Texas vs Ohio State is the headliner, but there are more college football Week 2 games with critical CFP implications.

The College Football Playoff is getting close. At least, that's what we keep telling ourselves.

This week, the CFP's official X account reminded everyone we're 100 days from the opening-round games of the third 12-team playoff.

Close enough.

It's also close enough to start circling the games that could carry major playoff implications. Four are obvious. One takes a little convincing.

College football picks: Who wins Ohio State or Texas, rest of Week 2 Top 25 games?

Week 2 pressure cooker: Steve Sarkisian, Bryce Underwood feel the heat

Here are five Week 2 games with undeniable CFP stakes.

No. 1 Ohio State vs No. 3 Texas

This is the return matchup in a marquee home-and-home series that began with Ohio State's season-opening victory in Columbus a year ago. Both teams return their quarterbacks, but all eyes are on Texas star Arch Manning, a preseason Heisman favorite.

The Longhorns spent the offseason adding firepower, most notably tailback Hollywood Smothers from NC State and receiver Cam Coleman from Auburn. The expectation is clear: Texas isn't just built for the CFP. It's built to win it.

That's what makes this game so critical. With difficult road trips to Tennessee, Oklahoma, LSU and Texas A&M still ahead, the Longhorns can't afford to let a potential season-defining victory slip away at home.

Hayes: Arch Manning has the name. Now he needs the moment

No. 10 Oklahoma vs No. 24 Michigan

If Lane Kiffin weren't cornering the market on college football drama, Michigan might be wearing the black hat this week after its controversial walk-off survival against four-touchdown underdog Western Michigan.

The Wolverines now head into a massive showdown with Oklahoma amid a growing quarterback storyline. First-year coach Kyle Whittingham has made clear that Bryce Underwood's grip on the job isn't permanent, no matter how much NIL money helped land him in Ann Arbor. Underwood has shrugged off the comments, but the reality remains: Elite recruits don't get endless opportunities.

Facing a veteran Oklahoma defense is no time for experimentation. Yet if Underwood falters, Michigan has another option waiting. Should Tommy Carr take over, the Carr brothers could suddenly be leading two bluebloods at quarterback: CJ at Notre Dame and Tommy at Michigan.

Hayes: Michigan didn't hire Kyle Whittingham to babysit a 5-star QB

No. 12 Alabama vs Kentucky

Kenny Minchey looked like one of the nation's most underrated portal additions in his Kentucky debut, making his first start since his senior year at Nashville's Pope John Paul II. Minchey, who previously told USA TODAY Sports he chose Kentucky to work with first-year coach Will Stein and offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, completed 18 of 27 passes for more than 300 yards and four touchdowns against Youngstown State.

Alabama is supposed to boast one of the nation's best secondaries, but standout defensive back Jireh Edwards is questionable and the Tide are still searching for an identity under Kalen DeBoer. For Stein, this game presents the opportunity that eluded predecessor Mark Stoops: a signature win capable of reshaping how Kentucky views itself and how the rest of college football views the Wildcats.

Hayes: Century of history says Kentucky can't beat Alabama. Will Stein doesn't care

Arizona State at No. 9 Texas A&M

Marcel Reed is generating Heisman chatter despite a troubling recent track record against top competition: no touchdown passes, four interceptions and eight sacks over his past eight quarters against Power conference opponents, including seven sacks in Texas A&M's CFP loss to Miami.

The Aggies remain sold on Reed's upside. Now comes the proof.

After Arizona State and Kentucky at home, Texas A&M faces ranked opponents in six of its final nine games. There are almost certainly losses lurking on that stretch.

Which is why a defeat Saturday would be so damaging. Arizona State returns only three starters, and home games against undermanned opponents are the ones playoff contenders simply cannot afford to waste. If Texas A&M slips here, its CFP credentials will take an immediate hit.

Arkansas at No. 20 Utah

In the two years of the 12-team CFP, every Power conference except the Big 12 has produced multiple playoff teams in a single season.

If the Big 12 is finally going to break through, Utah feels like the obvious candidate.

Morgan Scalley's debut as Utes coach was a breeze, piling up nearly 350 rushing yards against an overmatched FCS foe. This week brings a different opportunity: an SEC brand coming to Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Arkansas is rebuilding under first-year coach Ryan Silverfield, which is precisely why Utah can't afford to let this one slip away. The game means far more to the Utes and the Big 12's playoff aspirations than it does to a Razorbacks team focused on the long haul.

In fact, Utah shouldn't just aim to win. It should aim to make a statement. If SEC victories are treated as gold in CFP conversations, the Utes might as well collect one as convincingly as possible.

Miranda Worby, 43, from the U.K. town of Lowestoft in Suffolk, first started her obsession when she was around 3 years old, after her parents said she couldn’t have a real horse

She broke the record after amassing 4,550 items from the toy collection

A woman in England is breaking records for having the largest collection of My Little Pony memorabilia.

