Katherine Heigl is defending her decision to attend a dog rescue fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, the exclusive Palm Beach club owned by Donald Trump.

"Animals don't vote. The only room they don't like is the euthanasia room at a shelter," the actress shared in a statement.

Heigl has long advocated for pets' rights, establishing the Jason Heigl Foundation for animal welfare with her mother Nancy in 2008.

Katherine Heigl is hitting back at criticism over her recent attendance of a charity event held at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's exclusive Palm Beach club.

The Grey's Anatomy star was one of hundreds in attendance on Sunday at the 2026 edition of Wine, Women & Shoes, an annual fundraiser benefitting Florida's Big Dog Ranch Rescue, the nation's largest no-kill dog shelter. The event was held this year at the sprawling, 17-acre estate that serves as Trump's primary residence, as well as plays host to a wide variety of weddings, galas, and other special events.

Heigl has become an elusive star since the height of her fame in the late 2000s and early 2010s, and the rare red carpet appearance March 8 attracted a good deal of attention. Much of that attention has been critical due to the association with the sitting president, whose approval rating has been plummeting amid the ongoing war against Iran.

Never one to shy away from controversy, Heigl finally addressed her decision to the attend the event, which she contended existed in an entirely separate sphere from politics.

"Animals don't vote. The only room they don't like is the euthanasia room at a shelter," the actress said in a statement shared with Page Six on Wednesday. "They are completely at the mercy of us, and they have no voice of their own."

"This event was about animal advocacy — something that has always been deeply personal to me... Anyone who knows me knows that protecting animals is one of my greatest passions," she continued.

Entertainment Weekly did not immediately hear back from representatives for Heigl.

Heigl's advocacy for the cause of animal welfare is long running and well documented.

The actress and her mother Nancy established the Jason Heigl Foundation for animal welfare and advocacy in 2008 in honor of their late brother and son, who died in a car accident. The Heigls have raised "more than $8 million" since the organization's inception in order to support animals in need, according to its website.

The three-day gala benefitting Big Dog Ranch Rescue raised $5.5 million in pursuit of its goal to open facilities in Alabama, Texas, California, and North Carolina, according to The Palm Beach Post.

The event was co-chaired by Lara Trump, the president's daughter-in-law, and was attended by other figures in his extended circle, like Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, whom the president appointed United States Attorney for the District of Columbia back in August.

Matthew Fox explained why he took a reprieve from acting following the massive success of Lost.

"I felt like it was time to engage really intensely with my family," the Madison star, 59, said in an interview with Variety published on Monday, March 9. "I had missed some of their childhood because I was on set all the time with Lost and doing films and promoting everything."

Before becoming a household name after the 2004 premiere of Lost, Fox married wife Margherita Ronchi. The couple went on to welcome sons Kyle, now 28, and Byron, now 25.

Fox earned numerous Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his portrayal of Jack Shepard on the hit ABC series, which aired for six seasons before ultimately coming to an end in 2010.

Why Matthew Fox Won't Return for Season 2 of Taylor Sheridan's 'The Madison': 'Contained Experience'

Following his time on the drama, Fox went on to star in multiple movies, including Alex Cross, Emperor and Bone Tomahawk. In 2014, Fox decided to take a step back from the spotlight to focus on his family.

"It was the right moment for me to step back and take a moment and engage with the people that I love and care about the most in the world," he continued.

After making up for lost time, Fox admitted that he had a desire to return to acting.

"I kind of missed storytelling," he shared of his reasoning to return to Hollywood.

When producer Taylor Sheridan approached Fox with an opportunity to join The Madison, a spinoff of his hit show Yellowstone, the actor was instantly sold.

"I was like, 'Yeah, I'm in," Fox said on Monday, adding that he has now found a way to "balance" his home life and work obligations.

This isn't the first time Fox has come out of retirement for the right project. Fox ended his acting hiatus in 2021 to star in the apologetic thriller series Last Light.

"I kind of had a bucket list in my mind of things that I wanted to accomplish in the business, and after I did Bone Tomahawk in 2014 that had kind of completed the bucket list," Fox said at a press conference at the 2022 Monte-Carlo Television Festival. "I wanted to do a Western. It's a very odd Western, but it's a Western. And so that sort of completed the bucket list."

