There can only be one, and Henry Cavill is looking right for the job.

The former *Man of Steel *star shared a first look at his turn as Connor MacLeod on Wednesday, giving fans a taste of Chad Stahelski's long-gestating *Highlander* reboot. "Happy First Look," Cavill captioned the post on Instagram. "This has been quite the journey for me, which I'll tell you all about when the time is right, but it's a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy."

The post features two photos of Cavill as the immortal Scottish warrior, stuck in an eternal battle against other fighters for "The Prize." The first photo shows Cavill clad in a stylish leather duster coat with shearling lining. The snapshot captured the character mid-stride in what looks like a temple, surrounded by lit lanterns and candles.

The second photo shows Cavill looking a little more worn as he holds a sheathed katana in a cathedral.

Hailing from Amazon MGM's United Artists banner, the *Highlander* reboot has been in the works since it was first announced in 2021, and only recently began production. The film has hit several setbacks since then, including a delay late last year after Cavill was injured during prep for the film.

However, things are clearly back in motion for the project, with a star-studded cast that includes fellow DC alum Jeremy Irons, Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and *Industry*'s Marisa Abela. Irons will play one of the film's antagonists, the leader of a secret order called the Watchers who keep an eye on immortals, viewing them as a threat to humanity.

Crowe will portray a swordsman who mentors Cavill's Highlander, and Bautista will play an antagonistic immortal known as The Kurgen, while Gillan will star as Connor's very mortal wife. Hounsou will play another immortal warrior, and Abela a love interest for Cavill.

Jeremy Irons attends "The Morning Show" Season 4 New York Premiere at Museum of Modern Art on September 09, 2025 in New York City., Marisa Abela attends the 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards at Barker Hangar on February 07, 2025 in Santa Monica, California. , Djimon Hounsou attends Charity Day 2025 Hosted by Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund at BGC Group on September 11, 2025 in New York City.

The original film starred Christopher Lambert and Clancy Brown as the opposing immortals, who fought to be the last one standing. Sean Connery served as the mentor figure. An epic story told across centuries, the film inspired several sequels and a TV series that aired for six seasons in the '90s.

Back in 2019, Stahelski told EW that he saw the property as one that could "actually sustain a good universe, meaning a TV show or something," as long as he didn't "f--- it up to the point where you cannot continue this story." He added, "We love it so much, we're trying to treat it with a lot of care."**
