The fever over "Heated Rivalry" may be breaking, but series creator Jacob Tierney isn't done dominating television yet.

On March 5, Netflix announced Tierney would write, direct, and executive produce "Alexander," a new series from the streamer set to lay bare "the little-known story of Alexander the Great and his tutor, Aristotle."

Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman from Aggregate Films are slated to executive produce the series alongside Tierney and Brendan Brady, who also lent a hand for "Heated Rivalry." The show is based on "The Golden Mean," a 2009 novel by Annabel Lyon that paints the famous philosopher as the curious and sometimes frustrated teacher of Alexander, whom he hopes will pull back the desire to conquer inherited from his father.

Jacob Tierney attends the 37th Annual GLAAD Media Awards at The Beverly Hilton on March 5, 2026, in Beverly Hills, California.

"I fell in love with Annabel Lyon's book 'The Golden Mean' years ago and have been dreaming of telling this story ever since," Tierney told Tudum, Netflix's in-house publication. "Brendan and I could't be more excited to be partnering with Aggregate and Netflix to bring this insanely compelling world to life."

"This series reimagines the classic power struggle between mentor and protégé with a raw, modern energy that feels both epic and incredibly intimate," Jinny Howe, head of US and Canada scripted series at Netflix, added. A release date for the show has not been announced, nor has any of the major cast.

'Heated Rivalry' author Rachel Reid pushes back 'Unrivaled' release

Tierney is the brains behind "Heated Rivalry," a wildly popular show released last year based on a book series by Rachel Reid. The series, which follows two rival hockey players as they fall in lust, then love, has set the internet ablaze. The graphic HBO adaptation prompted conversations around the politics of desire, the importance of LGBTQ representation, and just how steamy we want our television to be. The answer? Very steamy.

In Tierney's most famous project to date provides any clue, it's that "Alexander" will hit screens with intrigue, intimacy, and capital-D-drama.
