Halley Kate is teasing her upcoming nuptials to fiancé Reed Williams.The influencer, 25, announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend Reed Williams on Jan. 23. "He ate with the 💍," Kate, whose real name is Halley Kate McGookin, wrote in the caption of her post.Days after her engagement announcement, Kate shared more details about her impending wedding in a series of Instagram Stories."Why don't you want a traditional wedding?" a follower asked in a question box on Kate's story.The influencer launched into an explanation, writing over the Stories post, that while she loved "friends weddings and being a guest," she didn't necessarily love "where the tradition of a wedding stems from."

"TO ME it's very much giving women were property and handed off from their dad to their new man," she explained of her rationale.
"Also I HATEEE forced attention," she continued. "Don't get me wrong, I love attention like wearing a cute outfit and people just compliment me or something because I don't feel like anyone one had to do that. I hate my birthday for the same reason, I hate when everyone has to pay attention to you because something's about you, or like everyone has to tell you they are having so much fun because it's your wedding/birthday!"
"I also can't imagine dead serious hitting play on a song and making all my friends and family sit in silence as I walk down an aisle. I actually can't think of anything i would rather do less," she continued.Kate also admitted that she has a "hard time with emotions and all of that, so I think getting married is a very intimate moment and I wouldn't want other people to be a part of it because I would not handle that well!"Kate also had a similar take on the concept of a bachelorette trip, revealing that she wouldn't be having one."I think the concept of bachelorettes has gotten incredibly out of hand," she wrote. "The concept of asking people to go somewhere and spend like 3 days worth of a vacation just for me makes me uncomfortable."

Going on, the influencer said that she would likely have a "really fun party for everyone in NYC," calling it an engagement/bachelorette/bachelor party all in one!"Kate has been vocal in the past about not wanting to have a wedding. In a June 2025 clip from her podcast Delusional Diaries, which she co-hosts with fellow influencer and best friend Jazmyn Smith, the influencer clarified her stance on weddings."Someone was asking if seeing this wedding had changed your perspective at all on getting married," Smith asked Kate on the podcast, referring to her own wedding, which went viral in the spring of 2025 for Smith's dedicated commitment to posting content about it on her social media."I'm not against getting married," Kate said in the clip. "I just want to make that clear cause I see that 'Halley doesn't even want to get married.' I have nothing against marriage.""You're against weddings?" Smith clarified."I just don't want to have a wedding is what I've always said. Seeing your wedding confirmed for me that I would never want to do a wedding like that."