Miranda Worby features in the new Guinness World Records 2027 book, which is out now, after amassing 4,550 items from the Hasbro-developed toy line, per a press release obtained by PEOPLE.

The 43-year-old, from the U.K. town of Lowestoft in Suffolk, first started her obsession when she was around 3 years old, after her parents said she couldn’t have a real horse, the BBC reported.

She started building her collection as a teenager, managing to fill an entire room in her home, as well as a storage unit, 30 years later.

“I don’t know if I saw one in a field or whatever, but I wanted a real horse and my parents said no,” Worby recalled, per the outlet.

“Then I was in the toy shop in town and I saw a My Little Pony on the shelf and that was it, I was addicted after that,” she added.

Worby told PEOPLE that her collection had grown even more since the official Guinness World Record count, with her now owning around 7,500 items.

She said of her collection, “I always had My Little Pony in my life from the age of 3, but I started seriously collecting in 1997, when i found ponies on auction sites and could find the ones I was missing.”

“I think My Little Pony will always be in my life and I will always find something related to that to add to the collection. I can’t see myself not collecting them as I always seem to find items wherever I go,” she continued.

“My collection is now at around the 7,750 mark, although I had a box of them arrive yesterday that I need to add. Having the world records means everything to me, but it is also for the other collectors, to let them know that if you collect what you love, that is what’s it’s all about!” Worby told PEOPLE on Friday, Sept. 11.

Worby, known in her town as the woman “with the ponies,” said that through the years, she’d found items that she didn’t have as a child and had purchased cheap boxes from the U.S. as her collection continued to grow, per the BBC.

Worby — who liked the fact she could take the toys anywhere as a child — said that Guinness had approached her about the record over a year ago on social media.

“There was a message sitting in my [Facebook] inbox and it was sitting in a different one to what I was used to, so I didn’t see it for about three or four months,” she remembered, per the BBC.

Worby — who realizes she may have to give up another room in her house eventually — went on, “It said it was from Guinness World Records and I thought it would be someone trying to get information... so I didn’t think too much of it.”

“I went back to it, opened it, and [realized] they wanted to see if I had the biggest collection in the world,” she continued, per the BBC. “That was a big surprise because people always used to say to me, ‘You must have the biggest collection.’ “

“I was always quite blasé about it... but once I started counting them I had a few more than what I thought,” Worby shared, admitting that the news “didn’t sink in at first.”

“I actually sat in the room with the ponies and I just looked around and I thought, ‘I have the world’s biggest My Little Pony collection,’ “ she said, according to the outlet.

Jared Greenwald secretly taught himself how to code an Apple TV app to propose to his girlfriend, Rebecca Wright

The filmmaker turned about 50 memories from their relationship into Netflix-style “movies,” complete with photos, titles and descriptions

When Wright finally opened what she thought was Netflix, Greenwald had one more surprise waiting inside the couch

Jared Greenwald knew his girlfriend, Rebecca Wright, wanted a proposal that was private, romantic and impossible to see coming, so the 31-year-old filmmaker decided to hide it behind something completely ordinary: the Netflix icon on their TV.

With little coding experience to draw from, he spent months and more than 300 hours figuring out how to build a fake streaming app filled with their life together.

“I had no idea what I was actually getting myself into,” Greenwald tells PEOPLE. “The extent of my coding knowledge probably ended with the beginner class on HTML I took in college.”

The idea started after Greenwald searched online for proposal inspiration and kept finding grand gestures that didn’t feel authentic to his relationship with Wright, a 29-year-old dancer and choreographer. His dad offered another way to approach it: think of the proposal as telling a story and focus less on making it big.

That led Greenwald back to the moments that rarely make it into highlight reels: coming home after a long day, sitting beside Wright on the couch and unwinding with a movie or show. “I liked the idea of taking this normal, everyday moment and using that to create something really special,” he says.

Turning that idea into a working app proved considerably harder. Greenwald estimates he spent more than 300 hours Googling how to code an Apple TV app, then worked nights and weekends for a couple of months so Wright wouldn’t notice what he was doing.

Even finishing the app didn’t mean he was ready to propose. Greenwald realized he still couldn’t make his creation open when Wright clicked the TV’s regular Netflix app, leading him to spend an entire day recreating the icon and the parallax effect used on Apple TV.

The technology, however, was only half of what he had planned. Greenwald spent another month writing down their dinners, trips, inside jokes and other memories before narrowing them down to about 50 titles, each paired with a photo and description written like a Netflix movie logline.

There were rom-coms like “When Jared Met Becca,” a heartwarming “Home Together” and “A Very Jewish Christmas,” inspired by Greenwald meeting Wright’s family. The latter teased the story of “a Jewish boyfriend” entering his first Catholic family Christmas and realizing he had officially been welcomed into the family.

Then, after barely opening Netflix for roughly two months while Greenwald worked on his secret project, the couple unexpectedly started watching Love Is Blind UK the day before he planned to propose. The next night, after dinner, Wright headed for the couch ready to continue the show and clicked the familiar Netflix icon.