Fox added that in addition to being there for his family during his break, he also worked "on other creative elements" like "music and writing" that were "really personal" to him.

"I kind of got to a point where I thought that maybe the bucket list included executive producing," he reflected. "I'd never done that before. The opportunity to be involved in Last Light came along, and so I wanted to give it a shot. And it felt like the right time."

Jack Osbourne has paid touching tribute to his late father Ozzy following the birth of his fifth child.

On March 11, Jack - who recently revealed one of the last things his dad said to him - announced that his wife Aree Gearhart had given birth to their little girl and they decided to name her Ozzy after the Black Sabbath legend.

Posting a short black and white video their adorable newborn, Jack captioned it, "Introducing Ozzy Matilda Osbourne." The tot appeared to be sleeping on a floral print blanket with a stuffed animal in the form of a bat, which is another nod to Jack's late father, who died in July 2025 after a prolonged battle with multiple sclerosis.

It also revealed that baby Ozzy was born on March 5 at 8.49am and weighed 7lbs and 12 oz.

Following the announcement, several fans commented on the news of the birth, with many expressing joy over the little girl's name.

"My heart is melting. love to you and all the family. CONGRATULATIONS," one person wrote, while another said, "The most perfect name she could have ever received!! Congratulations to you all...I am sure her birth is what everyone's heart needed!!!"

"oh my goodness congratulations I love her name I'm sure Ozzy is smiling," a third added," while a fourth shared, "The sweetest name. her Papa's gotta be so tickled watching over."

"Your dad sent her earth-side for you and your family. I just know she was kissed and cuddled, by your dad before she made it here. Congratulations!" another fan wrote, while an additional added, "Yay, we have another Ozzy Osbourne! The world is right again."

Just a few months before his daughter's birth, Jack, 40, announced that he and his wie were growing their family, admitting at the time that it was helping him as he coped with the loss of his father.

"It's been partly a healthy distraction, partly healing—probably in that kind of 'full cycle' category, in a weird way," he told The Sun on Sunday in December. "It's very much taken energy out of the grieving side of things and parked in a bit more hopefulness."

Jack also confirmed he was able to tell his father about his wife's pregnancy before his death.

"We're super-excited. It was sort of planned, I should say," Jack continued. "It was maybe a little earlier than expected."

He added, "But it's definitely something that we were wanting to pursue and somehow it happened, miraculously."

This is the fifth child for Jack. He and Aree also share a daughter, Maple, three.

He also shares three children with his ex-wife, Lisa Stelly–Pearl, 13; Andy, 10; and Minnie, seven.

Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was desperate. Almost a decade and a half after her highly public divorce from the former prince in 1996, Ferguson – better known to many as "Fergie" – owed tens of thousands of pounds in rent, was feeling alone, and in search of a new career.

On all of these tribulations, Ferguson sought help and advice from her friend: Jeffrey Epstein.

CNN's examination of dozens of files in the Justice Department's "Epstein library" found that Ferguson continually showered Epstein with praise, including after his 2008 conviction in Florida for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

Messages show that Ferguson affectionately referred to Epstein as her "spectacular and special friend," "the brother I have always wished for," and told him "I am so proud of you" while he was serving jail time. More than once, Ferguson quipped that Epstein should marry her.

The former duchess, now 66, sought to lean on Epstein for financial help, repeatedly inquiring whether she could borrow money from the financier and asking him to employ her as his "house assistant." CNN's review also found that even after Ferguson criticized Epstein in an interview by tying him to pedophilia, in private, she was remorseful and apologetic to Epstein for those public comments.

Ferguson is one of many public figures whose close ties to the late convicted child sex offender have newly come to light through the millions of Epstein-related files released by the Justice Department.

Her ex-husband, the former Prince Andrew, has been publicly disgraced for his own association with Epstein: He was thrown out of the monarchy; made to relinquish his titles; moved out of his longtime home in the Crown's Windsor Estate; and in February, arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Six companies linked to Ferguson are shutting down in the aftermath of the release of the Epstein files, CNN previously reported.

Ferguson has not been accused of crimes related to Epstein, and the appearance of one's name in the Epstein files does not suggest wrongdoing. CNN has reached out to a representative for Ferguson for comment.

