Troy coach Scott Cross has emerged as the leading candidate in Georgia Tech's basketball coaching search, multiple people with direct knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports on Friday, March 20.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about Cross' candidacy. It wasn't immediately clear whether Cross, who led Troy to its second straight Men's NCAA Tournament berth this season, has been offered the job.

The Georgia Tech job came open when athletic director Ryan Alpert fired Damon Stoudamire on March 8 after the Yellow Jackets closed their season on a 12-game losing streak and failed to make the 15-team ACC Tournament. Stoudamire, an ex-Arizona star, lasted three seasons with the Yellow Jackets and posted a 42-55 record.

Cross and Furman coach Bob Richey were among the candidates thoroughly vetted by Alpert during Georgia Tech's search, with Cross emerging as the focus, multiple sources told USA TODAY Sports.

Richey coached Furman to its eighth March Madness berth this season and second since 1980. The 15th-seeded Paladins (22-12) will face No. 2 UConn (29-5) in the first round on Friday.

Why Georgia Tech is targeting Scott Cross

Georgia Tech is trying to revive a program that has lost 93 games the past five seasons and has just one NCAA Tournament berth since 2010.

In narrowing the focus on Cross, Georgia Tech is targeting a coach coming off a successful stint after spending more than two decades at the Division I level.

Cross, who has 19 years' experience as an NCAA head coach, led Troy to a Sun Belt Conference championship and 22-12 record this season, ending with Thursday's 76-47 loss to Nebraska in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Cross' last five Troy teams won at least 20 games. His past two reached the NCAA Tournament and another reached the now-defunct College Basketball Invitational.

Before arriving at Troy, Cross guided Texas-Arlington to postseason appearances in the NIT and College Invitational Tournament (CIT) quarterfinals.

NEW YORK (AP) — WNBA players are having information sessions over the next day or two to learn more about the new collective bargaining agreement that was agreed to in principle early Wednesday morning.

Through zoom calls and one-on-one conversations, the players are hearing about some of the details of the transformational new deal that will last for the next seven years with an opt-out after six, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. The person spoke to The on Thursday on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the discussions.

Lawyers on both sides are finalizing the term sheet, which should be done in the next day or so. It will then get put to a vote of the players with a majority needed to ratify the CBA. The league's Board of Governors will then need to approve the deal before it becomes official.

The deal came after the two sides spent the past eight days in intense in-person negotiations that lasted for more than 100 hours. They came to the agreement about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday after spending more than 10 hours of discussions on Tuesday.

"This is historical for women's sports. I told Cathy it's not just for the players that are entering the league or the players that aren't already here," union president Nneka Ogwumike said of her conversations with WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. "We're just really grateful to be able to come to a deal. We're proud of ourselves."

Here are a few key points from the CBA.

Salary cap

The salary cap for the 2026 season is expected to be $7 million with average salaries more than $585,000, according to the person. Top players can make over $1 million for the first time in the league's history with a supermax salary close to $1.4 million. The cap could grow up to $11 million in 2031 if revenue projections go well. The salary cap can change a maximum of 10% in either direction each year with the exception of after the first season when it could up or down 13%.

The minimum salary for this year would be around $300,000 as the league enters its 30th season. This would increase salaries fourfold from last season. The average salary, which was about $125,000 last year, should be around $584,000 before revenue sharing in 2026.

"For the first time, player salaries are tied to a truly meaningful share of league revenue, driving exponential growth in the salary cap, increasing average compensation beyond half a million dollars and raising the standard across facilities, staffing and support," Ogwumike said after the verbal agreement Wednesday morning.

The average revenue share over the length of the deal will be around 20%, according to the person. It's still unclear whether its the gross revenue the players asked for or the net revenue the league pushed for.

Housing

Teams will continue to pay for housing for the first three years of the deal according to the person. In 2029 and 2030, teams will pay for housing for players earning $500,000 or less. After that, teams will only pay for the housing of developmental players.

Rookies contracts

Rookie contracts will remain for four years with a bump in pay for all players still on rookie contracts. Players who earn All-WNBA honors can get the maximum salary in the fourth year of their contract if they stay with their team. So far Caitlin Clark would be eligible for that in 2027, Paige Bueckers in 2028 and Aliyah Boston this season.

Big upsets are arguably one of the most exciting parts of March Madness, despite the pain they might bring your already-busted bracket. As the NCAA tournament began in earnest on Thursday, the first game of the day, between No. 9 TCU and No. 8 Ohio State, did not disappoint. Shortly after, another Big Ten squad went down as No. 12 High Point stunned No. 5 Wisconsin. By Thursday night, several more upsets had been finalized.