Instead, Greenwald’s app appeared, and Wright froze. No matter which “movie” she selected, it played the same video: a clip from one of their favorite films, About Time, intercut with videos of the couple together.

When the screen cut to black, Greenwald reached into the couch for the ring box he had hidden earlier that day and got down on one knee. After hundreds of hours spent preparing every detail, it was the part he thought he had prepared for most that suddenly disappeared.

“Of course, I completely froze, and the entire speech I had planned flew right out of my head,” he recalls. “All I could muster up was, ‘Rebecca Wright. Will you marry me?’ ”

— sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

The proposal was later shared on TikTok, where Wright explained that she had given Greenwald three parameters: it couldn’t happen in public, it had to be incredibly romantic and she couldn’t see it coming. Greenwald’s answer was something elaborate behind the scenes, but rooted in one of the simplest parts of their relationship.

For anyone planning their own proposal, he says recreating his 300-hour coding project isn’t the point. Instead, Greenwald recommends thinking about what matters most within the relationship and finding a way to make a partner feel seen through it.

“It ended up taking way more work and becoming a much bigger project than I ever anticipated,” he says. “But I just wanted her to feel really loved and to know how special those little moments together have always been to me.”

The 25-year-old model looked just like her mother with a voluminous blowout and brown curls.

Kaia Gerber knows she looks just like her supermodel mom Cindy Crawford, and she’s leaning all the way into their look-alike appearance.

On September 9, Gerber, 25, recreated one of Crawford’s most iconic ‘90s looks during a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “Do you get sick of people telling you [that] you look like your mom?” Kimmel asked Gerber, acknowledging the mother-daughter duo’s striking resemblance. Shaking her head, Gerber was quick to respond. “No, please say it more,” she replied. “Thank you.”

For the interview, Gerber took the stage in a figure-hugging white dress, a clear nod to her mom’s white Ralph Lauren halter dress on the runway at New York Fashion Week in 1991. Crawford’s minidress featured a backless design with lapels along the neck and a voluminous circle skirt. Her glam team made the look pop with smoky eye makeup, while Crawford’s hair team styled her feathery brown waves in a breezy side part.

Gerber’s square-neck dress featured two thin straps along the shoulders and a sleek pencil skirt that hit just above her knees. She completed the skintight ensemble with white peep-toe heels and a set of brown waves straight from her mom’s ‘90s lookbook. Letting the dress speak for itself, the 25-year-old model kept her makeup clean and simple, opting for a set of lengthy, neutral nails.

In September 2024, Gerber gave another nod to her mom’s iconic look while attending the premiere of Shell at the Toronto International Film Festival. For the movie premiere, the model wore a bodycon maxi dress with a sweetheart neckline and a built-in bustier by Hervé Léger. She accessorized with a silver necklace and white pointed-toe stilettos.

Gerber isn’t the only celebrity inspired by her mom’s signature ‘90s style. While promoting Challengers in Milan, Italy on April 14, 2024, Zendaya channeled Crawford in a the same, archival Ralph Lauren halter dress Crawford first modeled at NYFW. Like Gerber, Zendaya, who rocked blonde hair at the time, kept her accessories simple, pairing the minidress with Bulgari jewelry and white stilettos.

Wheel of Fortune is spinning the wheel in another direction after announcer Jim Thornton was fired from the show. The game show made a big change to the introductions.

According to TMZ, a source shared that there were no introductions/interim announcer during the Tuesday, September 8 filming. Thornton’s voice was also scrapped from the already filmed Season 44 episodes after photos of him accessing disturbing websites on a plane were released.

The outlet reported that there were no introductions for the show. Typically, Thornton would introduce “the stars of the evening,” Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White. He also would introduce the trip for the prize puzzle, as well as the amount a contestant won at the end of the show, among other things.

It is not clear what will be done or who will replace Thornton when the season begins on Monday, September 14. But Thornton had filmed about one month’s worth of episodes before he was suspended. Producers are working hard to reedit then with someone else’s voice, but that person has not yet been made public, which a source called a “major undertaking.”

However, there was also no mention of Thornton on set. The source shared that both Seacrest and White were in good moods. Seacrest even cracked jokes with the crew and guests.

Thornton was first suspended on September 1. After more details came out about what led to law enforcement stopping him at the gate of his flight, the host was fired on September 4.

“Following a thorough investigation, Jim Thornton’s employment with Wheel of Fortune has been terminated, effective immediately,” a Spokeperson for Sony told TMZ.

A woman sitting next to Thornton on a plane reported the announcer to a flight attendant after she saw him accessing chat rooms with minors and sending disturbing messages. He was stopped by police at the gate, but was let go after five minutes when he was questioned and determined no wrongdoing had occurred.

Fans had suggested that Jeopardy! announcer Johnny Gilbert should take over the role. Others said that Ellen DeGeneres‘ brother, Vance, would be a good fit. Even The Price Is Right announcer George Gray‘s name was thrown into the mix.
