The high school musical romance *Grease* hand-jived its way into theaters during the summer of 1978. An adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, which premiered in 1972, *Grease* stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson, an American greaser and an Australian good girl who meet and enjoy a summer fling, only to find themselves enrolled at the same Los Angeles high school in the fall. Set in the late-‘50s, the music tells the story of postwar teen angst in all its poodle-skirted, greased-hair glory.

Before he donned Danny Zuko's leather jacket, John Travolta was already a bona fide star thanks to his roles as Vinnie Barbarino on *Welcome Back, Kotter*, Billy Nolan in *Carrie* (1976), and Tony Manero in *Saturday Night Fever* (1977) — for which he received his first Academy Award nomination. Following the juggernaut success of the film, Travolta's next hit came with 1980's *Urban Cowboy*.

*Pulp Fiction* (1994), directed by Quentin Tarantino, sparked Travolta's career resurgence, earning him his second Oscar nomination in the process. He has gone on to star in several hit films since, including *Get Shorty* (1995), *Face/Off* (1997), and *Primary Colors* (1998), as well as a return to movie musicals with his performance as Edna Turnblad in the 2007 remake of *Hairspray*.

In 2012, Travolta reunited with Olivia Newton-John for their holiday album *This Christmas*, and, in 2016, he received his first Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Robert Shapiro in FX's *The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story*.

Travolta made his directorial debut in 2026 with the family adventure film *Propeller One-Way Night Coach*, which was adapted from a children's novel he published in 1997. He appears in the movie, as does his daughter, Ella Bleu. The film premiered at Cannes, where Travolta was given an honorary Palme d’Or, much to his surprise.

Travolta was married to the late Kelly Preston from 1991 until her death from breast cancer in July 2020. The couple had three children together: Jett, who died from a seizure in 2009, Ella Bleu, and Benjamin.

Olivia Newton-John (Sandy Olsson)

Already a Grammy-winning recording artist and country music star when she was cast as good-girl-gone-bad Sandy, Olivia Newton-John's career rose to greater heights after the movie became the biggest box office hit of 1978. Thanks to her soundtrack contributions, "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "Summer Nights," she became the second woman to have two singles in the *Billboard* top five at the same time. In addition to the box office and *Billboard* success brought on by the musical, her performance in *Grease *also landed her a Golden Globe nomination.

Inspired by her climactic transformation into "Bad Sandy," Newton-John revamped her sound and image for her next album, *Totally Hot*, to add more of a Pink Ladies edge. Her big screen follow-up, *Xanadu* (1980) — costarring Gene Kelly — was a critical and commercial failure, but produced a hit soundtrack and a slew of top 20 singles, including "Magic," which spent five weeks at No. 1 on the charts. The movie musical was also where she met her first husband, Matt Lattanzi, and in 1986, gave birth to their daughter, Chloe Rose.

In 1981, she released *Physical*, the biggest album of her career. The risqué title track ruled the *Billboard* Hot 100 for 10 weeks, and its tongue-in-cheek, aerobics-inspired music video became an MTV staple. She went on to record 15 more studio albums, achieving a career total of 26, and selling more than 100 million units worldwide.

In 1992, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and became a tireless advocate for cancer research throughout the rest of her life, founding the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Australia. She was "hopelessly devoted" to philanthropic works, including a stint as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Program. Her cancer returned in 2013 and 2017, and on Aug. 8, 2022, her husband John Easterling announced the icon's death at the age of 73.

Stockard Channing (Betty Rizzo)

By the time she was cast as high school bad girl Rizzo, Stockard Channing had already amassed an impressive list of stage and screen credits, including a starring turn opposite Warren Beatty and Jack Nicholson in Mike Nichols' *The Fortune* (1975).

Channing reteamed with Nicholson and Nichols (as well as Meryl Streep) for the film *Heartburn *(1986), based on Nora Ephron's best-selling novel. She continued to work onstage as well, earning a Tony award in 1985 for Best Actress in a Play for Peter Nichols' *A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, *and nominations for her work in *The House of Blue Leaves,* *Six Degrees of Separation*,* Four Baboons Adoring the Sun, The Lion in Winter, Pal Joey*, and *Other Dessert Cities*.