Ferguson to Epstein while he was in jail: 'I am so proud of you'

Epstein still had months left of his 18-month jail sentence in early April of 2009 when he received an email from Ferguson. She wrote that she was landing in Palm Beach in a few hours and she wanted to know whether she could see Epstein during her layover for a cup of tea.

Epstein, who was given work-release privileges that allowed him to leave jail for up to 12 hours a day, six days a week, responded: "yes." (It is not clear whether the two ultimately saw each other that day.)

Two days later, Epstein wrote an email to Ferguson that began with the words: "you look great." In the message, Epstein laid out his vision for a company that Ferguson could run called "Mothers Army," an initiative aimed at helping mothers in need that would be funded by corporate sponsors.

Ferguson sounded delighted.

"My dear spectacular and special friend Jeffrey," she wrote back. "You are a legend, and I am so proud of you." She continued on to write that she had "read and devoured" Epstein's email, and that she planned to get back to him with a "business plan."

"Thanks for being such a great friend," she added, before signing the email with "Lots of love" and "Xxxx."

Within a week of Epstein's release from jail in July of that year, Ferguson was eager to see him in person. Emails exchanged at the end of that month show that Ferguson made plans to see Epstein. "It will be myself, Beatrice and Eugenie," she said. "Are we having lunch?" (Her daughters were 20 and 19 at the time; it is not clear whether that meeting ever materialized.)

Ferguson continued corresponding with Epstein about the idea of Mothers Army, including seeking his help on trademarking the term and asking for advice to ensure she doesn't "F… Up the business and commercial arm." (Mothers Army was officially incorporated in October 2011 and dissolved in December 2016, with Ferguson listed as a director, public records show.)

Emails indicate that Epstein appeared to use Ferguson's name to offer friends access to royal institutions, including Buckingham Palace Apartments. Epstein wrote to a couple in 2009: "fergie said she could organize tea in the buckingham palace apts.. or windsor castle." (It is not clear whether that visit materialized.)

'I urgently need 20,000 pounds for rent'

In the fall of 2009, markets were reeling from the financial crash and media was buzzing about one former member of the Royal family. "Duchess of Debt?" was the start of a headline of an ABC News story that alleged that Ferguson was in deep financial trouble.

An associate shared the story with Epstein, who had been released from prison a few months earlier.

He promptly fired off an email to Ferguson.

"you have a rat…" Epstein wrote. "it could be one of the disgruntled investors.. or others that are owed money."

Ferguson wrote back: "I urgently need 20,000 pounds for rent today. The landlord has threatened to go to the newspapers if I don't pay. Any brainwaves?" (It is not clear whether Epstein responded to that message or assisted Ferguson on the rent payment.)

In January 2010, Ferguson asked Epstein for financial help. "Is there any chance I could borrow 50 or 100,000 US dollars to help get through the small bills that are pushing me over," she wanted to know.

Epstein responded that he couldn't: "i cannot do anything until July at earliest, dictated by current restrictions," he said. (While Epstein did not elaborate, he was serving out a year of house arrest at the time.)

By May of 2010, Ferguson was under fire for a video in which she appeared to accept money in exchange for access to her ex-husband. When the video emerged, Ferguson issued a statement apologizing for the incident and acknowledging, "My financial situation is under stress."

In addition to asking to borrow money, Ferguson more than once suggested around this time that Epstein hire her to be his "House Assistant." "I am the most capable and desperately need the money," she wrote in one email. "Please Jeffrey think about it."

Two months later, when Epstein wrote to Ferguson that he hadn't heard from her, she responded on the same day: "Have you died on me ? Don't.. Please you are my pillar." Ferguson lamented to Epstein the following day that she was "now 1000 percent being hung out to dry" by the British press.

She once again floated the idea of Epstein hiring her, writing in September: "When are you going to employ me." Epstein responded that they could discuss the matter in person when he traveled to London in several weeks. "i have never let you down," he wrote to her in a subsequent message. (It is not clear whether Epstein ultimately traveled to England.)

After criticizing Epstein in public, Ferguson privately apologized

In March 2011, under immense pressure about her known ties to Epstein, Ferguson said in an interview with the Evening Standard: "I abhor pedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf."

Having acknowledged that she had accepted around $24,000 from Epstein to help pay an employee, she also said in the interview: "Whenever I can I will repay the money and will have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again."

