As Jeff Probst stood in front of the "Survivor 50" cast on the Mamanuca beaches of Fiji last summer, looking directly at 24 contestants across the show's more than 25-year run, he was mesmerized by what his career has become since he was pitched the series decades ago.

The milestone game brought back players like Jenna Lewis-Dougherty, who played in the debut season in Borneo in 2000, and newer breakouts like Savannah Louie, who just won the season prior.

"It wasn't my life passing before my eyes. It was a series of turning points in my life," Probst says ahead of the historic three-hour Season 50 premiere on Feb. 25 (8 p.m. ET/PT, CBS and Paramount+ Premium, available to stream the next day with any Paramount+ plan). "I never thought of 'Survivor' as a job or a game show. I thought of it as an adventure of the human spirit, and people still to this day think I'm a little over the top with it. It's never changed."

A year ago, the host and producer still had a short list of 50 former players who could return. Each cut since was excruciating, he says. Ultimately, the team landed on 24 all-stars who will outwit, outplay and outlast each other for the $1 million prize and bragging rights that come with winning the show's most competitive season to date.

Jeff Probst on the historic three-hour season premiere of "Survivor 50" airing Feb. 25.

The new season, titled "Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans," is a love letter to all viewers, whether they tuned in just a few seasons ago or have watched every time since Probst first uttered, "The tribe has spoken." Probst spoke with USA TODAY about the grandiosity that only decades of reality‑TV storytelling can create. He reveals a plan for the premiere that didn't end up happening, the first player he personally called to cast and the contestant he's most crushed didn't make it.

This conversation has been edited and condensed for length and clarity.

Genevieve Mushaluk, Q Burdette, Aubry Bracco, Rizo Velovic, Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick, Kyle Fraser, Angelina Keeley and Colby Donaldson return to compete on "Survivor 50."

Season 20 premiere, which is still my favorite season, opens up with those helicopters, with the hero tribe on one side and the villains on the other. How will the Season 50 premiere compare?

We actually wanted to do helicopters for 50, but we couldn't find enough in Fiji. We even went to the Fiji military to see if we could pull it off, because we wanted to recreate that epic moment. But we were unable to do it.

But "Survivor 50" had the same gravitas that you're talking about. The question was, would the players show up to make it great? And just like in Season 20, they did.

This is the first time we're having three tribes of eight. I'm assuming we'll see two tribes go to tribal council in an episode. How much can you tell us about how this will work with so many players?

We did not initially set out to have 24 players. We thought we were going to have 20 because that's a really good number for us in terms of how the episodes work and the math that comes from eliminating players. Honestly, we were struggling to make cuts. And there was no easy cut. It was really a question of this person or that person.

Suddenly, we went to three tribes of eight. What are we going to do with all of them? How are we going to get rid of them? From a producing standpoint, that is what made it so exhilarating. There were a lot of very fun problems to solve.

We have so many interesting combinations on each tribe, like Q and Aubrey on Vatu. You have Ozzy and Cirie reuniting on Cila. How did you decide who goes on which tribe?

The best way to explain how we approached all of this was to imagine the biggest whiteboard you've ever seen, with every possible idea on it.

What we really want is just an array of different types of players, different eras, and success or lack of success in the game, so that we can represent as much as possible the entire tapestry of our 25 years. And so in that sense, we just started putting people together.

There's no combination you can look at that doesn't have intrigue. So all of the tribe pairings worked, and ultimately, at one point, we just said, "OK, shall we just stop here?"

The challenges get messy quickly for Christian Hubicki, Cirie Fields, Jenna Lewis-Dougherty, Savannah Louie and Ozzy Lusth on "Survivor 50."

There was a lot of speculation that someone from Season 1 would return. How did y'all land on Jenna Lewis specifically, and are there other names that were in the mix?

The first person I called about playing was Jenna Lewis, and I didn't know what she'd say, but everybody agreed.