In 1993, she reprised the role of Louisa "Ouisa" Kittredge for the film version of *Six Degrees* and received both Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for her performance. She worked steadily through the '90s before joining the cast of the celebrated drama *The West Wing* in 1999 — which brought her six Emmy nominations and one win. She went on to win one more Emmy for the made-for-television movie *The Matthew Shepard Story* in 2002, which also earned her a Screen Actors Guild award.

Channing has continued to appear on both stage and screen, and played a recurring role on the CBS drama *The Good Wife* until 2016. She will reprise her role as Aunt Franny in *Practical Magic 2*, which will arrive in September 2026.

She has been married and divorced four times, and was in a long-term relationship with cinematographer Daniel Gillham until his death in 2014.

Jeff Conaway (Kenickie)

Kenickie, the T-Birds second-in-command, was brought to the screen by Jeff Conaway. He appeared in the original cast of *Grease* on Broadway, serving as an understudy for several of the roles, eventually taking over the part of Danny Zuko. Conaway followed his time on the Great White Way with guest-star turns on a number of television shows before joining the cast of the *Grease *film and becoming a series regular on the sitcom *Taxi*.

After three seasons on *Taxi*, and two Golden Globe nominations, Conaway left the hit show due to both creative differences with the producers and his struggles with drug use on set. Throughout the rest of the '80s and early '90s, he primarily worked in guest spots on TV and small supporting parts in films*, *until he booked the role of Zack Allan on *Babylon 5* from 1994 to 1999.

Conaway relapsed from substance abuse in the mid-2000s and turned up on reality TV as a star of the VH1 shows *Celebrity Fit Club* and *Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. *Conaway died in May of 2011 from complications of pneumonia.

Didi Conn (Frenchy)

Didi Conn, born Edith Bernstein, is the only cast member to appear in all three screen adaptations of *Grease*,* *having also appeared in 1982's *Grease 2*, and Fox's *Grease: Live!* (2016).

After her turn as beauty school dropout Frenchy in the original 1978 film, she went on to star in television shows like *The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang*,* Benson*, and the PBS series *Shining Time Station* *— *alongside Ringo Starr, and, later, George Carlin. Conn has appeared on series such as *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit*, *Transparent*, and *Blue Bloods*. She competed on the hit British series *Dancing on Ice *in 2019, but was eliminated in week four. She currently appears on the Fox medical dramedy series *Best Medicine.*

After her son David was diagnosed with autism at an early age, she became an outspoken advocate for autism awareness, and, in 2008, she was named the National Celebrity Spokesperson for Autism Speaks. She has been married to her second husband, David Shire, since 1982.

The daughter of screenwriter Arnold Manoff and Oscar- and Emmy-winning actress/director Lee Grant, Dinah Manoff played Marty Maraschino, the Pink Ladies' biggest flirt. Following the success of *Grease* and a yearlong stint on the ABC sitcom *Soap* in 1978, she went on to win a Tony award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play in 1980 for Neil Simon's *I Ought to Be in Pictures*. She stayed busy for the rest of the '80s, starring in the film version of the play, as well as parts in *Ordinary People *(1980) and the horror movie *Child's Play* (1988).

In 1988, she booked the lead role of Carol Weston in the NBC spinoff of *The Golden Girls*, *Empty Nest. *She costarred on the sitcom alongside Richard Mulligan and Kristy McNichol, and was featured in every episode of its seven-season run.

Manoff has three children with her second husband, Arthur Mortell. After her oldest son, Dashiell, tragically died in a car accident in 2017, she began teaching acting at the Purdy Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor, Wash., as a way to deal with her grief. In 2021, she released her first novel, *The Real True Hollywood Story of Jackie Gold,* through Star Alley Press.

