The dad of two used humor to navigate the conversation and explain why that wouldn't be possible

John Mulaney recently had to break the news as to why his son couldn't meet his favorite musician.

The comedian and dad of two, 43, recently joined The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and recalled a difficult interaction with his son Malcolm, 4, whom he shares with his wife Olivia Munn, during his recent tour stop in Memphis. While the father-son pair were touring Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley, Mulaney told host Stephen Colbert that he had to explain to his son why he wouldn't be able to see the late singer.

"So, we're in the jungle room, ... and we're looking around, and Malcolm goes, 'Dad, can I meet Elvis now?' " Mulaney recalled. "It had never come up while listening to 'Hound Dog.' You don't go, 'You know, son, this guy's dead, right? You want to know how he died?'"

"So, I go, 'No, you can't.' And, he goes, 'Please, I want to.' I go, 'Oh, no. It's not like a permission thing.' Then I realized all his grandparents are alive and he's never had a goldfish," he continued, realizing at that moment that his son wasn't familiar with the concept of death. "He doesn't know. Like, he doesn't know. And he's about to find out in the jungle room at Graceland that everybody dies. And so how did you convey this?"

The doting dad, who also shares daughter Méi with his actress wife, 45, went on to share how he explained to Malcolm why he couldn't meet Presley.

"I said, 'Elvis is in heaven now.' And he said, 'Why?' " Mulaney recalled of their conversation in Graceland. "And I said, "Uh, well, sometimes when people are in their early 40s, and they have a job and schedule a lot like daddy. Uh, and some of the same issues as daddy. They go to the bathroom and they go to heaven.'"

Mulaney and Munn were first spotted together in June 2021 and welcomed their son Malcolm Hiệp five months later. In July 2024, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at a friend's house in New York, with Sam Waterston marrying the pair and just their son and one other witness in attendance.

While the Hollywood couple may travel often for work, they try their best to maintain a balance and show up for their kids. Back in April, the Your Friends and Neighbors actress shared that her son can recognize her husband when he sees him on TV. The proud mom also said that he made frequent visits to the set of Mulaney's Netflix show, Everybody's Live With John Mulaney.

"He clocks it and he says things to John, and he said the other day, he was like 'You had so many guys stand in a diagonal line,' and it was for like ... a height thing," she told PEOPLE. "Malcolm goes to set and he sees the same Mother Robot. He knows everyone there, so he recognizes John on TV and remembers it."

Following the PEOPLE event, Munn shared a clip of her interview on her Instagram Stories, adding, "Malcolm loves watching daddy's Netflix show Everybody's Live every Wednesday."

During his Netflix show, the comedian poked fun at what it's like raising a toddler. Mulaney compared the experience to working on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, almost five years after the show ended following toxic workplace allegations made against host Ellen DeGeneres.

"You know what having a 3-year-old is like?" he asked viewers. "Having a 3-year-old is what I imagine working on Ellen [DeGeneres'] show was like. Because people come over and they're like, 'How is it?' And you're, like, 'Oh, it's fine. You know, we have fun. There's games.'"

"We have dancing, you know. So if he starts dancing, you dance. But if he stops dancing," he continued, changing to a more serious tone before saying, "You f------ stop dancing right away.'"

"Pop pop" Lionel Richie is proud to see his family growing with daughter Sofia Richie Grainge's newborn son.

"The beautiful part about it is that the family keeps growing, and my pride keeps popping out of my chest," he told USA TODAY after taping "American Idol" on March 30. "It's wonderful. Everyone's happy, and that's the part I love the most, watching everyone blossom."

Richie Grainge, 27, gave birth to her and Elliot Grainge's second child, Henry Cecil Grainge, on March 18. They're also parents to Henry's older sister, Eloise Samantha Grainge, who turns 2 on May 20.

Lionel Richie now has four grandchildren, including eldest daughter Nicole Richie's daughter Harlow Madden and son Sparrow Madden. Richie Grainge, Lionel Richie's youngest child with ex-wife Diane Alexander, also has an older brother, Miles Richie.

