When most people think about the peak romantic comedy formula, they hark back to the '80s and '90s, when genre classics got the mechanics just right. And then along came *The First Wives Club*, which took that lovey-dovey template and tossed it out the penthouse window.

Anyone can experience happily-ever-after… but what happens when your husband leaves you for a younger, slimmer, version of yourself?

Although it may not have received high accolades after its 1996 debut, audiences adored the trio of actresses who carried the movie. Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton navigating the rocky road of infidelity with grace and humor was an anti-rom-com cocktail that proved hard to resist.

Packed full of stars and vintage character actors, the film's cast has stood the test of time. Read on to find out where our favorite divorcées are now.

Bette Midler (Brenda Morelli-Cushman)

Bette Midler

Bette Midler played the sassy single mother Brenda, who's always got a biting one-liner in the chamber.

For most of her illustrious career, Midler has straddled the line between musician and actor. Already a recording star and Broadway veteran, she made a major jump to the screen with the musical drama *The Rose *(1979), earning two Golden Globes and an Oscar nomination.

The Hawaii native followed that up with a string of hits, including *Down and Out in Beverly Hills *(1986), *Ruthless People* (1986), *Big Business* (1988), *Beaches* (1988), and *For the Boys* (1991), the latter of which earned her another Oscar nod.

For children of the '90s, however, Midler's name immediately brings *Hocus Pocus* to mind. It's easy to see why resurrecting the Sanderson sisters for *Hocus Pocus 2* in 2022 would result in record-breaking streaming numbers for Disney+.

Midler and her husband, Martin von Haselberg, have been married since 1984. Their daughter, Sophie, is also an actress.

Goldie Hawn (Elise Eliot-Atchison)

Diane Keaton

Aging movie star Elise, with her collagen-filled lips and "unprofitable age," was brought to life by Goldie Hawn.

Her comedy bonafides, of course, need little explanation. From her star-making role on the sketch comedy show *Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In*, Hawn settled quickly into her comedic comfort zone. Before she knew it, she was an Oscar winner for *Cactus Flower *(1969). She then filled her resume with starring roles in *Butterflies Are Free *(1971), Steven Spielberg's *Sugarland Express *(1974), and *Shampoo *(1975).

On top of pairing up with Chevy Chase for *Foul Play *(1978), she earned another Oscar nomination for *Private Benjamin* (1980). More gems followed, including *Overboard* (1987) opposite her real-life partner Kurt Russell, *Death Becomes Her* (1992), and *Everyone Says I Love You *(1996).

On the heels of *The Banger Sisters* (2002), the actress took an extended break, finally returning 15 years later for *Snatched* (2017). She recently reunited with Russell to play Mrs. Claus to his Santa in the *Christmas Chronicles *movies.

The couple has been together since 1983 and shares one son, actor Wyatt Russell. She also has two children, actors Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, from a previous marriage.

Diane Keaton (Annie MacDuggan-Paradis)

Diane Keaton

Slightly neurotic and full of anxiety, Diane Keaton played the central character of Annie.

Keaton burst onto the scene with roles in *The Godfather *(1972) and *Play It Again, Sam *(1972). A frequent collaborator of Woody Allen, she won an Academy Award for *Annie Hall *(1977) and had starring turns in *Sleeper *(1973), *Love and Death *(1975), and *Interiors *(1978), among others.

In addition to the *Godfather *sequels, the actress headlined the likes of *Looking for Mr. Goodbar *(1977), *Reds *(1981), and *Baby Boom *(1987). She teamed up with Steve Martin for *Father of the Bride *(1991), re-teamed with Hawn for *Town & Country *(2001), and landed an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win for *Something's Gotta Give* (2003).

She continued to specialize in humane comedy for years afterward, from *The Family Stone *(2005) to *Morning Glory *(2010).

In late 2025, the beloved actress died at age 79. She was survived by her son, Duke, and daughter, Dexter.

"She was hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star," Midler said of her *First Wives *costar.

Hawn was equally effusive: "She just brought so much joy, so much life, so much exuberance. She was like lightning in a bottle. There wasn't anything that she couldn't do."

Sarah Jessica Parker (Shelly Stewart)

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker teetered her way into Brenda's life as her husband Morty's new mistress, Shelly.