We'll break down all the major losses of the men's tournament below:

No. 9 Saint Louis 102, No. 8 Georgia 77: The Bulldogs never stood a chance here.

Saint Louis, led by star center Robbie Avila, rolled to a blowout win over Georgia on Thursday night. The Billikens led the entire way, and went on an extended 23-0 run through halftime that broke the game wide open. By the time Georgia finally scored again, the Billiken's lead had exploded up to 35 points.

Avila — who has earned some incredibly creative nicknames, including Cream Abdul-Jabbar and Larry Nerd — had 12 points and five rebounds. Dion Brown led the way with 18 points after he went 9-of-10 from the field. The Billikens, who probably should have earned a higher seed than what they got, will now take on No. 1 Michigan on Saturday.

No. 10 Texas A&M 63, No. 7 Saint Mary's 50: The Aggies led the entire way in this one and cruised to a double-digit win without any issue. After opening the contest on a long 9-0 run that kept the Gaels scoreless for the first four minutes, they took an 11-point lead into the break at halftime.

While the second half was much closer, the Gaels simply couldn't narrow that gap. Saint Mary's failed to score in the final 2:30 of the contest as the Aggies simply rode out the 13-point win into the next round.

No. 11 Texas 79, No. 6 BYU 71: Texas was in control of this one just about the entire way.

Texas, after a bit of a back-and-forth early on, surged ahead of AJ Dybantsa and BYU in the second half and held on to grab the eight-point win. That sent the Longhorns, who had to beat NC State in the play-in on Tuesday, into the second round.

Dybantsa had 18 points in the first half alone to keep BYU in it, and Texas coach Sean Miller was very blunt when asked how he could stop them at the break.

"I don't think we can," he said plainly.

The Cougars, after falling down by 17 points in the second half, got back within four points with just under a minute left. But that was as close as they got. The Longhorns held them scoreless the rest of the way to grab the win.

Dybantsa ended up finishing with 35 points and 10 rebounds. He's now the first freshman with at least 30 points in his NCAA tournament debut since Stephen Curry did so with Davidson back in 2007.

No. 11 VCU 82, No. 6 North Carolina 78: Well, North Carolina completely fell apart.

The Tar Heels, who led by as many as 19 points in the second half, let the Rams climb all the way back to force overtime. Then, after both teams went cold in the extra period, it was Terrence Hill who drilled the eventual game-winner. Hill, with about 15 seconds left on the cock, pulled up from the top of the key and drained a step-back 3-pointer.

Though Henri Veesaar reached the free throw line at the other end and had the chance to tie the game again, he missed both of his shots from the stripe. That paved the way for the Rams to secure the upset win, which was the largest first-round comeback victory in NCAA tournament history.

No. 12 High Point 83, No. 5 Wisconsin 82: Not a bad time to make your first two-pointer of the year, Chase Johnston! And so a rough day for the Big Ten continues. High Point made its first NCAA tournament appearance last year, and this year heads to the round of 32 for the first time.

No. 9 TCU 66, No. 8 Ohio State 64: This result might've seemed fated at halftime, when the Horned Frogs held a 15-point lead, but the Buckeyes stormed back in the second half to make the first game of the day everything you'd want to kick off March Madness. TCU's Xavier Edmonds hit a shot at the rim with 4.3 seconds to go, and Ohio State wasn't able to get a good look before time expired.

While it may not have been a true upset, TCU was a 2.5-point underdog and will be moving on to the round of 32 for the first time since 2023.

Latto is going to a mom!

On Friday, March 20, the 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Alyssa Michelle Stephens, announced she's expecting her first baby by dropping the cover for her upcoming album Big Mama and the music video for her latest single, "Business & Personal."

On the cover for her fourth studio album, Latto could be seen cuddling a baby cheetah while showing off her bare baby bump in a sheer cropped black top with a cape. "BIG MAMA (the album) 5/29," she wrote in the caption. "'Business & Personal (Intro)' song & video out now. Thank you God 🥹."

She also shared a snippet of the music video for her new song "Business & Personal," with the musician once again showing off her bare bump in a white lace bra and shorts. In the video, Latto can be heard rapping, "Maybach that's the Benz of the day, car seat, got a kid on the way," as she winks and smiles at the camera while sitting on a rocking chair.