She kind of embodied everything about the first season: a young mom out there who didn't get a loved one video, who played a very kind of new-era game 25 years ago, and Jenna said, "I couldn't be more honored, yes." And that was the first moment where I thought, this might work.

There are rumors of pre-gaming alliances made before the season was filmed. How does that impact things once it starts?

There's way too much emphasis put on pregame alliances and all that. They really are giving that too much weight because there is one winner, period. And if you stand in my way, it doesn't matter. I'm taking you out.

You're going to see that this season. What may start out as something that appears to be a friendship from 20 years ago might mean everything in a positive way. It might mean everything in an unexpected way. These are players. This is not a picnic.

You're working on Season 51 and possibly Season 52. Is there any chance we'll have another returning player season soon, and maybe some of the people who didn't make the cut for 50 can come back?

One hundred percent. We love returning player seasons. The only reason we waited this many years is that you had to find players you wanted to see come back.

After Season 40, we thought, now we need to go get a new crop of players, and then we'll do a returning player season. I would definitely expect another returning player season before five years. And, yes, there are players we would love to invite back that we would have had in Season 50 if we had room. Hopefully, when we call in the future, their feelings won't be hurt and they'll say yes.

Hopefully, Amanda Kimmel's schedule clears up, because I need her back.

That was a big disappointment, probably my biggest personal disappointment. When she initially said yes, I was ecstatic.

And then we gave her the shoot date, and she said, "I can't make it happen." And she was disappointed. But what I loved about Amanda is that she just called us and said, "Look, I'll tell you right now, it's not going to happen." And so that opened up the spot for somebody.

The engagement ring boasted a 2.88-carat diamond and a 2.84-carat emerald

Jackie had the ring redesigned in 1962 after JFK took office

Jackie Kennedy's engagement ring from President John F. Kennedy was ahead of its time, turning heads with a two-stone design long before toi et moi styles became a trend.

The pair were introduced in 1952 by a mutual friend and revealed their engagement the following June. To mark the occasion, JFK gave Jackie a breathtaking toi et moi ring from Van Cleef & Arpels, centered with a 2.88-carat diamond and a 2.84-carat emerald, both set on a band accented with additional diamonds and emeralds.

Jackie's sparkler started a trend for more unique ring designs, with stars like Ariana Grande and Megan Fox later following in her footsteps with their toi et moi engagement rings.

JFK and Jackie tied the knot in Newport, R.I., on Sept. 12, 1953. Their love story is briefly revisited in FX's Love Story, in which Naomi Watts plays Jackie.

Here's everything to know about Jackie Kennedy's engagement ring.

The ring featured a diamond and an emerald

Jackie's engagement ring was anything but traditional. The former first lady opted for a toi et moi — which translates to you and me in French — design that featured two stones side by side.

Jackie's ring included a 2.88-carat diamond and a 2.84-carat emerald that were both emerald cut, per Vogue. The stones were set on a band of baguette-cut emeralds and diamonds.

It was designed by Van Cleef & Arpels

Van Cleef & Arpels, a French luxury jewelry company, designed the stunning sparkler. It was reportedly worth over $1 million at the time.

On June 24, 1953, JFK and Jackie announced their engagement to the world. The details surrounding the proposal are unclear, as there are conflicting claims that JFK popped the question to Jackie at Martin's Tavern in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., and some who claim it took place at the Omni Hotel in Boston.

However, Jackie wasn't photographed with an engagement ring following their announcement.

She reportedly told the press at the time, "I haven't one yet. Jack and I have looked at dozens of them. Some I didn't like and others weren't the right type," per Brides.

JFK's father reportedly picked out Jackie's engagement ring

Like with her wedding gown, JFK's father Joseph Kennedy is reportedly the one who chose Jackie's engagement ring. He went to the Van Cleef & Arpels Fifth Avenue store in New York City and picked out the ring with the help of jeweler Louis Arpels' wife Hélène, who was a friend of Jackie's, per Vogue.