Though we'll always know her as Manhattan's own Carrie Bradshaw, the Ohio native began in musical theater, which paved the way for featured roles in *Footloose* (1984) and *Girls Just Want To Have Fun *(1985*)*.

Her movie career hit greater heights in the '90s with *L.A. Story *(1991), *Honeymoon in Vegas *(1992), and of course *Hocus Pocus *alongside Midler. After a pair of Tim Burton cult favorites, *Ed Wood *(1994) and *Mars Attacks *(1996), Parker landed the role that has defined her ever since.

She won four Golden Globes and an Emmy for *Sex and the City *(1998–2004), took the franchise to the big screen twice, and returned once again for the sequel series, *And Just Like That* (2021–2025).

Parker has been married to actor Matthew Broderick since 1997. They share a son and twin daughters.

Victor Garber (Bill Atchison)

The First Wives Club cast: Where are they now? Victor Garber

Victor Garber makes you root against him as Elise's cheating film producer husband, Bill.

Based on his speaking voice alone, it's easy to believe Garber started his career in the theater. He's been nominated for four Tonys and even stepped back into the game in 2018, taking over the lead role of Horace Vandergelder in *Hello, Dolly!*

But many fans mainly recognize him as Sydney Bristow's father in *Alias* (2001–2006). Garber officiated the wedding of his TV daughter, Jennifer Garner, to Ben Affleck, and the two have remained close ever since.

The six-time Emmy nominee is also a frequent face on the big screen. He was the architect of the eponymous ship in *Titanic *(1997) and appeared in *Sleepless in Seattle* (1993), *Exotica *(1994), *Legally Blonde* (2001), *Sicario *(2015), and Best Picture winner *Argo *(2012).

The Ontario native recently finished up a run on the Canadian series *Family Law *(2021–2026).

Garber married his longtime partner, Rainer Andreesen, in 2015.

Elizabeth Berkley (Phoebe LaVell)

The First Wives Club cast Elizabeth Berkley

Elizabeth Berkley played memorably against-type as Phoebe, the ditzy actress obsessed with both Bill and Elise.

Most people remember Berkley as the smartypants, feminist, caffeine-addicted Jessie Spano from *Saved by the Bell* (1989–1992), or for her turn in the infamous NC-17 flop *Showgirls* (1995). The actress has been open about the blowback she received from the latter project, which she told PEOPLE in 2020 made her feel like a "pariah."

Aside from *The First Wives Club*, the Michigan native's career has featured several guest spotts on television, from *NYPD Blue *(2000) to *The L Word *(2009) and *CSI: Miami *(2008–2009).

More recently, however, she resurrected her most famous role on the next-gen revival of *Saved by the Bell*, which debuted on Peacock in 2020.

Berkley is married to fashion designer Greg Lauren, nephew of Ralph Lauren. They welcomed a son in 2012.

Travis Kelce confessed to Ryan Gosling his desire to travel to the moon. Gosling guested on the March 18 episode of the Kelce brothers' New Heights podcast to promote his movie, Project Hail Mary. Since Gosling's upcoming movie is a science-fiction comedy film. Naturally, the conversation gravitated towards space talk.

Travis Kelce and Ryan Gosling talk about travelling to space

Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce, and Ryan Gosling discuss traveling to space on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast. The Chiefs tight end asked, "So do we believe in aliens now? Do you want to go to space?" The Blue Valentine star replied, "I have no interest in going to space. Do you?"

Travis replied enthusiastically, "I do. I want to go." His older brother chimed in, "I have no interest. Travis does." The Chiefs TE continued, "The moon, I guess. It's the closest, just the closest thing. I don't want to get too far away that I miss too much time. Just there and back, just a quick shuttle."

Gosling explained his stance, "I don't want to go. I want to pretend to go." However, Jason quickly retorted, "You didn't want to go in the movie, either. We found that out." The Notebook star continued, "It feels like the conversation has shifted away from 'are there aliens' to more like 'where are they and when are we going to see them?'"

For those unversed, Project Hail Mary stars Gosling in the lead role alongside Sandra HĂĽller, Ken Leung, and Lionel Boyce. Andy Weir's 2021 novel serves as the base for the movie. The 45-year-old actor plays a science teacher-turned-astronaut, Ryland Grace, who is sent into outer space on an important mission to save Earth from a cataclysmic event.

