal agents," the website states. "While Trump and other right wing politicians are slandering them as 'terrorists,' the video evidence makes it clear beyond all doubt: they were gunned down in broad daylight simply for exercising their First Amendment right to protest mass deportation."

The statement continues, "Every day, ICE, Border Patrol and other enforcers of Trump's racist agenda are going into our communities to kidnap our neighbors and sow fear. It is time for us to all stand up together in a nationwide shutdown and say enough is enough!"

Information about the initiative spread quickly on social media, shared by famous activists, political figures, and celebrities such as Hannah Einbinder, Ariana Grande, and Pedro Pascal. The website for the shutdown also lists 250 sites for protests on Friday across 46 states, including major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

The nationwide protests are expected to culminate with an "ICE Out of Everywhere National Day of Action" organized by 50501 on Saturday.

The deaths of Good and Pretti are the latest to gain national attention as at least 32 people died in ICE custody in 2025 amid Donald Trump's aggressive immigration crackdown, making it the agency's deadliest year in two decades, per The American Prospect.