A hand, appearing to be that of her partner, fellow rapper 21 Savage, is then seen being placed on her bump. Latto confirmed she was dating 21 Savage in September 2025 after years of rumors. She also referred to the 33-year-old — who is already a dad to three children: sons Kamari and Ashaad and daughter Rhian — as her "husband."

Asked if she was tired of hearing rumors about her dating 21 Savage — real name Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph — the "Big Energy" rapper told TMZ, "No. My man, my man, my man."

Rumors about the pair first began in December 2020 after their first collaboration "Pull Up," according to Complex.

They then collaborated again on 2022's "Wheelie" from Latto's 777 album, with fans noticing a new tattoo behind Latto's ear in 2023 that appeared to read "Shéyaa," 21 Savage's real first name.

Latto also gave fans a closer look at her bump in an Instagram Live as she danced to her new song, according to Complex.

Teasing fans the night before, the rapper posted a video of just her legs walking in black heels to feed the cheetah cub a bottle of milk.

"I ain't go missing, I had to give y'all time to miss me," she said in a voice over. "Before you run the game, you got to take baby steps to go the distance. Home to the studio, studio back home."

She continued, "Listening to every beat, feeling every kick. Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of having my own. Big Mama but this time the stakes' way bigger."

Jamie Lee Curtis accused the Trump administration of trying to "erase" diversity from the United States.

The White House has since responded to the actress, labeling her "woke" and claiming that one cares about her political views.

Jamie, who has a trans daughter, has long been an advocate for diversity and LGBTQ+ rights.

After condemning ICE and Border Patrol agents in the wake of the fatalities of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, the Oscar winner weighed in on the topic of diversity and the inclusion of minorities.

"I'm happy more women are getting appreciation," Jamie said at the South by Southwest festival on Saturday (March 14) while discussing diversity in the film industry.

"More people of color are getting appreciation. More genders are being appreciated. Diversity, inclusivity, the words that Donald Trump is trying to erase from our language, which is an abomination. It's fantastic."

She also thanked the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for giving space to films like Sinners and for continuing to grow "like our Constitution should."

The actress said the Constitution "was designed to be amended. It was not designed to be a rigid, binary idea. It was designed to grow and flow as people grew and flowed.

"But we've become binary in our ideas and the interpretation of that binary is what has gotten us into another war. I mean, it's just awful."

The actress previously voiced her support for the protests in Minnesota against ICE

The White House quickly brushed off Jamie's remarks, dismissing her political views as irrelevant to the general public.

Without naming her directly, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told Fox News, "Nobody in their right mind cares what out-of-touch woke celebrities in Hollywood say or think."

The back-and-forth between the actress and the government comes after Jamie spoke out against the Trump administration last month, calling it "inhuman."

Image credits: Jerome Gilles/NurPhoto via Getty Images

During an event for the nonprofit Project Angel Food, she told Variety, "Every day I think I'm not going to be shocked anymore, and then I'm shocked.

"It is inhuman the way this administration is treating its citizens and its constituents and people in need. It's an abhorrence what they're doing."

She also accused Trump of using ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to distract from the Epstein files and his alleged ties to the disgraced financier.

Other celebrities, such as Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, and Kehlani, have also condemned the federal agency.

"We're only going to get sh*t done if we do it together and defy these motherf**kers," Jamie said, referring to the protests that erupted in Minnesota after an ICE agent fatally fired at Renee Good, a 37-year-old American woman.

The Trump administration maintains that the agent, Jonathan Ross, acted in self-defense after the woman tried to run him over with her vehicle on January 7.

Days later, on January 24, federal agents from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) fired at 37‑year‑old Alex Pretti, also in Minneapolis.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the agents fired in self-defense after Pretti, who they say had a weapon, resisted their attempts to disarm him.

Eyewitnesses and local officials have challenged that account, pointing out he had a phone in his hand, not a weapon.

"THESE WERE AMERICANS! SH*T BY OUR GOVERNMENT," Jamie wrote on social media. "Let the ICE STORM of RESISTANCE RING LOUDLY."

Jamie defended her transgender daughter, Ruby, amid what she called "very dangerous times" for the trans community

Image credits: Maya Dehlin Spach/Getty Images

The 67-year-old Halloween actress previously slammed conservatives who spread homophobic views in the "name of religion."

She made the comments in 2023 while speaking at the Out100 Celebration, an event honoring members of the LGBTQ+ community and advocates hosted by Out magazine. That year, she received the "Advocate of The Year" award.