On his journey, Grace meets an alien. The mysterious brown alien, Rocky, has multiple legs. Voice actor James Ortiz voices Rocky in the movie. Together, Rocky and Grace embark on a mission to save their respective planets. The film releases in cinemas on March 20. (via PEOPLE).

- Joseph Duggar rose to fame on TLC's *19 Years and Counting*.

- He married his wife, Kendra, in 2017, and they have three kids.

- In March 2026, Duggar was in connection with allegations that he molested a 9-year-old girl during a 2020 trip to Florida.

*19 Kids and Counting* alum Joseph Duggar is awaiting extradition to Panama City after being arrested and charged with allegedly molesting a child during a 2020 family trip to Florida.

Authorities in Bay County said on Wednesday, March 18, that the alleged incident involved a 9-year-old girl and occurred while Duggar was on a family vacation. Officials confirmed he's been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12, along with another charge tied to inappropriate behavior by a person 18 years or older.

According to investigators, Duggar was confronted by the girl's father and allegedly admitted "his actions" to authorities. He was later taken into custody in Arkansas, where he lives with his wife, Kendra, and their kids.

Here's everything to know about his family.

Joseph Duggar and Kendra's relationship started at church

During the season 6 premiere of TLC's *Counting On*, Duggar made things official by asking Kendra to start a courtship, and she said yes. At the time, he shared that they'd known each other "for about five years" but had only recently started getting closer.

The couple has been married for 8 years

Duggar and Kendra got engaged in May 2017 during his sister Joy-Anna's wedding, and then tied the knot just a few months later on September 8. He was 23 and Kendra was 19 when they got married.

"It is an amazing feeling to be husband and wife," Duggar told PEOPLE at the time. "It's something that I've always dreamed of to have a wife and to raise a family in a way that honors the lord. We are very excited to see what God has in the future for us."

According to the Duggar family website, Kendra "always finds time to be active outdoors, join a game of volleyball, or sit down to play the piano," and even helps her husband with work projects.

Joseph and Kendra share three children

The Duggars are now a family of five. Just nine months after getting married, they welcomed their first child, a son named Garrett David, in 2018.

"No matter how many times we've experienced the joy of babies born in our families, there's nothing comparable to the joy in our hearts today!" Joseph and Kendra said in a statement. "Children truly are a gift from God. We are so thankful for his safe arrival and this new journey as parents."

The Duggar family website describes Garrett as having a "serious personality" and being a "deep thinker that analyzes the little things." He enjoys playing outside, and he's especially into "trucks and cars and pretty much anything with wheels."

Their second child and first daughter, Addison Renee, was born in 2019. "She is all smiles and we can't get enough of her laugh," the parents shared on their website. Their youngest, Brooklyn Praise, arrived in 2021.

The couple often shared photos of their family life on Instagram, but their joint account (@littleduggarfamily) hasn't had any new posts since November 2021 — about a year after the police say he allegedly molested a 9-year-old girl in Florida.

- *The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives *star Taylor Frankie Paul is leading *The Bachelorette *season 22.

- On March 16, authorities confirmed an active "domestic assault investigation" involving Taylor and her ex, Dakota Mortensen.

- Disney confirmed in a statement that ABC has pulled the episodes from its schedule.

Taylor Frankie Paul shot to fame in 2022 as a founding member of #MomTok, a group of young Mormon wives and mothers sharing their lives on social media. Her rise accelerated after a "soft swinging" scandal made headlines the same year, and the attention only intensified when the friends reunited for Hulu's *The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives*, which quickly became a cultural sensation.

ABC announced in September 2025 that Taylor would be the next* *Bachelorette. She's never been part of the *Bachelor *franchise, but she spoke with host Jesse Palmer about her hopes for love and a fresh start.

"On *The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives*, there's a side to me that isn't shown. You see a lot of my chaos. My mess. My loud moments," she explained. "Everyone deserves a second chance. If anyone knows that feeling, it's me."

But this second chance is already mired with drama. Here's everything you need to know about the latest controversy surrounding Taylor, and why *The Bachelorette *season 22 won't actually air.

What happened between Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen?

On Monday, March 16, sources confirmed to PEOPLE that filming for *Mormon Wives* season 5 has been put on hold because Taylor "has some pretty serious stuff happening regarding her past, and they will see what happens. Until that resolves, they are off." TMZ was the first to report the news.

A spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE there is an active "domestic assault investigation" involving Taylor and her ex, Dakota Mortensen. They revealed that "allegations have been made in both directions" and "contact was made with involved parties on [Feb] 24th and 25th." They declined to share further details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

A source close to the matter told ** that cameras were not rolling during the incident and that Taylor's children were not present. EW has reached out to representatives for Taylor, Mortensen, and Hulu for comment. A representative for ABC did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

This isn't the first time trouble has followed Taylor and her ex-boyfriend. Back in *Mormon Wives *season 1, before their son Ever was born, Taylor was arrested in 2023 in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident with Mortensen.

She faced several charges, including aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child. She was also charged with child abuse after being accused of throwing a chair at Mortensen that instead hit her daughter from her previous marriage with Tate Paul. She pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, while the other charges were dropped.

On Thursday, March 19, TMZ released footage of the altercation, showing Paul throwing a chair at Mortensen while her daughter was present.

"It's sad to see the latest installment of his never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child," Taylor's rep told EW in a statement about the 2023 footage. "Releasing an old video, which conveniently omits context, on their son's birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior. Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show, and from their own experiences."

How is MomTok handling the situation?

As news of the investigation came to light, rumors began circulating that Taylor's *Mormon Wives *costars were trying to distance themselves from her.

"None of the women want to be associated with her," one insider told PEOPLE, adding that they are "very overwhelmed" and "getting tired of Taylor."

They also claimed that while "everything was going smoothly" before this, some resentment toward Taylor has been brewing. "They kind of all decided, as a unit, that they're taking the production pause, that they don't want to film right now," the source added. "I don't think they care about her really right now. They're just kind of like, 'We're done for right now.'"

Still, some fans have chalked it up to jealousy. Influencer Zack Peter addressed the rumors in a recent Instagram post, speculating about unverified reports that the cast was jealous of Taylor's role as the new *Bachelorette *lead. *Mormon Wives *star Jessi Ngatikaura shut down the chatter, commenting, "It was never a jealousy thing lol."

How has Taylor Frankie Paul addressed the investigation?

On Tuesday, March 17, Taylor opened up to EW about what's been going on. "I've had better days," she admitted. The reality star is "super excited" about the *Bachelorette *premiere, but added that "everything that's been heavy right now is kind of taking away from that, I'm not going to lie. But in the normal situation I'd be very excited."

As for the investigation and where things stand with Mortensen, Taylor shared that she "took action about a few weeks ago" when things started getting messy. "I'm just doing third-party everything — pick-up, drop-offs, communication — so no contact right now for me," she explained.

She continued, "I think that's the best case, honestly, because clearly it's just not to a point of us getting along, so I wanted to take the best action I could." Her main goal, she said, was to keep things private. "I didn't want to bring anything to the public eye, making it a bigger deal for the sake of my son, and just everything about to come out. But that wasn't the plan for [Mortensen]."

A representative for Mortensen told EW that his top priority is "protecting [their 2-year-old son], Ever." They also denied claims that Mortensen is behind making the situation public. "He knew there was a possibility it could come out, but he was not going to be the one to proactively do that because he has always wanted a decent relationship with Taylor. It's been really hard to achieve that, but he wants to co-parent well."

The rep added that Mortensen wanted the drama to calm down on its own. "He was just hoping that if he says nothing, as he usually does, it would go away. He's never done any kind of sit-down interview about his side," they said. "He kind of just lets it all happen to him, and I think he realizes with the severity of everything now that he just can't do that."

What was going on before *The Bachelorette *filming began?

The controversy isn't just tied to the domestic assault investigation: it also stretches back to the days before Taylor left to film *The Bachelorette*. In the season 4 finale of *Mormon Wives*, Mortensen claimed he and Taylor slept together the night before her departure.

The situation didn't sit well with Taylor's costars. In a confessional, Layla Taylor admitted she was "disappointed in Taylor."

"I don't think this was a smart move to do right before *The Bachelorette*," she said. "To be frank, if I was one of these guys and I found out that she effed her baby daddy the day before meeting me, I would be extremely upset and pissed."

Mayci Neeley echoed that frustration, saying, "Taylor not showing up at the airport is not only a bad sign for her and her journey on *The Bachelorette*, but also for MomTok. Like, she's going to choose Dakota, who's been kind of ruining her life the last three years, over something that is a fresh start. All of us in MomTok, we've all tried so hard to help her and we've all been there for her, but I think it backfired on us."