Barry Pearl (Doody)

Frenchy's troublemaking boyfriend, Doody, was portrayed by Barry Pearl, who performed in the first national tour of *Grease* prior to joining the cast of the film. In the years since, he has built a long list of guest star credits on TV shows like *Alfred Hitchcock Presents*, *Baywatch*, *Beverly Hills, 90210**,* and *Even Stevens. *Pearl and his onscreen love interest Didi Conn are the only two cast members from the 1978 film to appear in *Grease: Live! *in 2016. Kelly Ward brought the youngest member of the T-Birds, Putzie, to life in a role specifically created for the film. *Grease* wasn't his first time working with costar John Travolta, as the two worked together on 1976's made-for-television movie *The Boy in the Plastic Bubble. *Five years later — after a handful of TV appearances on shows like *M*A*S*H*, *The Waltons*, and *Magnum, P.I. —* Ward retired from acting on camera.

He has become a voice/dialogue director for Disney Television Animation and a screenwriter for numerous cartoons, including the feature film *All Dogs Go to Heaven 2* (1996). Jan, the nerdy, junk food-loving member of the Pink Ladies, was played by Jamie Donnelly, who originated the part on Broadway, and was the only cast member to play the same role in both the stage musical and film. Prior to *Grease*, she also starred in the premiere New York and Los Angeles productions of *The Rocky Horror Show* alongside Tim Curry.

After the success of the movie, Donnelly took an almost 20-year break from acting, working as a theatrical coach in the Los Angeles area. She returned to the profession in the late '90s and has appeared on series like *Monk*, *Veep*, and *Ray Donovan*, as well as the feature films *Cyrus *(2010) with Marisa Tomei, *Black Mass** *(2015) with Johnny Depp, and *Stationed at Home* (2025).

Before her breakout role as Patty Simcox — Rydell High's perky, do-good cheerleader — in *Grease*, Susan Buckner held the title of Miss Washington in 1971 and competed for her state at the following year's Miss America competition. She later joined the Golddiggers (an all-female performance troupe featured on *The Dean Martin Show*) and made appearances on various shows like *Sonny and Cher* and *The Brady Bunch Variety Hour*.

- Hayley Erbert Hough shares how she changed her perspective on her healing journey.

- The professional dancer suffered a life-threatening brain bleed while on tour in 2023.

- "I decided to just be like, 'Okay, what can I do to progress? What can I do to get better? How can I get on that stage?'" she said.

Hayley Erbert Hough says she had to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative thoughts surrounding her health and future after undergoing an emergency craniectomy in December 2023.

The *Dancing With the Stars* alum told PEOPLE that she had to shift her entire mindset to focus on the parts of her life that she could control while recovering from the life-threatening brain bleed.

"I could sit here and just cry, 'Why me? Why did this happen to me?'" the 31-year-old told the outlet at the Tribeca Festival premiere of her film, *Symphony of Dance.* "But I decided to just be like, 'Okay, what can I do to progress? What can I do to get better? How can I get on that stage?'"

The professional dancer was hospitalized on Dec. 6, 2023, after becoming disoriented while performing on the Washington, D.C., stop of the* Symphony of Dance* tour with her husband, *DWTS* pro-turned-judge Derek Hough. She was diagnosed with an intracranial hematoma (a collection of blood underneath the skull) from a burst blood vessel and subsequently underwent a craniectomy that removed a portion of her skull to treat the condition.

Erbert Hough credited a member of her medical team with helping to change her perspective on her healing journey.

"A doctor actually said to me, 'There's gonna be a lot of things throughout this journey that you can't control, so control the things that you can,’” she recalled. “And for me, that was mindset.”

From then on, Erbert Hough explained that she made sure to prioritize showing up for those near and dear to her. “How can I be better for my family and my husband and my friends?” she asked. “So I just instantly went to: ‘What can I control?’ And that's the way I think.”

Erbert Hough would go on to dance again, completing her and Derek’s *Symphony of Dance* tour just five months after her hospitalization in May 2024. Speaking with PEOPLE, Hough recalled that he "completely forgot all the routines" at their first dance rehearsal back, but that his wife still knew them by heart.

"She was like, 'It's okay, honey. I got this.' And I looked at her and I kind of said, 'You've been practicing, haven't you?'" he said. “And she's like, 'Yeah, I was laying in the hospital and I was going over the routines. I was imagining, I was envisioning being back on stage.'"

