Netflix's hit spy thriller stars Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent who's now operates in the shadows as, well, a night agent. Each season, he's drawn into a massive conspiracy he must stop before disaster strikes.

Season 3 premiered on Thursday, Feb. 19, and while fans are gearing up to binge Peter's next mission, the big question is whether he'll return for a fourth season. Here's everything we know so far about *The Night Agent *season 4.

Will there be a season 4 of The Night Agent?

*The Night Agent *is returning for a fourth season. Netflix confirmed the renewal two weeks after the season 3 premiere, which racked up 13.9 million views in its first four days on the streamer.

"It's been a wild ride filming *The Night Agent* in five countries across three continents to this point and we're so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland will continue into season 4," showrunner Shawn Ryan said in a statement. "Our writers, our cast and our crew stand ready to answer the call to bring our incredible fans even more twists, turns and thrills."

The renewal comes after Ryan told *Deadline** *that development on season 4 has been underway for some time.

"A while ago, in calendar year 2025, they did quietly pick up a writers room," he explained, adding that the team was in the "story-breaking, script-writing phase."

An official synopsis for *The Night Agent *season 4 has yet to be revealed, but fans can expect to see Peter take on a new assignment, uncovering more criminal schemes and encountering both new allies and foes along the way.

We can't picture *The Night Agent *without Basso, so he's almost certainly reprising his role as Peter Sutherland in season 4. Since the beginning, he's been leading a mostly new cast each season, which is exactly how Ryan envisioned the series.

"What I had pitched to Netflix from the very beginning is that these will be different stories, oftentimes in different places, and that not a lot of characters will port over from one season to another," the showrunner previously told *TVLine*.

Fola Evans-Akingbola will also likely be back as Secret Service agent Chelsea Arrington, but the rest of the cast is still up in the air.

As for Luciane Buchanan, who played tech genius Rose Larkin in the first two seasons, her future on the show is uncertain. She announced her departure in September 2025, but also hinted at a potential return down the line.

"I won't be returning to Season 3 of *The Night Agent*," she told *Deadline*. "As much as that show has been so amazing, especially for my career … the writers decided that they wanted to follow Peter and his journey based on what happened at the end of Season 2. And so, we don't get to see what happens to Rose, but I think it's a really exciting time for the show, and who knows, it's not a goodbye forever."

When does *The Night Agent *season 4 come out?

There's no word on a release date yet, but Ryan has said he would like to get new seasons on the streamer quickly. *The Night Agent *will likely still follow an annual schedule with 10 episodes, meaning viewers won't have to wait long between seasons 3 and 4.

"This cadence is easy," Ryan told *Deadline*. "Compared to all the network stuff I did back in the day, you would have just finished making 22 episodes and before you're even done doing post on that final episode, the writers room is starting up for the next season. When I was doing *The Shield *and *The Unit*, I think I made something like 44 episodes of TV in a calendar year. So this is nothing compared to that."
