Jewelry experts share their predictions on the ring's details, from the estimated cost to its carat count, with PEOPLE
Halle Berry and Van Hunt are getting their happily ever after.
The couple is officially engaged after five years of dating, and the actress, 59, was not shy about flashing her new sparkler for the nation while announcing the exciting relationship news on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
During her Feb. 5 appearance, the Oscar winner (who's been married three times, to David Justice, Eric Benét and Olivier Martinez, in that order) revealed her "little ring," which actually isn't so little at all. Experts tell PEOPLE that Hunt popped the question with a ring estimated to feature multiple diamonds on a unique, but personal design.
PEOPLE reached out to three fine jewelry experts to get a predicted breakdown of Berry's new band. What we know: It was made with love, it's a sparkly cluster of diamonds and it likely has an eye-catching price tag.
The ring design is unique and 'deeply personal'
Hunt's proposal was years in the making and was actually put on an indefinite hold after he first tried to court Berry for marriage in June 2025. Let's just say, the ring was well worth the wait.
Chau Lui, co-founder of CELI, tells PEOPLE that she believes the ring "reflects several modern trends," but is still unique and "deeply personal."
Kegan Fisher, the CEO and co-founder of Frank Darling (a brand that's been worn by Lola Tung and Olivia Rodrigo), co-signs on the "architectural interpretation of modern maximalism."

"With its use of negative space, geometric forms, and the confident mix of diamonds and sapphires, it feels very much of the moment—and perhaps ahead of it," Fisher says of the piece, adding that it points toward a 2026 trend of brides-to-be wearing "never seen before" engagement rings.

"We've seen a strong push toward sculptural asymmetry over the past few years, and I'd love to see that evolve into even bolder, architectural forms like this."
The founder of Marrow Fine, Jillian Sassone, agrees that Berry's one-of-a-kind ring will set the course for dramatic settings. "It's one of those rings that immediately stands out. We're seeing a move towards maximalism, and this is a true statement piece that is bold, non-traditional, and feels very her."
It features over a dozen diamonds and one center stone
Liu believes that the center stone, a bezel cut diamond estimated to weigh around 2 carats, is surrounded by over 20 colored diamonds and precious gemstones set in an "architectural" arrangement on timeless yellow gold. "We've been seeing many rings with multiple stones and a cluster of diamonds set in very unique ways," she explains.

Fisher says the main attraction diamond could be worth up to 3 carats. She believes the design boasts a two-tone bezel with a platinum bathtub-style basket accented with Ceylon or Burmese sapphires. "It's a natural fit given her long-standing love of gold and colored gemstones."
The cost could be upwards of $200,000
"Rings in this design category, typically range in the high five figures, and if there are colored diamonds, the price can by significantly higher, depending on total carat weight, stone quality and craftsmanship," says Liu, who prices the ring at over $100,000. Because of its craftsmanship and its stone count, Fisher estimates the setting alone might be worth $200,000.
