Not even a wardrobe malfunction could stop Viola Davis from celebrating Michael B. Jordan winning the Actor Award.

The Oscar-winning actress, 60, revealed that she ripped her dress during her viral reaction to Jordan taking home the prize for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Ryan Coogler's vampire drama *Sinners* at the March 1 ceremony.

"And I didn't rip my dress — well, I did rip my dress open," Davis confessed on Tuesday's episode of *The Tonight Show*. "I did. I did rip my dress open. But it's all good!"

While presenting the award, Davis opened the envelope, gasped, and shouted, "You are shining, Harold Loo-!" — a reference to the line "You are shining, Harold Loomis. Shining like new money" from August Wilson's 1984 play *Joe Turner's Come and Gone* — before saying Jordan's name. As the actor hugged his costar Delroy Lindo, who originated the role of Harold Loomis on Broadway in 1988, and made his way to the stage, Davis could be overheard excitedly cheering, "Oh! Oh! Oh!"

And she made sure to celebrate Jordan when he arrived, pulling him into a hug before handing him the trophy.

Davis' enthusiastic reaction to Jordan's win quickly went viral, but as she told host Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, she's a naturally excitable person. "I think that I'm that auntie at the party that's had one too many beers and just shows her ass too many times," she quipped. "'Cause that was that moment."

Davis recently told *Variety* that she and her husband Julius Tennon have been "laughing for two days" at the reaction to the viral clip.

She also took a moment to praise Jordan and his career. "Michael B. Jordan is an incredible human and an incredible leader," she told the outlet. "It's extremely exciting what he's going to become. Pop star Katy Perry is facing intense backlash for a "tone-deaf" response to a struggling fan, which left many netizens calling her reaction "grim" and "evil" over what they perceived as mockery of the fan's struggles.

The controversy began after a viral emotional post on X shared by a fan named Ria on Tuesday, March 10, showed the singer responding to the fan's severe financial and mental health struggles.

Many critics accused Perry of lacking empathy toward someone clearly going through a difficult time, as one user fumed, "When someone shows you who they are, BELIEVE THEM… She is an evil money grubber, that is all that matters to her while laughing at her FANS that made her who she is…."

While the primary 2025 leg of The Lifetimes Tour officially wrapped in Abu Dhabi in December last year, Katy Perry extended the tour into a 2026 summer festival circuit across Europe.

According to the official tour schedule, Perry's 2026 European leg includes several high-profile shows in June and July, including in places like Dublin, Luxembourg, and France, among other countries.

Ria, a fan of the 41-year-old pop star, shared a now-deleted post expressing her struggles, explaining that she could not afford to live amid the current financial conditions.

She wrote, "I so badly don't wanna be here anymore."

"I'm not cut out for this world. I cannot afford to live at this rate, and I'm so close to selling my Katy ticket."

While the individual did not specify the exact city she had purchased a ticket for, it was likely for one of Perry's upcoming European tour stops.

Tickets are reportedly priced between $110.46 and over $254.39 (approximately €95.57 to over €220.10), depending on the concert venue.

It has also been reported that resale prices for these tickets on online platforms have exceeded $258 to $333 (approximately €223.22 to €288.10).

In light of the steep ticket prices and the fan's financial struggles, the Firework singer made what critics described as an "insensitive" and "out-of-touch" reply.

Perry commented on the post, "But I am looking forward to seeing you!"

The 41-year-old's remarks were bluntly called an "out-of-touch" celebrity response to someone who is "barely able to afford essentials"

While the fan allegedly responded, "I love you!" before deleting the post, displeased social media users pointed out that a multi-millionaire pop star could have easily offered a free ticket, a VIP upgrade, or financial assistance instead of what they called a "selfish" response that ignored the fan's stated desperation.

One critic argued, "This is so grim…. Not even an offer of a free ticket or help offered… girl."

A second user wrote, "Wow Katy, you're clearly so out of touch! You just keep living your out-of-touch high life while everyone else is barely able to afford essentials (food, rent, insurance)."

A third commented, "If you 'loved her', you'd give her a VIP Meet and Greet Package and tell her to sell the ticket so she could have extra money to enjoy the show. This is so tone deaf lmao."

"She got where she is by overcharging her loyal fans to extortionate levels. low life."

While the majority bashed Katy, some supporters argued that the fan named Ria was "blackmailing" her for financial gain and "attention"

However, many fans of the singer fiercely defended her, arguing it was "not Katy's problem," and instead accused the original poster of "clout chasing" and even "blackmailing."