But not only did Ferguson fail to cut ties with Epstein after that display of public contrition, she was deeply apologetic to her friend and noted she hadn't specifically called him "the P. Word." (Epstein, meanwhile, set off on a campaign to convince some of his associates to pressure Ferguson to "withdraw" those comments, the files show.)

"I know you also feel hellaciously let down by me, from what you were either told or read, and I must humbly apologise to you and your heart for that," Ferguson wrote to Epstein in April 2011. "You have always been a steadfast, generous and supreme friend to me and my family."

The month after that in May, she told Epstein that she wanted his advice ahead of an interview with Oprah Winfrey on how she should address any questions about Epstein. "i just want to make sure you are aware of this and seek your advice on how you would like me to answer," she said.

By July of that year, the two appeared to have mended any hard feelings. Epstein wrote to Ferguson: "I knew you were always on my team. that was right"

Ferguson wrote back: "I am on yours and you on mine. With great love and strength."

- Timothée Chalamet sparked controversy by saying "no one cares" about ballet or opera at a February town hall with Matthew McConaughey.

- The comments resurfaced in March and drew backlash from fellow artists like Doja Cat.

- Chalamet comes from a dance family: his grandmother, mother, and sister all danced with the New York City Ballet.

Timothée Chalamet is in awards season overdrive for A24's *Marty Supreme*, which earned him Oscar nods for Best Actor and, as a producer, Best Picture. He's spent months promoting the ping-pong film in over-the-top fashion: pitching ridiculous ideas in a staged Zoom, standing atop the Las Vegas Sphere, wearing bright orange branded jumpsuits, and even hosting a town hall with his *Interstellar *costar Matthew McConaughey.

That last stunt, filmed at the University of Texas at Austin, recently went viral due to Chalamet's comments about ballet and opera — and the internet is not happy with him.

So, what exactly did he say? And how might it impact his Oscar chances? Read on as we break down the controversy.

What did Timothée Chalamet say about ballet and opera?

During his *Variety *and CNN town hall with McConaughey, Chalamet weighed in on the obstacles movie theaters face in modern times.

"I admire people, and I've done it myself, who go on a talk show and go, 'Hey, we gotta keep movie theaters alive. You know, we gotta keep this genre alive,'" he explained. "And another part of me feels like, if people want to see it, like *Barbie*, like *Oppenheimer*, they're going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it."

Then came his comments about ballet and opera. "And I don't want to be working in ballet or opera, or you know, things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive,' even though it's like, no one cares about this anymore," he said, earning laughs from McConaughey and the audience.

Chalamet — whose grandmother, mother, and sister all danced with the New York City Ballet — seemed to realize how his words might land. "All respect to the ballet and opera people out there," he added, joking, "I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason."

How have people responded to Chalamet's comments about ballet and opera?

Many ballet dancers and opera singers fired back at Chalamet. The Metropolitan Opera shared an Instagram video celebrating its crew with the caption, "This one's for you, @tchalamet… 👀."

London's Royal Ballet and Opera posted a similar clip noting, "Every night at the Royal Opera House, thousands of people gather for ballet and opera. … If you'd like to reconsider, @tchalamet, our doors are open." The Seattle Opera went a different route, offering 14% off select *Carmen *seats with the code "TIMOTHEE" and quipping in the caption, "Timmy, you're welcome to use it too."

On the March 9 broadcast of *The View*, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and guest cohost Sheryl Underwood all discussed Chalamet's comments. Hostin called them "vapid" and "shallow," while Goldberg, who pointed out his family ties to ballet, said he should know better.

"Be careful, boy … Don't apologize when you've insulted. It doesn't sound right," the EGOT winner warned. "You can't say, 'Oh, this is dumb, no disrespect.' That's absolute disrespect."

Grammy-winning artist Doja Cat also chimed in. In a March 8 TikTok video that's since been deleted, she slammed Chalamet, saying, "Opera is 400 years old. Ballet is 500 years old. Somebody named Tim-oh-tay Cha-lam-et had the nerve to say — on camera — that nobody cares about it."

The "Say So" singer went on to praise the dedication of the performers, saying, "Dancers show up at 8am, 6am. They show up and they break and they bleed, every single day. Just because they have respect for it."

