Jessica Vosk, who played Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway, is "proud" of the new generation of Wicked stars.

Speaking with PEOPLE at the opening night of Every Brilliant Thing in New York City on Thursday, March 12, the 42-year-old singer and actress answered whether she had seen the Wicked and Wicked: For Good films.

"Of course," she replied. "Absolutely stunning, especially the first movie."

She then explained that she became "very close" with Ariana Grande, who played Glinda in film franchise, while she was performing for Wicked's 15th anniversary.

"She wanted this so badly, and I remember when she called and told me she booked it, and I was beside myself for her," Vosk said. "I had a chance to go visit her in London when she was shooting. She loves it so much and you can tell."

"I mean, both performances, Cynthia Erivo [as Elphaba] included, beyond fantastic," the Hell's Kitchen actress continued. "So, watching her up there is like, I don't know, I'm like a little proud auntie or something."

Vosk famously charmed audiences as Elphaba at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City in 2018 and 2019. Before that, she worked at a boutique investor relations firm.

"I get a lot of advice questions about, 'Well, how did you take a leap?' I still get scared. I get so scared, I'm like pee-my-pants scared about Carnegie Hall," Vosk told PEOPLE in 2021.

During the pandemic, she also enrolled in virtual real estate school as a possible back-up plan.

"My parents hated when I left my finance job [at first]. They thought it was the biggest mistake of my life. I still did it and I don't regret it. It was tough at the time," she explained.

"I've done things for other people," Vosk added. "I wind up so battered in the end because it's not what I wanted. When it comes to actually following your heart and what it is that you love, do it. You will regret it at the end of the day if you don't."