One fan wrote, "With all the scammers, who knows if that post was even true. Probably somebody just trying to get a better free ticket or attention."

Another supporter argued, "Are people who have made their own fortune supposed to just give it away to people who overspend? It's not her job to help everybody out financially."

"On this I can't blame [Katy]. If you can barely afford the necessities to get by, you definitely do not buy a concert ticket. The first things that go in the hard times are the luxuries, which would absolutely include concert tickets," a third netizen added.

"The girl would feel better if she just went to the concert and didn't try to emotionally blackmail Katy into saying something…"

It was reported that Ria responded to some excited fans in the comments, telling them she was "grateful" for Katy's personal response.

To one person's comment she replied, "Thank you, was needed and I'm grateful for it," while she told another, "Yeah just going through a tough patch at the moment."

The Harleys in Hawaii singer has not yet responded to the mounting criticism of her reply.

The fan has, however, claimed she was "grateful" for Perry's response and even deleted her original post to squash further controversy

However, it is not the first time a celebrity has faced backlash for "tone-deaf" comments toward struggling fans.

Celebrities like Kim Kardashian were criticized in 2022 over advice to women in business that many felt ignored her own wealthy upbringing, when she said, "Get your f**king a** up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days."

Critics pointed out that "working hard" looks very different when you have a safety net, nannies, and chefs, compared to a single parent working three jobs to pay rent.

During the start of the COVID-19 lockdowns, Ellen DeGeneres also drew fire for comparing her multi-million-dollar California mansion to a prison.

Fans found it offensive to compare a luxury estate with a pool and manicured grounds to a prison cell, especially while many people and healthcare workers at the time were facing life-threatening conditions.

"You'd be calling [Katy] performative the second she helped publicly. You're just looking for a reason to be mad," wrote one fan

More than five decades ago, a groovy soul anthem helped bring legendary singer Ben E. King back to the top of the charts.

In March 1975, his disco-soul hit "Supernatural Thing" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, according to BirthdayJams, marking a major comeback moment in the singer's long and influential career.

The upbeat track, released in January 1975 through Atlantic Records, blended smooth soul vocals with the rising disco sound of the mid-1970s. Its success proved that King's voice, already famous from classic hits like "Stand by Me," still had the power to connect with a new generation of music fans.

"Supernatural Thing," often listed as "Supernatural Thing, Pt. 1," also climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming King's highest pop-charting single since the early 1960s.

By 1975, King was already known as one of the most important voices in rhythm and blues. Born Benjamin Earl Nelson in North Carolina in 1938, he first rose to fame as the lead singer of The Drifters.

Per Britannica, King helped deliver major hits such as "There Goes My Baby" and "Save the Last Dance for Me," during his time with the group from 1958 to 1960.

After leaving the group, he launched a successful solo career. His early solo hits included "Spanish Harlem" and the beloved classic "Stand by Me," which he co-wrote and recorded in 1961.

But as music trends shifted during the late 1960s, King's chart presence slowed. The arrival of the British Invasion and changing pop styles made it harder for many earlier soul artists to stay on top. That changed when "Supernatural Thing" arrived in 1975.

Written by songwriters Patrick Grant, also known as Patrick Adams, and Gwen Guthrie, the track mixed funky bass lines, bright horn sections and disco rhythms. King even sang the song in a higher vocal register than his usual deep baritone, showing how he could adapt to the evolving sound of the decade.

The gamble paid off. The single became one of the biggest hits of his later career and reintroduced his voice to radio listeners across the country.

"Supernatural Thing" did more than reach No. 1 on the R&B chart. It also became a staple on dance floors and soul playlists thanks to its infectious groove.

The track appeared on King's 1975 album Supernatural, which featured the song split into two parts. Combined, the full version runs for around seven minutes, highlighting the extended grooves popular in disco-era recordings.

The album also included tracks such as "Your Lovin' Ain't Good Enough" and "What Do You Want Me to Do," further showcasing King's blend of classic soul and emerging disco influences.

The success of "Supernatural Thing" helped launch another strong single from the same era, "Do It in the Name of Love," which also landed in the Top 5 on the R&B chart.

The recognition didn't stop with the charts. "Supernatural Thing – Part I" later earned King a nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male at the 18th Annual Grammy Awards in 1976.

Across his career, King recorded dozens of hits and helped shape the sound of modern R&B and soul music. From the late 1950s through the 1980s, he scored five No. 1 songs, 12 Top 10 hits and 26 Top 40 singles.

King's influence was also formally recognized when Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted The Drifters in 1988. The singer passed away in 2015 at age 76, but his music remains a cornerstone of soul and R&B history.