"They love what they do. It doesn't matter if the industry is having a tough time at any time, which a lot of industries have a tough time… Doesn't mean people don't care about it. People care," she continued. "The dancers care, the singers care, the audience cares. There's still an audience. People give a f---. You show up in a nice outfit. You sit the f--- down and shut the f--- up. That's the usual etiquette around those things. Maybe learn something from that."

** has reached out to representatives for Chalamet for comment.

Will Chalamet's recent comments hurt his chances at the Oscars?

Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser in 'Marty Supreme'

Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser in 'Marty Supreme'.

Probably not. The town hall initially took place on Feb. 21, and while Oscar voting closed on March 5, his controversial comments about ballet and opera didn't gain much traction online until the following weekend. As such, Chalamet likely avoided any immediate fallout for the incident.

He's been considered a Best Actor frontrunner for much of this awards season, but his momentum has seemingly slowed. Though Chalamet took home trophies at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, he missed some key victories that serve as a barometer for Oscars glory, namely at the Actor Awards, where Michael B. Jordan won for his dual role in *Sinners*. (The Actor Awards voting block notably shares ample crossover with Academy members.) Many outlets' Academy Award predictions, including EW's, now have Jordan in the lead.

Of course, Chalamet still has a shot at the Oscar, though some of his past comments could come back to haunt him.

What past comments could impact Chalamet's Oscar chances?

Chalamet isn't shy about dreaming big. During his acceptance speech at the 2025 Actor Awards, he said he's "in the pursuit of greatness" and wants to be "one of the greats," citing Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, Viola Davis, Michael Jordan, and Michael Phelps as inspiration.

That bold energy has carried over into his unconventional, flashy *Marty Supreme *press tour, which may have rubbed some legacy Academy members the wrong way.

In December 2025, Chalamet collaborated with anonymous rapper EsDeeKid on the track "4 Raws Remix," name-dropping *Marty Supreme *and even referencing his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner. But the line that really stands out now? "My life is an opera."

That same month, he openly claimed he's delivered "top-of-the-line performances" over the years, but *Marty Supreme *is his best work yet. "This is really some top-level s---," he said.

Despite some comments raising eyebrows, Chalamet told IndieWire it fits the *Marty Supreme *vibe. "This is in the spirit of Marty," Chalamet said when asked about the press tour. "It's a movie about the pursuit of a dream. I'm leaving it on the field. Whether it's the merch or the Zoom or the media appearances, I'm trying to get this out in the biggest way possible. In the spirit of Marty Mauser."

Even beyond the press tour, Chalamet has been open about his career choices. In a November 2025 interview with *Vogue*, Chalamet was blunt when asked if he'd ever go back to TV: "No."

The answer quickly divided fans, with some pointing back to his 2024 appearance on *This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von*.

On the podcast, Chalamet talked about his intense approach to acting and how it stacks up against TV work. "This is a little misconception about actors and acting: You can have a cushy job on a TV show — if you don't give a f--- about your work, it can be a great lifestyle," he said. "You're making, like, high-six-figures, maybe low-seven-figures. And you're just showing up."

By contrast, he said filmmaking is a grind. "If you give a f--- about what you're doing, these are long ass days. These are 14-hour days, six days a week, sometimes, three months. Look, I know people got it way harder, but I want to feel that grit."

He went on to call himself the "hardest working man," and added, given the unique lifestyle of acting, "Why do this if you're not gonna go as hard as possible?"

As expected, fans were split. Some felt Chalamet was shading TV actors, suggesting that they don't really care about their work. Considering so many Oscar winners — Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, and even McConaughey — have done incredible TV work, that kind of attitude could have definitely turned some voters off.

Meanwhile, some fans defended Chalamet, saying he was just pointing out how demanding it is when you truly commit to a role.**

The chaos queen returns for season 3 of *XO, Kitty*.

Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) is heading back to the Korean Independent School of Seoul, a.k.a. KISS, for her senior year, ready to squeeze every bit of fun out of it with her friends… and maybe sort things out with Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee).

Season 2 ended with Kitty gearing up to confess her feelings, but Min Ho decided to put his love life on hold to hit the road with his dad and K-pop hitmaker brother. Never one to take no for an answer, Kitty asks to join them, and Min Ho agrees.