According to Vanity Fair, Arpels presented Joseph with the emerald and diamond sparkler as well as a ruby-and-diamond bracelet and a diamond leaf pin.

After discussing the quality and design of the jewelry, JFK's father allegedly asked for the pieces to be shipped to Hyannis Port, Mass., without inquiring about the cost.

Jackie later redesigned her engagement ring

In 1962, Jackie sent her ring back to Van Cleef & Arpels to be reset. The new design included 0.66 carats of round diamonds and 1.46 carats of marquise-cut diamonds that framed the two center stones, per the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum.

The flashier design was meant to reflect Jackie's new role as first lady of the United States.

"The new ring made a statement and marked Jackie's growing self-confidence personally, and in her family's role on the world stage," British Vogue's jewelry director Rachel Garrahan told Vogue of the redesign.

Stan Smith and his wacky family are back, with Season 20 of "American Dad!" premiering on Fox this weekend.

The show follows CIA agent Stan Smith and his family, who live in Langley Falls, Virginia, as they navigate familial issues and growing up. And in the case of the alien who lives in their attic, taking on new personas while snarking on those around them.

Created by Seth MacFarlane, who voices the family's patriarch and Roger the alien, the show has gained popularity partly for its musical numbers performed by the Smith family's pubescent son and Roger.

The show originally debuted on Fox in 2005 and remained part of the network until 2014, when it moved to TBS. In spring 2025, Fox announced the show would return to the network for at least four seasons.

The show is part of Fox's "Animation domination" block, where the network airs hours of adult, animated sitcoms such as "The Simpsons," "Universal Basic Guys," "Family Guy" and "Bob's Burgers" on Sundays.

Here's how to watch this upcoming season and what's to come.

The season premieres at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, Feb. 22, according to Fox. Episodes will air Sundays and can be streamed via Hulu the following day.

During the upcoming season, the family throws a pool party and finds what appears to be a rat in the pool, Fox revealed online. During another episode, Francine and Stan feud after Stan fails to show interest in flume rides, which Francine loves.

"American Dad" Executive Producer and Showrunner Matt Weitzman said in a statement to USA TODAY on Feb. 18 that the creative team is grateful they can keep producing the show.

"To work on something you love, with so many outstanding creative voices for so long is a joy," he said. "It could have been canceled more than a few times, but this silly beast just refuses to die. Um, did I jinx it?"

Hayley, Jeff, Francine, Stan, and Steve look on in horror as they spot what looks like a rat in the family pool. On the pool party's guestlist are Francine's sister and Steve's ex. The episode premieres on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026 on FOX.

Once fans saw promo for the show in December, they took to social media to share their excitement.

"Just aired on Fox during the new Simpsons tonight," wrote a Redditor on Dec. 7, sharing a clip of Stan twerking to New Orleans bounce music while Roger looked on, impressed.

A camera man stood behind Stan, capturing each ebb and flow of the CIA agent's "thunder butt" (as the ladies at work call him).

"The show's been off (FOX) for over a decade, and this is the first footage we get," the Redditor wrote. "We've never been more back."

A new day has dawned for The Night Agent.

Season 3 of Netflix's spy series premiered on Feb. 19, with Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) back in action.

In the season 2 finale, Peter was able to prevent a chemical terrorist attack in New York City, but there are more dangerous missions ahead. During season 3, Peter becomes involved in a sinister network of dark money, putting him in the crosshairs of deadly assassins and powerful political figures.

"I think he's just going to be pulled in different directions and hopefully not torn in half," Basso told Tudum in January 2025 about season 3.

As for the new episodes, The Night Agent creator Shawn Ryan said, "Peter falls in the middle of an awkward and uncomfortable place — he's between two very powerful people that may be up to no good."

The latest season of The Night Agent premiered on Feb. 19, but it hasn't been announced if Netflix will answer the call for a fourth season.