Meanwhile, Taylor's mom, Liann, said the ordeal made her feel "very sick" given what was at stake.

And the shock isn't limited to family and friends. On March 17, PEOPLE reported that a source close to the *Bachelorette *cast said several of the men who were on Taylor's season are "losing their minds" over the news.

"They're extremely disappointed," the source added. "They felt betrayed when they found this out because they all went into this to genuinely get to know Taylor." However, another insider claimed Taylor is "on great terms with the men from *The Bachelorette*."

Is *The Bachelorette *season 22 still going to air?

With the domestic assault investigation ongoing and Taylor's controversial actions before filming, the big question on everyone's mind is whether *The Bachelorette *season 22 will actually make it to air.

On March 19, ABC officially pulled the season. "In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of *The Bachelorette *at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family," a Disney spokesperson said in a statement to EW. TMZ was the first to report the cancellation.

TMZ previously** **claimed that *Bachelorette *producers were caught completely off guard, prompting ABC to hire "a public relations crisis manager to handle the fallout."

Even so, brands connected to the show are starting to pull back. On March 17, Cinnabon announced it's ending its partnerships with both *The Bachelorette* and *Mormon Wives*. "Recent developments and allegations surrounding the lead cast member led us to reassess this collaboration as it no longer aligns with our brand values," the company told PEOPLE in a statement.

The brand had been planning some *Bachelorette*-themed promotions, including limited-edition CinnaPacks packaging. Cinnabon also planned to release a Swirled Soda inspired by a viral drink from *Mormon Wives*, complete with themed cup sleeves.

Before *Virgin River*, there was another popular "fish out of water" series featuring small-town drama and medicine.

Premiering on CBS in 1990, *Northern Exposure* centers on Dr. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow), a young Jewish physician from New York City who's required to practice medicine in rural Cicely, Ala., for four years as a condition of his student loans. As Joel adjusts to small-town life, he develops close relationships with the eccentric local residents and reluctantly grows to appreciate Cicely's quirks.

Over its six-season run, *Northern Exposure *took home seven Emmys, two Golden Globes, and two Peabody Awards. The show continues to maintain a passionate fanbase today, beloved for its unique storytelling style, Indigenous casting, and LGBTQ representation.

Read on to see what Morrow, Barry Corbin, Janine Turner, and the rest of the *Northern Exposure *cast has been up to since the series ended in 1995.

Rob Morrow (Joel Fleischman)

After starring alongside Johnny Depp in the film *Private Resort *(1985), Rob Morrow got his big break when he landed the lead role of the neurotic doc on *Northern Exposure*.

After departing midway through the show's final season to focus more on films, he landed the co-lead role in Robert Redford's Oscar-nominated true-scandal hit, *Quiz Show *(1994), as well as a supporting gig in Albert Brooks' *Mother *(1996).

Over the past couple of decades, Morrow has scooped up a string of small-screen roles. He headlined the heady crime procedural *Numb3rs* (2005–2010), alongside David Krumholtz, and played famed attorney Barry Scheck on *The People vs. O.J. Simpson *(2016). He was also a recurring figure on *Billions *(2016–2023).

In 2018, it was reported that a *Northern Exposure *reboot was in the works, with Morrow in talks to reprise his role. However, there's been little development since.

"We used to talk about *Northern Exposure* taking place in a benevolent universe, where all walks of life could coexist," the actor reflected on his rewatch podcast, *Northern Disclosure*,* *in 2025. "On* Northern Disclosure*, we aim to capture some of the same fun, decency, wit, and intelligence that made the show so beloved — then and now."

Morrow married actress Debbon Ayer in 1998. The couple has one daughter.

Barry Corbin (Maurice Minnifield)

Barry Corbin played the pompous Maurice, a multi-millionaire businessman, Korean War fighter pilot, and ex-astronaut. Talk about a stacked résumé!

The Texas native has a reputation for playing cowboys, sheriffs, and authority figures. Prior to *Northern Exposure*, he racked up supporting roles in *WarGames* (1983), *Urban Cowboy *(1980), *Stir Crazy *(1980), and *Any Which Way You Can *(1980).