They may not be an official couple, but that could change fast. Here's everything fans need to know about *XO, Kitty *season 3, including which familiar faces are back at KISS.

What is XO, Kitty season 3 about?

(L to R) Gia Kim as Yuri Han, Minyeong Choi as Dae Heon Kim, Joshua Hyunho Lee as Jin, Jocelyn Shelfo as Madison, Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey, Sunny Oh as Mihee, Anthony Keyvan as Quincy 'Q' Shabazian, and Sang Heon Lee as Min Ho Moon in 'XO, Kitty' season 3

Senior year is officially here for Kitty, and she has it all perfectly planned.

"She's going to make meaningful memories with her friends, grow closer to her relatives in Korea, and make big decisions about her future. And she's going to define her relationship with Min Ho. For real this time," the synopsis teases. "But when surprise revelations throw her plans, and relationships, off course, Kitty will have to learn to embrace the unexpected."

Is there an XO, Kitty season 3 trailer?

The wait is over: the official trailer for *XO, Kitty *season 3 finally dropped on Monday, March 9, and it comes with a surprise that *To All the Boys* fans are definitely going to love.

"I am so excited for senior year," Kitty says at the start of the trailer, as she and her friends kick off the beginning of their final year at KISS. She's clearly ready to make the most of it, but there's still a lot she wants to accomplish before graduation.

Kitty has already made her "Senior Sunset List," and it's packed with some pretty exciting goals. Among them are celebrating Chuseok with her Korean family, visiting the Lotte World theme park with her friends, figuring out her college plans, and, of course, finally defining her relationship with Min Ho.

That last one seems the most challenging. Kitty admits she always thought Min Ho might want someone who fits better into his celebrity lifestyle, and at one point, his dad bluntly tells her she's trying to step into a world she doesn't fully understand.

Meanwhile, Min Ho isn't loving the complicated nature of their relationship either. At one point, he tells Kitty he's over the mixed signals, and she ends up confessing she might've gotten carried away thinking the two of them could actually become something.

Kitty ends up calling her sister, Lara Jean (Lana Condor), in tears, prompting LJ to hop on the next flight to Seoul to surprise her. Kitty is stunned when she sees LJ, but they share a hug before Kitty fills her in on everything that's been going on. She admits she really likes Min Ho, and LJ gives some classic big sister wisdom: "Whatever happens with Min Ho, we can't just stop living our lives. We have to follow our hearts and trust that it will lead us to our next great adventure."

The trailer then flashes through a bunch of fun senior year moments: Kitty riding a rollercoaster with her friends, dancing at parties, and even being surprised with an 18th birthday bash.

Now, despite all the ups and downs between Min Ho and Kitty, there's still hope. At a transit station, Min Ho spots Kitty on a train, bags in tow. He calls out for her, and even with her headphones on, she turns and sees him. The trailer cuts off there, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens next between them.

Who's in the XO, Kitty season 3 cast?

All your favorites are back at KISS in *XO, Kitty *season 3. Cathcart returns as Kitty, joined by Heon Lee as Min Ho, Minyeong Choi as Dae, Gia Kim as Yuri, and Anthony Keyvan as Q.

Also back in the mix are Philippe Lee as Min Ho's dad Mr. Moon, Regan Aliyah as Juliana, Sasha Bhasin as Praveena, Hojo Shin as Jiwon, Peter Thurnwald as Alex, Joshua Lee as Jin, Michael K. Lee as Professor Lee, Jocelyn Shelfo as Madison, Han Bi Ryu as Eunice, and Sunny Oh as Mihee.

Viewers will also see some new faces: Sule Thelwell (*Saint X*) joins as Marius, Soy Kim steps in as Yisoo, and Christine Hwang (*The Beast in Me*) rounds out the newcomers as Gigi.

There's also a major surprise: Lana Condor is back as Lara Jean. "It's such a joy to be able to come back and see Anna," Condor told Netflix's Tudum of her return to the *To All the Boys *franchise. "I think she did an amazing job creating the *XO, Kitty* world. It's such a dream to be able to work with her again. I feel really excited and happy and honored I get to be back."

Is there a release date for XO, Kitty season 3?

- *War Machine *premiered on Netflix on March 6.

- It stars Alan Ritchson as an U.S. Army Ranger hopeful whose final test pits him against an otherworldly threat.