"These are very dangerous times and I'm very happy to be in a room with people who are fighting the best fight they can fight," she said during her speech.

Image credits: Michael Siluk/UCG/Universal Images Group via Getty Images

Referring to her daughter, who came out as a trans woman in 2021, she added, "Especially for people who have felt hidden their entire lives, and who have had the remarkable courage to state their truths like my beautiful daughter, Ruby."

Jamie shares 29-year-old Ruby with her husband, comedy director Christopher Guest. The longtime couple also has a 39-year-old daughter named Annie.

"This is what you do when you're a parent: You suit up and you show up with your heart open and your arms outstretched and your aim, true. Your job is to tell the haters to back the f**k off.

"I pray that the homophobia and transphobia that is being championed in the name of religion by the right is exposed and silenced as wrong by the love of humanity that is the center of our gay and out trans community."

Before Virgin River, there was another popular "fish out of water" series featuring small-town drama and medicine.

Premiering on CBS in 1990, Northern Exposure centers on Dr. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow), a young Jewish physician from New York City who's required to practice medicine in rural Cicely, Ala., for four years as a condition of his student loans. As Joel adjusts to small-town life, he develops close relationships with the eccentric local residents and reluctantly grows to appreciate Cicely's quirks.

Over its six-season run, Northern Exposure took home seven Emmys, two Golden Globes, and two Peabody Awards. The show continues to maintain a passionate fanbase today, beloved for its unique storytelling style, Indigenous casting, and LGBTQ representation.

Read on to see what Morrow, Barry Corbin, Janine Turner, and the rest of the Northern Exposure cast has been up to since the series ended in 1995.

Rob Morrow (Joel Fleischman)

After starring alongside Johnny Depp in the film Private Resort (1985), Rob Morrow got his big break when he landed the lead role of the neurotic doc on Northern Exposure.

After departing midway through the show's final season to focus more on films, he landed the co-lead role in Robert Redford's Oscar-nominated true-scandal hit, Quiz Show (1994), as well as a supporting gig in Albert Brooks' Mother (1996).

Over the past couple of decades, Morrow has scooped up a string of small-screen roles. He headlined the heady crime procedural Numb3rs (2005–2010), alongside David Krumholtz, and played famed attorney Barry Scheck on The People vs. O.J. Simpson (2016). He was also a recurring figure on Billions (2016–2023).

In 2018, it was reported that a Northern Exposure reboot was in the works, with Morrow in talks to reprise his role. However, there's been little development since.

"We used to talk about Northern Exposure taking place in a benevolent universe, where all walks of life could coexist," the actor reflected on his rewatch podcast, Northern Disclosure, in 2025. "On Northern Disclosure, we aim to capture some of the same fun, decency, wit, and intelligence that made the show so beloved — then and now."

Morrow married actress Debbon Ayer in 1998. The couple has one daughter.

Barry Corbin (Maurice Minnifield)

Barry Corbin played the pompous Maurice, a multi-millionaire businessman, Korean War fighter pilot, and ex-astronaut. Talk about a stacked résumé!

The Texas native has a reputation for playing cowboys, sheriffs, and authority figures. Prior to Northern Exposure, he racked up supporting roles in WarGames (1983), Urban Cowboy (1980), Stir Crazy (1980), and Any Which Way You Can (1980).

Many fans will also recognize him for his standout scene in the Coen brothers' modern classic, No Country for Old Men (2007). He also recently popped up in a small role in Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon (2023).

The longtime TV veteran, whose career has taken him everywhere from M*A*S*H (1981) to Dallas (1979–1984), has been a regular on a handful of shows lately. The list includes One Tree Hill (2003–2009), The Ranch (2016–2020), and Anger Management (2012–2014), alongside Charlie Sheen. He also booked recurring roles on Better Call Saul (2020) and Tulsa King (2022-present).

Janine Turner (Maggie O'Connell)

Janine Turner spiced things up in Cicely as the spunky Maggie, a former bush pilot and Joel's landlord (and eventual love interest).

"She's a landlord. She's got courage. She has no pretenses," she told EW in 1991. "She is who she is and she's not afraid. Sounds like a man's role, doesn't it?"

A veteran of General Hospital and a decade's worth of guest spots at the time, Turner moved into a higher echelon with Northern Exposure, which she landed just after her small role in Steel Magnolias (1989).