Many fans will also recognize him for his standout scene in the Coen brothers' modern classic, *No Country for Old Men *(2007). He also recently popped up in a small role in Martin Scorsese's *Killers of the Flower Moon *(2023).

The longtime TV veteran, whose career has taken him everywhere from *M*A*S*H *(1981) to *Dallas *(1979–1984), has been a regular on a handful of shows lately. The list includes *One Tree Hill* (2003–2009), *The Ranch *(2016–2020), and *Anger Management *(2012–2014), alongside Charlie Sheen. He also booked recurring roles on *Better Call Saul *(2020) and *Tulsa King *(2022-present).

Rob Morrow and Janine Turner are launching a 'Northern Exposure' rewatch podcast

Janine Turner spiced things up in Cicely as the spunky Maggie, a former bush pilot and Joel's landlord (and eventual love interest).

"She's a landlord. She's got courage. She has no pretenses," she told EW in 1991. "She is who she is and she's not afraid. Sounds like a man's role, doesn't it?"

A veteran of *General Hospital *and a decade's worth of guest spots at the time, Turner moved into a higher echelon with *Northern Exposure*, which she landed just after her small role in *Steel Magnolias *(1989).

She went on to play Sylvester Stallone's love interest in *Cliffhanger *(1993) and June Cleaver herself in the *Leave it to Beaver *(1997) film adaptation. Contemporary audiences may know her from her recurring arc on *Friday Night Lights *(2008–2009).

The Emmy-nominated actress has largely pivoted to writing and political commentary in recent decades.

Turner has one daughter with Jerry Jones Jr., son of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

John Cullum (Holling Vincoeur)

John Cullum portrayed Holling, the owner of Cicely's popular bar and restaurant, The Brick.

Arguably the most accomplished member of the cast, Cullum is a highly regarded stage actor in addition to his lengthy television and movie career. He won the Tony for Best Leading Actor in a Musical not once, but twice, for Broadway productions *Shenandoah* and *On the Twentieth Century*. In 2007, he was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native was a standout as Edward Rutledge in the film adaptation of *1776 *(1972), having already played the role on Broadway. He went on to star in the legendary TV movie *The Day After *(1983) and the Ryan Gosling/Kirsten Dunst drama *All Good Things *(2010), a fictionalized version of the true-crime tale later told on *The Jinx *(2015).

Over the years, Cullum has also appeared on *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* (2003–2011), *Mad Men *(2007), *30 Rock *(2012), and *The Middle *(2009–2018), among many others.

The actor was married to Emily Frankel from 1959 until her death in 2024. They had one son.

Cynthia Geary earned a pair of Emmy nominations as beauty pageant winner Shelly, the former Miss Northwest Passage.

After getting her career off the ground as Shelly, the Mississippi native was the romantic lead opposite Luke Perry in the rodeo drama *8 Seconds *(1994) and also appeared in several independent films, including *Smoke Signals *(1998).

More recently, she had a recurring role on Netflix's coming-of-age series *Penelope* (2024) as the title character's mother.

Like several of her castmates, Geary has expressed support for the idea of a *Northern Exposure *revival, sharing at a cast reunion in 2017, "We all want it to happen. Darren [Burrows]'s trying, Rob's trying."

The actress has two daughters with her ex-husband, Robert Coron.

Before he was competing for Carrie Bradshaw's affections, John Corbett planted roots in Cicely as an ex-convict and disc jockey.

Beyond *Northern Exposure *and *Sex and the City*, Corbett is widely known for *My Big Fat Greek Wedding* (2002) and its two sequels. Contemporary audiences may also recognize him from his fatherly role in Netflix's *To All the Boys *trilogy.

Elsewhere, he was the "other guy" in the Kate Beckinsale/John Cusack rom-com *Serendipity *(2001) and Kate Hudson's love interest in *Raising Helen *(2004) before securing a regular gig on Showtime's *United States of Tara* (2009–2011).

After a recurring stint on *Parenthood *(2011–2015), he reprised Aidan Shaw for the *SATC *sequel series *And Just Like That… *(2023–2025).

Corbett married his longtime girlfriend, Bo Derek, in 2020.

Darren E. Burrows played aloof yet kinda-genius Ed, a half-Native Alaskan orphan raised by the Tlingit tribe.

Prior to landing that signature role, the Kansan scored small roles in Brian De Palma's *Casualties of War *(1989) and John Waters' teen musical *Cry-Baby* (1990).