Here's what to know so far about The Night Agent season 4.

The Night Agent has not been officially renewed for season 4.

Previously, the series received an early season 3 renewal, in October 2024, months before season 2 premiered in January 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Season 4 of The Night Agent has not been announced, but Ryan is hopeful about the future of the series.

While the plot for a fourth installment has yet to be been revealed, the creator and showrunner said a writers room for new episodes was opened in 2025.

"We've been working for a while on the storyline. We have some scripts, we are breaking stories," Ryan told Deadline.

Where will The Night Agent season 4 be set?

The first season of The Night Agent was filmed in Vancouver, and production for seasons 2 and 3 moved to New York City.

Some season 2 scenes were also shot in Thailand and Washington, D.C., according to Deadline. There was also additional filming for season 3 in Istanbul, per Tudum.

In November 2025, Deadline reported that Sony Pictures Television had received a a $31.6 million California tax credit with the condition that the series relocated to Los Angeles for season 4.

According to the outlet, to use the credit, production would have to start within six months.

"I think you know from the tax credit, there's a date by which you need to be filming by; there's time for us at the moment," Ryan later told Deadline in February 2026.

Who would be in the cast of The Night Agent season 4?

Gabriel Basso in 'The Night Agent'

Yigit Eken/Netflix

The cast has not been confirmed for The Night Agent season 4, but Basso leads the series, as Peter.

For season 3, there were multiple returning cast members including Amanda Warren, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Albert Jones, Louis Herthum and Ward Horton, according to Tudum.

Music superstar Willie Colón, who helped define the salsa genre in the 1970s and '80s, died on Saturday, Feb. 21, his family confirmed on social media. He was 75.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and renowned musician, Willie Colon. He passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by his loving family," a statement shared on his Facebook page reads.

"While we grieve his absence, we also rejoice in the timeless gift of his music and the cherished memories he created that will live on forever," the statement reads. "Our family is deeply grateful for your prayers and support during this time of mourning. We kindly ask for privacy as we navigate our grief."

Throughout his career, the New York-born musician was nominated for 10 Grammy Awards and received a lifetime achievement award at the Latin Grammys in 2004.

He collaborated with music icons, including Héctor Lavoe and Celia Cruz. Alongside Rubén Blades, he recorded the 1978 album "Siembra," the best-selling salsa album of all time.

Legendary musician Willie Colon arrives at the BMI's 13th Annual Latin Awards at the 18th Street Pavilion on April 7, 2006, in New York City.

Born in the South Bronx of New York City in 1950 and raised in a Puerto Rican household, Colón took to music at an early age, learning to play the trumpet and trombone. By the time he was a teenager, he landed a record deal with Fania Records and released his debut album, "El Malo," in 1967 before turning 18.

Aside from music, he was a proud activist who was appointed a representative advisor to former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg and a liaison to the New York City Latin Media & Entertainment Commission in 2003, a role he served for over a decade.

Colón was also a member of the Latino Commission on AIDS and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, as well as the ASCAP national board, becoming the first person of color to join.

He also made time for acting with roles in films like 1982's "Vigilante," 1983's "The Last Fight" and 1994's "It Could Happen to You." On television, he guest-starred as a drug dealer in a 1987 episode of "Miami Vice" and played himself on a 1992 episode of "The Cosby Show."

"From those roots grew a profound devotion to culture, heritage, and truth. He did not simply represent his community; he amplified it," Craft Recordings said in a statement shared with USA TODAY. "Beyond music, Willie was a voice for his community — an activist and a public servant. He understood that rhythm could move people, but also hearts—and that songs could spark change."

With over 40 albums, he captivated listeners with his portrayal of the Puerto Rican experience.

Last year, he appeared in the music video for Bad Bunny's "Nuevayol," off the Super Bowl headliner's Grammy-winning album "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS."