Up until that point, the six-time Mirrorball champ admitted that he’d been feeling resentful towards dance until they took to the stage.

"I felt the push and pull, the ebb and flow that you feel when you're dancing with somebody. That moment, my heart just opened back up to dance in a bigger way than ever," he said. "Being able to dance with her, it's so special."

Erbert Hough added, “I’m so grateful to be here and I'm so grateful for my health and my body to allow me to be there."

- Offerman now waits until he receives offers for projects that make him think, "I have to do this."

Nick Offerman doesn't want to play the same character over and over again.

The *Margo's Got Money Troubles* star reflected on his *Parks and Recreation* character, Ron Swanson, casting a shadow over his career after the hit NBC sitcom ended in 2015.

"I said, 'The one thing I don't want to do is more Ron Swanson,'" the actor told *Variety* in a new interview. "I think that I've done that, and happily so. All these offers came in of, 'OK, this isn't Ron Swanson, but he's an ex-Marine and he's great at grilling.' I was like, 'That's Ron Swanson.'"

Offerman said that he made intentional efforts to create distance between himself and his most iconic character. "So I told my agents, 'Let's create some daylight and I'm just going to work at my wood shop for a while,'" he remembered.

Offerman previously lamented the ever-presence of Ron Swanson in an interview with *The Guardian* in 2023. "People don't want to allow [you] to play Atticus Finch, or Polonius," he said. "They're like: 'No, no, you're Ron Swanson.' So even when I got some attention, earlier this year, for an episode of *The Last of Us*, there was a portion of people obstinately saying: 'No, that's still Ron. It's prepper Ron. It's gay Ron. You'll never not be Ron.'"

In his conversation with *Variety*, the actor explained that he's much more selective about the roles he accepts nowadays. "I started this rule that I generally still adhere to: If I get offered something and I can say no to it, I do," Offerman said. "So, most of what I do, I'm thinking, 'I have to do this.' It speaks to me in some way, or it's right or inspiring."

Offerman said that he feels more fulfilled when the right projects fall into his lap, rather than when he's actively seeking out his next part. "What I've learned is the best thing to do is not look for it, because what much greater artistic minds than my own find to do with me is not something I can concoct," he said. "I just hope that they'll keep finding me."

The actor also said that a major part of his decision-making process comes from coordinating his schedule with his wife, actress Megan Mullally, as they try to never spend more than two weeks apart from each other.

"We spend a lot of time negotiating the logistics of our lives so that we simply stay married," Offerman explained. "We feel very lucky that we feel that way. After the first day or two, I think any couple would say, 'Great, we could all use a breather.' But then, in reality, you get to day three, and we just need to be together."

He continued, "So, when we get back together after two weeks, it's a great relief. It's coming out of the desert to a nice chug of water."

*Home Improvement* was built on the flimsiest of jokes, quite literally a series of grunts, but the ABC sitcom emerged as one of the '90s most-watched shows.

Tim Allen, best known at the time for his stand-up comedy, starred as Tim Taylor, the tool- and car-obsessed husband to Jill (Patricia Richardson) and father to Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), and Mark (Taran Noah Smith). The series, which ran for eight seasons and racked up dozens of Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, balanced Tim's life at home with *Tool Time*, a show within the show about, you guessed it, home improvement.

*Home Improvement* — which was on the air from 1991-1999 — has yet to get a reboot or revival in the manner of contemporaries like *Full House*, *Frasier*, and *Mad About You*, but that's not for lack of trying. "One of the conversations we've had recently is how weird it would be if *Home Improvement* would be about the kids' kids," Allen said in a 2023 interview with the Messenger. "Like if all of them had children, and I'm a grandparent. *Home Re-Improvement* or something like that. It's come up."

But Allen seems to have given up on his dreams of a revival, primarily due to Bryan's legal troubles as an adult. "They keep talking about how it could move forward, but they get stuck [because] there are some personality problems right now with the boys," Allen told *Us Weekly* in June 2026. "They’ve got their own issues. I always thought it would be cool if it was a story about them. That’s a little challenging right now, to put it mildly."

