- Elon Musk shared an AI-generated video using Sydney Sweeney's likeness to show off the advancement of X's video generation feature.

- Musk previously drew criticism for making an off-color joke about Sweeney's body in December.

- X is currently under investigation from both the California Attorney General's Office and the European Union for the proliferation of sexually explicit content.

Elon Musk is using Sydney Sweeney's likeness to show off the advancement of X's AI.

The Tesla founder shared an AI-generated video featuring a fake version of Sweeney in order to demonstrate the capabilities of xAI's Grok Imagine, the text-to-video feature on the platform formerly known as Twitter.

"Grok video is now 10 seconds and the audio is greatly improved," the former DOGE leader wrote on Wednesday morning.

The video features an AI reproduction of Sweeney saying, "So let me get this straight. Grok videos are now 10 seconds, and the audio is greatly improved?"

Her male "costar" then responds, "Yeah, pretty much... Do you like it?"

The clip originated from user Alex Patrascu, who used the following prompt to generate the video: "Over-the-shoulder shot. Live-action film. They stand put inside a spaceship. She shrugs and says (calm, confused tone) while looking him straight in the eye: 'So let me get this straight. Grok videos are now 10 seconds, and the audio is greatly improved?' He says: 'Yeah, pretty much... Do you like it?' Hollywood blockbuster film, live-action look with rich blacks. Handheld shaky camera. Sound effects: Silent interior hum, LED beeps. No music."

Sweeney's name did not appear in Patrascu's final prompt, so it is unclear why her likeness ended up in the video.

A representative for Sweeney and a representative for X did not immediately respond to **'s requests for comment.

The video came just weeks after Musk received criticism for making a bizarre comment about Sweeney's body on X.

In response to a video of the *Christy* star wearing a low-cut dress at the premiere of *The Housemaid*, Musk posted an AI-generated video broken into quadrants. The top left section of the video read, "What it looks like," with the corresponding image in the top right corner showing a woman with large breasts, while the bottom left section read, "How it feels," with the corresponding image in the bottom right corner showing an illustration of a person experiencing back pain.

Above the video, Musk wrote, "Can't be easy," implying that he feels sympathy for Sweeney because she must also be experiencing back pain due to her proportions.

Grok Imagine launched in July 2025 with a "Spicy" mode that allowed users to generate NSFW images featuring nudity and sexually explicit content.

Earlier this month, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced that his office had opened an investigation into "the proliferation of nonconsensual sexually explicit material" generated by Grok.

"The avalanche of reports detailing the non-consensual, sexually explicit material that xAI has produced and posted online in recent weeks is shocking," Bonta said in a press release. "This material, which depicts women and children in nude and sexually explicit situations, has been used to harass people across the internet. I urge xAI to take immediate action to ensure this goes no further."

Shortly thereafter, X's official Safety account announced that it would restrict users from creating sexually explicit images of real people in areas where such material is illegal. "We will geoblock in jurisdictions where such content is illegal, the ability of all users in those locations to generate images of real people in bikinis, underwear, and similar attire in Grok on X, and xAI is implementing similar geoblocking measures for the Grok app," the company announced.

However, a CBS News investigation found that the platform was still allowing users to undress real people using Grok as of Monday.

The European Union announced its own investigation earlier this week, alleging that X may have violated that Digital Services Act. "The new investigation will assess whether the company properly assessed and mitigated risks associated with the deployment of Grok's functionalities into X in the EU," the European Commission said in a press release. "This includes risks related to the dissemination of illegal content in the EU, such as manipulated sexually explicit images, including content that may amount to child sexual abuse material."