And while "Stand by Me" is often the song most people remember first, the success of "Supernatural Thing" in 1975 showed that Ben E. King's talent could shine across different eras of music.

The Florida woman accused of shooting at Rihanna's home over the weekend has officially been charged with attempted murder.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced that Ivanna Lisette Ortiz was charged with one count of attempted murder, 10 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.

If convicted as charged, Ortiz faces up to life in state prison.

"Opening fire in any populated neighborhood is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and will be fully prosecuted," Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a statement. "Thankfully, no one was injured in this shooting, but this careless violence will not be tolerated in our community. Such shooters will find their next destination to be our jails and prisons."

On March 8, at about 1:20 p.m., Ortiz is accused of driving up to Rihanna's residence in the Beverly Crest neighborhood and firing a semiautomatic weapon multiple times in its direction. Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, their three young children, Rihanna's mother, and two staff members were all home at the time of the incident, "but no one was struck by gunfire," confirmed the D.A.

30 years ago today, on March 12, 1996, Celine Dionreleased her landmark album, Falling into You, in the United States via 550 Music and Epic Records. The project had begun its international rollout earlier that month, arriving in Australia on March 8 and in the UK and across Europe on March 11, giving the collection a gradual, worldwide launch before its US debut.

By the time Dion had dropped the album, she was already 13 albums in and found success with her previous two collections — 1993's The Colour of My Love and 1995's D'eux (a French-language album). Despite having released over a dozen projects, this particular collection solidified the Canadian star as a major global icon.

The Album Took Home Two Grammy Awards in 1997

The scale of Falling into You's commercial success was astronomical. It went on to sell over 32 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the best-selling albums in history. Dion would also be named a best-selling artist of all time, per a list by Business Insider.

The Diamond-Certified body of work also won two Grammy Awards in 1997. They were for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album. Among several other major accomplishments, Falling into You belongs on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Definitive 200 list.

At a time when vocal pop powerhouses were prominent, Dion was dominating mainstream radio with her singles from the album. Featuring 16 tracks, Falling into You spawned six No. 1 hits in the US and internationally, including "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," "Because You Loved Me," "All by Myself" (an Eric Carmen cover), "If That's What It Takes," "I Don't Know," and "River Deep, Mountain High."

The Project Was Highly Collaborative

Several songwriters and musicians, along with 14 producers, collaborated on the album, lending their expertise to craft a masterpiece with a wide sonic landscape. Each song was carefully shaped with hand-picked musical elements, blending pop synths, soft rock influences, orchestral arrangements, sweeping stringed sections, and radio-friendly sensibilities.

But above all, the album positioned Dion's remarkable voice at the center, showcasing her dynamic vocal delivery to the world, and she could rise to towering notes, such as a sustained high F, and hold it with control and power. Moments like these helped cement the album as a showcase for a once-in-a-generation vocalist whose voice continues to resonate decades later.

Here's a free piece of advice to Nicole Kidman's future costars: stay away from falafel sandwiches.

Appearing on the latest episode of the *Las Culturistas* podcast, Kidman shared her personal "I don't think so, honey" with hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang.

"I cannot stand bad breath," the Oscar-winner revealed. "This is a deal-breaker for me. You could be the most gorgeous, gorgeous guy, and if you came at me with bad breath, I'm like, no. If I say, 'Breath on me,' and I have to recoil, yikes, I'm out. You could not offer me enough money."

And Kidman puts her money where her mouth is, calling out a gorgeous, gorgeous guy from her past.

"When Alexander Skarsgård ate a falafel sandwich before we did the scenes in *Big Little Lies*, I'm like, 'No, no, no, Alex. I'm meant to be into you and kissing you — put away the falafel now,'" she recalls. "I'm sure he did not eat a falafel ever again. I said, 'No more falafel. Not before you kiss, not before you make love.'"

Kidman and Skarsgård starred opposite each other in season 1 of the HBO sensation *Big Little Lies*, playing Celeste and Perry Wright, who, from the outside, look like the perfect couple and family, but Perry was constantly physically and verbally assaulting his wife. Kidman and Skarsgard managed to overcome falafel gate and both deliver Emmy-winning performances.

Kidman further revealed that she was "relieved" when she temporarily lost her sense of smell after COVID.

"Finally, I was free," she said. Unfortunately, it came back, but that has allowed Kidman to appreciate the person who she believes smells better than anyone else alive — and it's the least surprising news ever.

"Rihanna," Kidman declares. "We don't need to unwind it or decipher it, just know that it's all true. It's intoxicating, like I will follow you around. "