Regardless, now's as good a time as any to check in on where the cast of *Home Improvement* is now.

Tim Allen, a stand-up comedian, had barely any acting credits to his name when he stepped into the role of man's man TV host Tim Taylor on *Home Improvement*, for which he won a Golden Globe in 1995. That makes it that much more surprising how ubiquitous a presence he's been on both TV and film.

He's been at the head of two major franchises, voicing Buzz Lightyear in Pixar's *Toy Story* franchise (1995–present) and playing reluctant Santa Claus Scott Calvin in three *Santa Clause* movies (1994–2006) and a TV series. Allen has also led films like *Christmas With the Cranks* (2004), *The Shaggy Dog* (2006), and *Wild Hogs* (2007), as well as the enduring cult classic *Galaxy Quest* (1999), which could still get a sequel.

From 2011 to 2021, he starred on the ABC sitcom *Last Man Standing* as Mike Baxter, an executive at a Denver sporting goods store. His latest collab with the network is *Shifting Gears*, a series about an auto shop owner that also stars Kat Dennings and Seann William Scott. Soon, he'll reprise Buzz for the much-anticipated *Toy Story 5*.

Allen was married to Laura Deibel from 1984 to 2003, and the pair have a daughter who was born in 1989. He is currently married to actress Jane Hajduk, with whom he has a daughter born in 2009.

For her performance as Taylor matriarch Jill Taylor, Broadway and small-screen veteran Patricia Richardson received four Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations.

Following *Home Improvement*, she led the Lifetime medical drama* Strong Medicine* and recurred on *The West Wing* as Sheila Brooks, the first campaign manager of Alan Alda's Arnold Vinick. Most recently, she had guest turns on *The Blacklist*, *Grey's Anatomy*, and Allen's *Shifting Gears*.

In a 2024 interview with the *Los Angeles Times*, Richardson claimed that Disney, who owns ABC, wanted a ninth season of the sitcom, but that she was ready for it to end. "I told everybody, 'There's not enough money in the world to get me to do a ninth year.' This show is over. It needs to end."

She did, however, offer "a little bit of a flip-off" to Disney, who owns ABC, by asking them to pay her the same $2 million fee Allen was slated to receive for each episode. “I knew that Disney would in no way pay me that much," she said. "I'd been there all this time, and they never even paid me a third of what Tim was making, and I was working my ass off. I was a big reason why women were watching."

Last year, she also addressed the prospect of a *Home Improvement* reunion on the *Back to the Best* podcast, saying neither she nor Thomas had been contacted about it.

"I wrote a big thing on Twitter and said I'm not involved in any series with Jill and I've also never even been asked to do another *Home Improvement* reunion thing, but I would not want to," she said.**

Zachery Ty Bryan (Brad Taylor)

Zachery Ty Bryan chased his role as Brad, the eldest Taylor, with a succession of guest roles on popular series like *Boston Public*, *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, *Smallville*, *Veronica Mars*, and *Burn Notice*. He also memorably took a spear to the groin in 1999's *The Rage: Carrie 2*. He eventually moved into producing, starting a production company called Vision Entertainment Group.

Speaking with EW in 2011, he said, ”Most people look at child actors and have these ideas that they have a rough life. To be honest, I’ve looked at it as such an opportunity. Even moving forward with what I’m doing now, I walk into a room with a hedge funder and I’m immediately validated. I don’t have to sit there and explain what my background is. They see it in front of them.”

In the years since, Bryan has had several run-ins with the law, including allegations of domestic violence, driving under the influence, and financial fraud. In early 2026, he was sentenced to 16 months in a California prison after pleading guilty to a felony DUI charge. He was later sentenced to 19 months in an Oregon prison for parole violations.

"I don't know what's going on with him," Allen said of his former onscreen son in an interview with *The Hollywood Reporter *in 2023. "Zach is a great kid who has grown into a complex man. All you can do is step aside and let somebody go through their process. At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know to somebody who is reacting to situations that I had nothing to do with and can't control. I don't know what happens when people get corrupted. You just don't know."