- The ending leaves the door open for a potential sequel.

**Warning: This article contains spoilers for *War Machine*.**

Part 1980s action flick, part sci-fi thriller, *War Machine *delivers the kind of pulse-pounding spectacle we rarely see from straight-to-streaming films.

Co-written and directed by Patrick Hughes, the film stars Alan Ritchson (*Reacher*) as a staff sergeant known only as 81 who endures an insanely grueling bootcamp to become a U.S. Army Ranger. It's an undertaking in honor of his brother (Jai Courtney), who died in his arms on the battlefield.

While his fellow soldiers start bonding and embracing the Ranger dream, 81 keeps to himself and stays focused on making it to the finish line. But the final test spirals out of control, forcing the group to battle a virtually unstoppable enemy.

*War Machine *is currently dominating the Netflix charts, and its open-ended finale hints that the story might not be over just yet. So, will there be a sequel? Here's everything we know so far.

What is *War Machine *about?

(L to R) Jack Patten as 109, James Beaufort as 23, Alan Ritchson as 81, Alex King as 44, and Blake Richardson as 15 in 'War Machine'

Two years after his brother's death, Ritchson's character enlists to join the Rangers and is assigned candidate number 81. Throughout the brutal section program, he quickly proves his exceptional skill and discipline, but he refuses to connect with his fellow recruits. And, despite his prior experience as an Army leader, 81 chooses to forgo any leadership roles.

After 81 nearly drowns during an underwater drill, the regiment leaders (played by Dennis Quaid and Esai Morales) express concern that his PTSD from losing his brother might put him at risk or affect the team. They suggest he leave the program, but he refuses, determined to make it to the end.

As the recruits push through the toughest weeks of training, the narrative occasionally cuts to TV news reports of an asteroid entering Earth's atmosphere, leaving NASA utterly perplexed. That enigmatic celestial event later plays a pivotal role in the recruits final trial.

For their last mission, the team must take out a captured classified aircraft and extract a pilot being held prisoner. But things go off the rails when they encounter a towering machine hellbent on annihilating them all.**

What happens at the end of War Machine?

In the epic final battle, 81 rams the machine with a bulldozer, trapping it against a rock wall. He then triggers a conveyor belt overhead to dump an avalanche of rocks onto it. With its ventilator now blocked, the machine explodes.

81 then hauls 7 (Stephan James) back to camp, only to discover that the "asteroid" has split into numerous pods. Now, the entire planet faces a full-blown invasion by machines akin to the one 81 just destroyed — and even more are on the way.

As the siege escalates, militaries around the world have mobilized under "Operation Global Shield." 81 shares crucial tactics for taking down the machines, earns his Ranger tab, and immediately jumps back into the fight.

He soon boards a helicopter to join the counterattack, and as it lifts off, a sergeant on board scans the roster of Rangers. He notices 81, who has fallen asleep after his exhausting battle.

Despite 81's heroics, the threat is far from over. Alien pods continue to ravage Earth, signaling that the machine invasion is only getting started. All the while, 81's true identity remains a mystery — no one knows his name, and the film ends without revealing it.

Will there be a *War Machine *sequel?

Nothing is official yet, but both Hughes and Ritchson have expressed interest in returning for a *War Machine *sequel. Hughes told ScreenRant that he initially wrote *War Machine *as a "fully formed standalone story," but if he ever got the chance to continue it, he knows "exactly where it's going."

"It's impossible not to, as a writer, to think about," Hughes added. "I fell in love with the character of 81, and the universe of sort of everything he's going through. So look, if that call comes in, then yes, I'm ready to pull the trigger."

Ritchson echoed Hughes' excitement, claiming there are already "tons" of ideas for 81. "*War Machines* is going to be sick. The whole thing, we got a whole thing," he said.

In a separate interview with Decider, Ritchson joked that they're "ready to shoot" the sequel right now. Meanwhile, Hughes shared his vision: "For me, I wanted to tell a film that started with the micro, and ended with the macro," he said. "And I thought that was a really unique take on the genre that we were working in. Let's see what happens."

Ritchson even threw in a humorous pitch for a *War Machine *sequel, saying, "81 goes to Paris, and he stays at Le Bristol, and he gets that really lovely chicken truffle soup that they have."
