Engaged couple Alexandra Warren and KB White were surprised by Zendaya and Law Roach at a wedding dress appointment in New York City on Feb. 9

Roach helped Warren pick out her dream gown, and Zendaya paid for it

"To have such an important garment not only be signed off on by a stylist I've admired forever but paid for by an artist I admire felt like a dream come true," Warren tells PEOPLE

When engaged couple Alexandra Warren and KB White answered a casting call to receive a wedding dress opportunity ahead of the release of A24's The Drama, they saw it as a fun chance for Warren to start looking at dresses for their wedding next year. They never expected Law Roach to help style her himself, and were even more astounded when Zendaya arrived to celebrate them and pay for the gown.

"We were completely surprised," White tells PEOPLE, adding, "We are still in disbelief at their generosity."

The appointment at Mark Ingram Atelier in New York City on Monday, Feb. 9, began with just Warren, 30, and White, 34, and their bridal consultant, Mckenzie Salvatierra-Custin. White spotted the actress, 29, and her longtime stylist, 47, first and was "shocked."

"I knew Alex would freak out since she loves their work and really adores their styles," White recalls. "I couldn't wait to see her reaction."

For The Drama press tour, Zendaya has teased bridal-themed fashion. Roach styled her in the same silky Vivienne Westwood gown she previously wore to the 2015 Academy Awards to represent "something old" at the March 17 Los Angeles premiere, a custom Louis Vuitton gown for "something new" at the March 24 Paris premiere, and Cate Blanchett's Giorgio Armani Privé black gown for "something borrowed" at the March 26 Rome premiere. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see what the duo potentially have in store for "something blue" next.

When Roach walked in, Warren couldn't believe it.

"I felt like I was floating!" she says. "I wish I had three hours to discuss style with him."

Roach spent about an hour helping the brides narrow down which wedding dress Warren should buy. Warren says that when Zendaya joined them at the end for roughly 30 minutes to discuss their wedding and her movie, it "just felt unreal."

"It felt so good that they were both so excited to help me with this milestone decision," Warren tells PEOPLE.

Warren said "yes to the dress" after getting Roach and Zendaya's stamp of approval. Although Warren and White were admittedly "worried about price" because the "gorgeous" gown was "expensive" and "totally out of [their] budget," Zendaya took care of it.

"After both Law and Zendaya confirmed that they loved the dress I was wearing, Zendaya said, 'By the way, it's covered,' " Warren explains. "KB and I were genuinely confused and asked what she meant, and she said she was paying for it. We literally gasped!"

White adds, "When Zendaya said she was paying for it, I felt so grateful. We work as public interest lawyers, so we are very conscious of our wedding planning finances. Zendaya saw how important it is for Alex to have this gorgeous dress. I cannot wait to see Alex in this dress on our wedding day."

The entire experience was a "dream come true" for Warren.

"I've always loved fashion and gowns and always thought I'd want to look beautiful for special moments in my life. To have such an important garment not only be signed off on by a stylist I've admired forever but paid for by an artist I admire felt like a dream come true," the bride-to-be says. "I still can't believe it! I want to wear it every day for the rest of my life."Zendaya, who is speculated to have secretly wed Tom Holland, even gave the couple marriage advice."Zendaya told us that her film focuses on a couple who have a lot of drama in their wedding planning. She told us to be calm and work together to plan the best event, and her generous gift would only help with cutting down on stress," Warren says.

They shared an office, and over time a spark ignited between them. Warren eventually worked up the courage to ask out her co-worker crush, and soon after their first date at a Bed–Stuy bar about two years ago, the pair "knew it was forever.""We are co-workers to friends to lovers," White says.

The pair designed each other's engagement rings in fall 2025."We weren't sure how to propose because we do so many little romantic gestures, it was hard to think of something even bigger. We recently moved into our first apartment together, so one morning we decided we couldn't wait any longer. We made tea in our favorite mugs and gave each other our rings on our couch," White shares, with Warren noting, "It was so casual, romantic, and so, so us."

The couple will tie the knot next year in an intimate courthouse ceremony in New York City in the fall, then celebrate with a "big party" with friends. They encourage any wedding vendors who "would love to help a queer couple have the most magical day" to reach out.

The Drama hits theaters on Friday, April 3.