Richardson cited Bryan's troubles as one of the reasons she wouldn't be interested in a *Home Improvement* reunion. "I mean, Zach is now a felon," she said on the *Back to the Best* podcast.

*Home Improvement *helped turn Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who played middle child Randy Taylor, into one of the '90s biggest teen idols. In addition to voicing the young version of Simba in 1994's *The Lion King*, he starred in films like *Man of the House* (1995), *Wild America* (1997), and *I'll Be Home for Christmas* (1998).

After *Home Improvement*'s bow, he lost interest in Hollywood and wanted to focus on his education. According to PEOPLE, he hit the books at Harvard, Columbia, and St. Andrew’s University in Scotland.**** "I've been going to school, and traveling quite a bit, getting to read a lot of books I’ve wanted to for quite some time," he told EW in 2011. "I think at this point, I'd eventually like to work behind the camera. That's not to say I would never act again, I'm not quite sure to be honest. I still have a passion for TV and film could see myself working in it."

He didn't completely forsake acting, though, appearing in episodes of *Smallville* (2002–2004), *The Simpsons* (2003), *8 Simple Rules* (2004), and *Veronica Mars* (2005). In 2013, he reunited with his former onscreen dad on Allen's *Last Man Standing*.**

Taran Noah Smith, who played the Taylor's youngest son, Mark, quit acting after his eight seasons on *Home Improvement.*

Following his stint on the sitcom, he claimed his parents squandered the trust fund he built up, but later denied this. "I'd gotten out of the teenage phase and realized my parents weren't doing anything wrong but were trying to protect me," he told the *Marin Independent Journal* in 2015.

Smith also made headlines after marrying 30-year-old Heidi Van Pelt when he was just 17. The couple launched a vegan cheese brand before divorcing in 2007.

These days, you may see Smith piloting a submarine around Monterey Bay. According to *SFGate*, he teaches people to operate subs with the Berkeley-based Community Submersibles. "We want to be able to help people with the true beauty and wonder that is under the ocean at all times," he told *SFGate*.

On a recent episode of *The Best Show With Tom Scharpling* podcast, he discussed Mark's out-of-nowhere goth phase in the later seasons of *Home Improvement*. "The whole storyline of the older brothers beating up on me or teasing me didn't really work anymore because now I was taller than both of them," he explained.

"I found out later the head writer on the show, he had a son that was right around my age," he continued, adding, "and after about halfway through the season, I'm in wardrobe, black fingernails, and dog collar and all the stuff on, and I went backstage and came face to face with his son, who was not in wardrobe, but looked just like me, and we had this very awkward moment of like, 'Oh, I'm your dad's way of kind of dealing with you, sorry.'"

Richard Karn (Al)

Richard Karn appeared in all eight seasons of *Home Improvement* as Al, Tim's plaid-clad, no-nonsense *Tool Time* cohost.

He stayed busy in the years following the show's bow, appearing in films (*Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch, Air Buddies*) and TV series (*Recess, That '70s Show*). He also carved out a hosting career on* Family Feud*, *Bingo America*, and *Assembly Required*.

In recent years, he appeared as kindhearted dad Fred on Hulu's excellent *PEN15* (2019–2021) and played himself on an episode of *Detroiters* (2017) alongside Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson. He also appeared opposite Allen in a 2025 episode of *Shifting Gears*.

”That was eight years of my life,” Karn told EW during our *Home Improvement* reunion in 2011. ”I want to keep mementos. The first year they were putting me in these Ralph Lauren shirts that cost $115, but they didn’t look as good as the $15 and $20 ones that came right off the rack.”**

Debbe Dunning appeared as *Tool Time*'s resident Tool Girl on seasons 3 through 8 of *Home Improvement* (1993–1998). Following her stint on the sitcom, she appeared in the films *The Spiral Staircase *(2000) and *Now You Know* (2002).

"Tim is amazing and a man of his word,” Dunning told EW in 2011. ”If anyone got upset or threatened to quit, he went after them and they’d be back. He always kept us together.”

