Jeremy previously left Salem nearly 20 years ago after being linked to an illegal operation known as 'Fly By Night.' Although he was arrested at the time, the character ultimately avoided charges through a deal he made.

During his earlier run on the show, Jeremy was in a relationship with Stephanie Johnson (then played by Shelley Hennig, now portrayed by Abigail Klien). The storyline established that the relationship involved emotional and physical abuse which contributed to Jeremy's exit from Salem.

In a 2025 storyline, Stephanie launched a writing career under the pseudonym Anastasia Sans and published an adult contemporary romance novel titled One Story Night. The story indicated that elements of the book were inspired by her past relationships, including a scene she suggested was drawn from her history with Jeremy.

When Jeremy returned to Salem, he claimed he had changed and said he was back to accept a teaching position. Stephanie remained skeptical. Soon after his return, she began receiving threats from an anonymous stalker.

The attacker has since targeted her fiancé, Alex Kirakis (Robert Scott Wilson), allegedly poisoning his drink and later attempted a knife attack. While several characters suspect Jeremy is responsible, the show has not yet confirmed the stalkers identity.

With that said, viewers were given their first glimpse at who potentially is behind the attack, during the series winter preview, Owen Kent (Wes Ramsey) appears to be returning to Salem. Given Owen's previous obsession with Stephanie, viewers suspect he may be the one behind the attacks. But viewers will have to stay tuned to see how things play out.

Days of Our Lives streams weekdays on Peacock.
