On March 23, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced a new fictional show for Netflix, based on the world of polo

Their Archewell Productions company has other projects underway as well, PEOPLE understands

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's production company is gearing up for a new slate of projects across multiple streaming platforms, PEOPLE understands.Insiders say the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are developing a mix of scripted and non-fiction programming, with several projects currently in the pipeline."There is a mix of both fiction and non-fiction projects on the slate," a close source says.

"There is a natural attrition as you work through the stages of development, but Archewell Productions will have programming across several streaming platforms over the next few years," the source added.

It comes as it was announced on March 23 that their Archewell Production company and Netflix had partnered to bring a new scripted show about the world of polo to screens.

It was also confirmed that an adaptation of Jasmine Guillory's book The Wedding Date is underway, and Meet Me at the Lake, an adaptation of Carley Fortune's romance novel, now has a director attached.

Last year, the couple's production team's deal with Netflix transitioned to a multi-year, first-look deal for film and television projects.

The news of the polo-themed series — said to be inspired by POLO, a docuseries around one of Harry's favorite sports that premiered to lackluster ratings on Netflix in 2024 — came days after it was alleged that Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, have a strained relationship with the streaming giant.

Representatives for Netflix and for the couple both pushed back against the claims made in the Variety report. It had been said on March 17 that the streaming giant was caught off guard by the couple's controversial joint interview with Oprah in 2021, which came as they stepped back from their royal roles and relocated to Meghan's home state of California, ahead of their 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan.

The report also alleged that Netflix was "blindsided" by the release of Prince Harry's 2023 memoir Spare, which offered a rare glimpse into his royal upbringing.

Netflix executive Bela Bajaria shut down rumors of a dispute. "Don't believe whatever you read," the Chief Content Officer at Netflix said. "Maybe we should all do a little fact-checking."

Meghan's lifestyle brand, As ever, has also ended its relationship with Netflix and will continue "independently," spokespeople for the lifestyle brand and Netflix said.