Dunning has three children with Olympic volleyball player Steve Timmons. She posts regularly on her Instagram account.**

Earl Hindman (Wilson Wilson Jr.)

After a rich career that included roles in two excellent '70s thrillers — *The Parallax View* (1974) and *The Taking of Pelham One Two Three* (1974) — Earl Hindman scored the role of Wilson, the Taylor's wise (and facially obscured) neighbor, on *Home Improvement*, appearing in 203 episodes of the series.

Hindman only acted in a few projects following *Home Improvement*, including episodes of *Law & Order* and *Law & Order: Criminal Intent*. He died of lung cancer in 2003 at the age of 61.

In 2021, Allen paid tribute to Hindman (and Wilson) on an episode of *Last Man Standing*. "Earl meant the world to me and everyone at *Home Improvement*. It was an organic moment to settle on, both on the set and in our hearts," he told EW at the time.**

Pamela Anderson (Lisa)

Before becoming one of the most-discussed celebrities of the '90s, Pamela Anderson went from being a *Playboy* Playmate to a recurring role as Lisa, *Tool Time*'s first Tool Girl.

She left the series after scoring a leading role on *Baywatch*, in which she played crystal-coveting New Age lifeguard C.J. Parker. *Barb Wire* (1996) was meant to launch her film career, but the dystopian action flick flopped. She found further success on television, though, leading the action-comedy* V.I.P.* and the animated series *Striperella*.

In the mid-'90s, stolen personal videos depicting sex between Anderson and her then-husband, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, circulated online, resulting in a legal battle between Anderson and the video distribution company that posted the video to their website. The ordeal was depicted in Hulu's 2022 series *Pam & Tommy*, which was made without Anderson's involvement.

Anderson made headlines in 2023 after alleging that Allen flashed her on the set of *Home Improvement *in 1991. "I walked out of my dressing room, and Tim was in the hallway in his robe," Anderson wrote in her memoir, *Love, Pamela*. "He opened his robe and flashed me quickly — completely naked underneath. He said it was only fair, because he had seen me naked. *Now we're even*. I laughed uncomfortably." (Allen denied the accusation.)

She continued, "It was the first of many bizarre encounters where people felt they knew me enough to make absolute fools out of themselves."

In 2024, Anderson received acclaim for her performance as an aging Vegas showgirl in Gia Coppola's *The Last Showgirl**, *scoring a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. Anderson went on to star in *The Naked Gun* (2025) with Liam Neeson, and, according to *Deadline*, will star in Michael Cera's upcoming directorial debut.**

Abby Howard shared details about her miscarriage at 17 weeks during an appearance on The Squeeze podcast

She described the experience of delivering her baby as emotionally challenging and similar to a live birth

Abby Howard is sharing more about the loss of her third baby.

The influencer, who is currently pregnant with her fourth baby, appeared on The Squeeze podcast on Wednesday, June 10, and spoke with co-hosts Tay Lautner and Taylor Lautner about her experience having a miscarriage in September.

Abby began by saying that everything about her third pregnancy felt "perfect" and that she felt great.

"Everything was textbook. I had gone through [pregnancy] twice before, and everything was very similar," she said. "And then I went to my 17-week appointment and actually brought my whole, like, both of our sons went and Matt was there."

Abby said it was a "fluke" that her entire family was with her that day since her doctor's appointments had become pretty routine. But it was lucky they were there, since Abby went on to hear some devastating news.

"The nurse couldn't find the baby's heartbeat at 17 weeks. And the doctor came in, and she couldn't find it either," she recalled. "And she was like, 'Sometimes babies do this, like, this might be the positioning thing. We're just gonna take you in for an ultrasound really quick.' They take me in, and we can see our baby is just really still, and there's no cardiac activity at all."

At that point, the ultrasound tech turned to Abby and told her that she didn't have good news.

"And I think in that moment, it's like really hard to describe that feeling. Even now, I just feel like I couldn't feel the weight of what had just happened and what she was telling me," Abby said.

"I had heard a lot of conversation about what early miscarriage looks like," she continued. "I had no frame of reference for what it looked like at this point."