She went on to play Sylvester Stallone's love interest in Cliffhanger (1993) and June Cleaver herself in the Leave it to Beaver (1997) film adaptation. Contemporary audiences may know her from her recurring arc on Friday Night Lights (2008–2009).

The Emmy-nominated actress has largely pivoted to writing and political commentary in recent decades.

Turner has one daughter with Jerry Jones Jr., son of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

John Cullum (Holling Vincoeur)

John Cullum in 'Northern Exposure'; Cullum at the 'American Son' opening in 2018Credit: CBS via Getty; Roy Rochlin/Getty

John Cullum portrayed Holling, the owner of Cicely's popular bar and restaurant, The Brick.

Arguably the most accomplished member of the cast, Cullum is a highly regarded stage actor in addition to his lengthy television and movie career. He won the Tony for Best Leading Actor in a Musical not once, but twice, for Broadway productions Shenandoah and On the Twentieth Century. In 2007, he was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.

Over the years, Cullum has also appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2003–2011), Mad Men (2007), 30 Rock (2012), and The Middle (2009–2018), among many others.

More recently, she had a recurring role on Netflix's coming-of-age series Penelope (2024) as the title character's mother.

Before he was competing for Carrie Bradshaw's affections, John Corbett planted roots in Cicely as an ex-convict and disc jockey.

Beyond Northern Exposure and Sex and the City, Corbett is widely known for My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) and its two sequels. Contemporary audiences may also recognize him from his fatherly role in Netflix's To All the Boys trilogy.

Elsewhere, he was the "other guy" in the Kate Beckinsale/John Cusack rom-com Serendipity (2001) and Kate Hudson's love interest in Raising Helen (2004) before securing a regular gig on Showtime's United States of Tara (2009–2011).

After a recurring stint on Parenthood (2011–2015), he reprised Aidan Shaw for the SATC sequel series And Just Like That… (2023–2025).

Darren E. Burrows (Ed Chigliak)

Darren E. Burrows played aloof yet kinda-genius Ed, a half-Native Alaskan orphan raised by the Tlingit tribe.

Prior to landing that signature role, the Kansan scored small roles in Brian De Palma's Casualties of War (1989) and John Waters' teen musical Cry-Baby (1990).

Following his time in small-town Alaska, Burrows appeared in the TV movie The Siege at Ruby Ridge (1996), alongside Randy Quaid, Laura Dern, and Kirsten Dunst, as well as Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). He later guest-starred on NYPD Blue (1998), The X-Files (1999), and CSI (2009).

In more recent years, the actor landed a role in the ensemble of acclaimed drama Love Is Strange (2014), alongside John Lithgow, Alfred Molina, and Marisa Tomei, and recently headlined the indie Magpie Funeral (2023).

Burrows married professional chef Melinda Delgado in 1993. The couple shares four children together.

Peg Phillips (Ruth-Anne Miller)

The late Peg Phillips brought some sense to Cicely as the level-headed general store owner, and proud film buff, Ruth-Anne. She was initially conceived as a peripheral recurring role, but was upped to series regular status after proving wildly popular with viewers.

Though she had a lifelong ambition for acting, she was a late bloomer in show business, entering the industry in her 60s. There were small parts for a few years, including in the acclaimed River Phoenix indie Dogfight (1991) and the Olsen twins' How the West Was Fun (1994). Then Northern Exposure not only made her a fan favorite, but an Emmy nominee.

"I almost didn't audition for the series because ... I don't go out on little cookie jar grandmother things," she said in a 1992 interview. "I don't have gray hair, I'm skinny and move too fast. I guess casting directors would see me more as a bag lady."

The Washington native later went on to guest star on Suddenly Susan (1996), 7th Heaven (1996–1999), and ER (2000).

Phillips, who was married twice, had four children and eight grandchildren. She died of pulmonary disease in 2002 at 84 years old.

Elaine Miles brought the no-nonsense receptionist Marilyn to life.

"It's crazy because when I first auditioned… I had no clue what it was," she said in a 2020 interview. "I never in my whole life thought I would become an actress. But with Northern Exposure, that first season, I was in awe the whole time."

Marilyn remains her signature role, but Miles has a few more calling cards as well. She appeared in the Native American indie classic Smoke Signals (1998) as well as The Business of Fancydancing (2002) and the HBO film Scattering Dad (1998).

The Northwest native scored a supporting role as a sheriff in the Alfre Woodard-led drama Juanita (2019), then found a huge new audience with a guest appearance on The Last of Us in the critically acclaimed episode "Kin."

Miles is a citizen of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. She has one son.