Following his time in small-town Alaska, Burrows appeared in the TV movie *The Siege at Ruby Ridge *(1996), alongside Randy Quaid, Laura Dern, and Kirsten Dunst, as well as Steven Spielberg's *Amistad *(1997). He later guest-starred on *NYPD Blue* (1998), *The X-Files* (1999), and *CSI* (2009).

In more recent years, the actor landed a role in the ensemble of acclaimed drama *Love Is Strange *(2014), alongside John Lithgow, Alfred Molina, and Marisa Tomei, and recently headlined the indie *Magpie Funeral *(2023).

Burrows married professional chef Melinda Delgado in 1993. The couple shares four children together.

Peg Phillips (Ruth-Anne Miller)

The late Peg Phillips brought some sense to Cicely as the level-headed general store owner, and proud film buff, Ruth-Anne. She was initially conceived as a peripheral recurring role, but was upped to series regular status after proving wildly popular with viewers.

Though she had a lifelong ambition for acting, she was a late bloomer in show business, entering the industry in her 60s. There were small parts for a few years, including in the acclaimed River Phoenix indie *Dogfight *(1991) and the Olsen twins' *How the West Was Fun *(1994). Then *Northern Exposure *not only made her a fan favorite, but an Emmy nominee.

"I almost didn't audition for the series because ... I don't go out on little cookie jar grandmother things," she said in a 1992 interview. "I don't have gray hair, I'm skinny and move too fast. I guess casting directors would see me more as a bag lady."

The Washington native later went on to guest star on* Suddenly Susan *(1996), *7th Heaven *(1996–1999), and *ER *(2000).

Phillips, who was married twice, had four children and eight grandchildren. She died of pulmonary disease in 2002 at 84 years old.

Elaine Miles (Marilyn Whirlwind)

Elaine Miles brought the no-nonsense receptionist Marilyn to life.

"It's crazy because when I first auditioned… I had no clue what it was," she said in a 2020 interview. "I never in my whole life thought I would become an actress. But with* Northern Exposure*, that first season, I was in awe the whole time."

Marilyn remains her signature role, but Miles has a few more calling cards as well. She appeared in the Native American indie classic *Smoke Signals *(1998) as well as *The Business of Fancydancing* (2002) and the HBO film *Scattering Dad *(1998).

The Northwest native scored a supporting role as a sheriff in the Alfre Woodard-led drama *Juanita *(2019), then found a huge new audience with a guest appearance on *The Last of Us *in the critically acclaimed episode "Kin."

Miles is a citizen of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. She has one son.

Sally Ride became the first American woman to fly in space back in 1983. It's about time Hollywood pay her a proper tribute amid the ever-popular streaming era.

And why not enlist an Academy Award-nominated actress to portray the late pioneer? It was previously announced that Kristen Stewart was attached to star in The Challenger — and now, Amazon has officially greenlit the astronaut-centered limited series, Deadline reports.

The project comes from Maggie Cohn (HBO Max's The Staircase), who will write, executive produce and serve as showrunner, Deadline also noted on Thursday, March 19. It's reportedly based on Meredith E. Bagby's book The New Guys (2023).

"Sally Ride's courage and brilliance changed history, and we couldn't imagine a more powerful actor to bring her story to life than Kristen Stewart," said Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios, in a statement, per Deadline. "The Challenger is an inspiring story about breaking barriers, and we're thrilled to collaborate with Big Swing Productions, Amblin Television, Nevermind Pictures, Maggie Cohn, and James Hawes to share it with our global Prime Video audience."

After becoming the first American woman to enter space on June 18, 1983, Ride was later part of the Presidential Commission on the Space Shuttle Challenger Accident, which happened on January 28, 1986, and killed seven crew members.

Per Deadline, The Challenger tells the story of one of the most defining moments in space history, both the unprecedented events leading up to the tragedy, and the shocking investigation that followed. As the members of the 1986 Rogers Commission interrogate the complex inner workings of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to find what, or who, was responsible for the Challenger's doomed fate, the show explores Commission member Ride's personal journey. It follows her, and the rest of the diverse Astronaut Class of '78, through the ranks of the shuttle program, through initial recruitment and training, professional and personal highs and lows, until her historic glass ceiling moment as she becomes the first American woman in space.