Lionel Richie said "my pride keeps popping out of my chest" with the birth of his youngest child Sofia Richie Grainge's son, Henry.

But in his eighth year as an "Idol" judge, Lionel Richie is starting to feel less like a mentor and more like a patriarch of the ever-growing family. Currently in its 24th season, "American Idol" casts singers who are between 15 and 29 years old at the time of their audition, and the Top 14 contestants were revealed March 30.

Lionel Richie recalls nervous breakdown, how a fan stopped his spiral in his memoir

"Pop pop is out there again. I'm pop pop everywhere," the 76-year-old said. "Isn't that funny? I came here thinking I'd be Mr. Richie. Now I'm pop pop on 'American Idol.'"

Richie, formerly of the Commodores, is an Oscar-, Grammy- and Golden Globe-winning musician who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.

Richie, who is often private about his family, in a rare moment opened up about his late father during the "Idol" 2026 auditions.

Dan Levy is explaining why he "needed to take a minute" to create his next series after Schitt's Creek ended in 2020

Levy, whose new show Big Mistakes arrives in April, recalled the "immediate conversation" about what he'd "do next"

"God forbid I nap," he said during a Monday, March 30, event to promote his new project, per The Hollywood Reporter

Dan Levy "needed to take a minute" after the ending of Schitt's Creek.

The Big Mistakes star and showrunner, 42, caught up with fellow series co-creator Rachel Sennott during a Monday, March 30, conversation in Los Angeles, when he explained how "a lot of time had to pass" between the hit show's ending and coming up with their new series together.

Schitt's Creek, which also starred Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara, wrapped in 2020 after six seasons.

"When the show ended, there was this immediate conversation of, like, 'What are you doing next?" Levy said at Max & Helen's, per The Hollywood Reporter, calling the question "a horrible way of doing business."

"God forbid I nap," he added. "For me, it was like, I needed to take a minute because I knew what the show meant to me and I knew what it meant to other people. And having a show of your own, you're so proud of what you make, and if you're lucky enough to get, in our case, six seasons of a TV show, you walk away from that really proud of what you've done."

Levy added that jumping into "something else" almost "does the new project a disservice."

"Because you're constantly going to be comparing it to the one that came before," he said. "So I needed the dust to settle."

Speaking with GQ in 2019, Levy said that the last day on set of the hit comedy was "really, really hard" and that he was "very sad" to take off the shoes of his character, David Rose.

In the years since Schitt's Creek wrapped, Levy made his feature directorial debut via the 2024 Netflix drama Good Grief. He now stars in and serves as an EP on Big Mistakes, which arrives on the streamer April 9.

The show follows Nicky (Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega) as "two deeply incapable siblings who are blackmailed into the world of organized crime," per a Netflix synopsis.

"I'm so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix," Levy said in a previous statement. "I'm thrilled with the team we're building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name, and it's been my life's mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf 'mother.' Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone."

Elsewhere during his conversation with Sennott, the pair discussed how they previously teamed up on 2023's The Idol, per THR.

"We only spent four days together, but I've been madly in love with everything you've ever done and I respect the hell out of you," Levy said. "I remember pitching you the idea and being like … So anyway, I thought like maybe we could collaborate on this, and you were like, 'I'm in.'"

Big Mistakes arrives April 9 on Netflix.

Milly Alcock admitted that she felt nervous over her career prospects after she broke out in HBO's House of the Dragon

The actress stars in DC Studios' upcoming Superman spinoff Supergirl, in theaters June 26

Alcock also recently starred in the Netflix series Sirens

Milly Alcock made a leap of faith from one franchise to another when she landed her role in Supergirl.

Alcock, 25, reflected on finding fame with her lead role in the first season of HBO's House of the Dragon — and transitioning out of the series after just a handful of episodes — in a newly published interview with Vanity Fair on Tuesday, March 31.

"I was so s--- scared that my life was over at 22," she told the outlet. "And, of course, it wasn't," she added, noting that she "kind of bullied myself into" taking on the lead part in Supergirl.

