The power of three continues to set us free.

It may not come from the original *Charmed** *triumvirate of Piper Halliwell (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano), and Prue Halliwell (Shannen Doherty) anymore, nor from Piper, Phoebe, and Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan), who arrived following Doherty's controversial season 3 firing.

Combs now hosts rewatch podcast *House of Halliwell** *about the supernatural drama with fellow alums Brian Krause, who played Leo Wyatt, and Drew Fuller, who appeared on the show as Chris Halliwell. On Tuesday's new episode, they revisited fond memories of Doherty, who died in 2024, out of which sprang surprising links to Eric Dane, who was a recurring star of seasons 5 and 6, playing Jason Dean, and died in February.

"You think about those people who had a zest for life, for lack of a better term. [Doherty] was always so happy to have a dinner party or a birthday party or host a holiday," Combs reflected. "And Dane was the same way."

Combs and Doherty played sisters on the series for three seasons and remained quite close after Doherty's departure. Krause, whose Leo was an angelic protector, shared as many memorable scenes with the *Beverly Hills, 90210 *alum. But Fuller, who played Piper and Leo's son, arrived on *Charmed *two seasons too late to spend any time with Doherty.

All three were around for Dane's arc as newspaper owner Jason Dean, who courts Milano's Phoebe in season 5 only to nearly die as a result of her becoming possessed by the ghost of the notorious WWI spy Mata Hari.

"He really loved to be on set and working," Fuller noted.

Combs concurred, reflecting, "You could have never told him he wouldn't work forever. And he did, because he loved what he did as an actor so, so much. There was no way he was ever going to stop working. And he didn't. Shannen was the same way."

She remembered Dane as "always there for a good time. He was almost bigger than life. And I don't think it's because you start to remember them that way. It is because that's who they were."

Though Doherty and Dane never shared the screen on *Charmed*, their legacies on the series endure.

On a September installment of *House of Halliwell, *Krause and Fuller recapped Doherty's final *Charmed *episode without Combs, who noted it would have been to painful to revisit.

To Krause and Fuller's minds, the plot hole-ridden "All Hell Breaks Loose," which originally aired on May 17, 2001, was salvaged due to the strength of the cast's performances — Doherty's in particular.

"The saving grace of this episode is everyone is so dang good, you know?" Fuller remarked. "Everyone is just on their A-game from an acting standpoint. We might not like the story, but imagine if people were phoning in."