Alcock made her onscreen acting debut in the mid-2010s, but she broke out in popular culture when she portrayed a young version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon in 2022. Given that the show spans a significant number of years, Alcock only appeared in five episodes of the series' first season and reprised the part for two episodes in 2024's second season, leaving her in need of more work even as the series continued.

In 2025, she starred in the series Sirens and made her first appearance in the DC Universe at the end of Superman, which established her and David Corenswet's Clark Kent as big-screen cousins.

The new Supergirl movie, the second in James Gunn's DC Universe, sees Alcock's character "reluctantly join forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice," per an official synopsis for the new movie.

Alcock also commented on the notion that she will face "inevitable backlash" for taking a leading role in a superhero movie as a woman in the film industry while speaking with Vanity Fair.

"[Starring in the Game of Thrones spinoff] definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on," she said. "We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women's bodies. I can't really stop them. I can only be myself."

After the Supergirl movie hits theatres on June 26, the DC Universe will continue with Clayface, which stars Tom Rhys Harries and will release Sept. 11. After that, a sequel to Superman, titled Man of Tomorrow, is scheduled to release July 9, 2027. It's unclear whether Alcock will appear in either of those movies, though her character appears primed to stick around her cousin Superman's life for the long haul.

After Supergirl releases, Alcock herself will next appear alongside SofĂa Vergara and Kate McKinnon in the comedy Thumb and costar with Toni Collette in Hot Mother.

"I want to work with a bunch of really cool young women," she told Vanity Fair, shouting out comedian and actress Rachel Sennott as "f---ing fab" in particular.

Supergirl is in theaters June 26.

Jenny McCarthy is sharing the unexpected health ailment that led her to develop a "toxic" jaw infection and "oozing" eye growths.

The *Masked Singer** *panelist, 53, revealed in a clip from an upcoming episode of Maria Menounos' *Heal Squad* podcast that she was diagnosed with mycotoxin poisoning, a.k.a mold toxicity, after undergoing multiple surgeries to treat her symptoms.

"The last time I was here, I was literally on my way to the biological dentist because I had gone through six months of living hell," McCarthy began. "I had an infected root canal. What wound up happening was it didn't get cleaned out all the way."

A few months later, the untreated infection spread to her jawbone. "I had three of these toxic pools hiding under my wisdom teeth, so we did root cavitations and it just kept getting infected," she said. "I'm like, 'What is happening?' I'm on surgery, like, number eight."

But that wasn't her only symptom. "I started growing these growths on my eye, Maria," McCarthy said, touching her lower eyelid. "On the eyelid right here, it looked like the nastiest whitehead, pus-filled eraser top growing on my [lower lash line]."

She continued, "I'm like, 'What the heck is this?' They're like, 'You're not washing your eyes enough.' I'm like, 'Bulls---.'"

McCarthy had the eye growth surgically removed only for it to reappear a month later.

"Four weeks later, it grew back. Four weeks later, another one grew back," she said. "Now I'm into July, oozing infection coming through my eye, my mouth is being infected, we put the implants in, the implants were rejected, and I'm like, 'What is going on!?'"

It was then that her medical team went in a different direction. "My functional medicine doctor said, 'Okay, hold on. You're the healthiest patient I have. We gotta go dig deeper,'" she said. "She goes, 'I'm gonna test you for mold.'"

Which led to her eventual diagnosis. "The reason why you're having constant infections, your body won't heal, you're oozing things is because you have mold," McCarthy said. "You have mycotoxin poisoning."

While she noted that "people with good immune systems can handle" mold exposure, she explained that "people with weaker immune systems, people with leaky gut, candida, all these things that I'm already fighting" can struggle with it.

"I have a certain mold that causes seizures," McCarthy said. "[The doctor] goes, 'If this thing that you've got crosses the blood-brain barrier, you're gonna be in the hospital having seizures. I'm like, 'Oh my God.'"

Even with her diagnosis, McCarthy's recovery hasn't been easy. "I became antibiotic resistant last year," she said. "The mycotoxins made me antibiotic resistant, so no wonder why infection, infection, infection. I was taking all these antibiotics that weren't working for me anymore."