Abby had to return to the hospital the next day to start the process of induction so she could have the miscarriage.

"And I always say that delivering our daughter was just...it was so eerily similar to, like, a live birth. You're in the same unit as everyone else that's having babies that are alive," she recalled. "They have like an incubator across from you that you just know that you're not gonna use."

"There's no fetal monitoring of any kind. It's just an experience that you wouldn't wish on anyone," Howard continued. "But it is an experience that has grown me like so, so much."

The Howards — who are parents to sons Griffin, 3, and August, 2 — initially announced the pregnancy loss in a joint Instagram post on Sept. 27, writing, "It is with very heavy hearts that we share about the loss of our baby girl born far too soon."

"It's always been my dream to be a mother and I'm so happy that Carter and I found each other," the new mom told PEOPLE. "We are so excited to start our family together and our hearts are exploding with love for our baby boy."

In the season 2 premiere of Paris in Love, Hilton opened up about her decision to use a surrogate. "Surrogacy was a difficult decision to make," she said. "I would have loved that experience of growing the baby in your tummy and feeling the kicks and all of those exciting moments, but my life has just been so public. So even though the baby is biologically mine and Carter's, we decided to have a surrogate carry him."

The reality star has also discussed the role her past trauma played in her choice. Hilton told Glamour UK in February 2023 that the sexual abuse she experienced as a teenager at Utah boarding school Provo Canyon School left her afraid of the medical exams that go along with pregnancy.

"I'm just so scared. I think, again, leading back to Provo of even being in a doctor's office, just all of that. The shots, the IVs that they put in," she shared. "But I want a family so bad, it's just the physical part of doing it. I'm just so scared ... childbirth and death are the two things that scare me more than anything in the world."

In an effort to keep her son's birth a secret, Hilton wore a disguise to the hospital and didn't tell anyone about his arrival — including her family. In the season 2 trailer of Paris in Love, the reality star explained that "if anyone found out, it would be paparazzi all over Cedars."

"I've given my whole life to everyone for so long. It's just been really important to me to keep this a secret," she said. "This is the first time that something's just mine."

Hilton waited until a week after Phoenix's birth to share the news with her friends and family. "Not even my mom, my sisters, my best friend knew until he was over a week old," she revealed on her podcast I Am Paris in February 2023. "It was really nice to have that with Carter, be our own journey together. I just feel like my life has been so public, and I've never really had anything be just mine."

The media personality also opened up on her podcast about how she decided on her son's name 10 years ago. "Phoenix has a few good pop culture reference points, but more importantly, it's the bird that flames out and then rises from the ashes to fly again," she said. "I want my son to grow up knowing that disaster and triumph go around and come around throughout our lives. And that this should give us great hope for the future."

As for his middle name, Hilton explained that the moniker is a tribute to her late grandfather, Barron Hilton. "He was always my mentor. I looked up to my grandfather so much, and we were so close, and I miss him every day. So, I really wanted to honor him by having his name in my first son's name," she said.

By the time Phoenix was 6 months old, Hilton shared with PEOPLE that her son was already "really great with flying on the plane" and a "good traveler." She added that she "can't wait until he's a little bigger so I'm able to take him everywhere."

As he's grown, his parents agree that Phoenix closely resembles the reality star. "I saw his eyes the other day and having looked into your eyes so many times, I kind of got chills because that's Paris' eyes," Reum shared in an April 2023 episode of I Am Paris. Hilton added, "His baby photos look exactly like mine."

In October 2023, after several followers left hurtful comments about the size of Phoenix's head on one of Hilton's photos, she replied that her "angel is perfectly healthy" and "just has a large brain." She later issued a statement about the "unacceptable" comments that "deeply" hurt her.

"If I don't post my baby, people assume I'm not a great mother and if I do post him, there are some people who are cruel and hateful I'm a proud working mom and my baby is perfectly healthy, adorable and angelic," she said. "I've dreamt of being a mom for as long as I can remember ... Every day with him is a reminder of what truly matters."

At the GQ Men of the Year Awards in November 2023, Hilton opened up to PEOPLE about her special bond with her firstborn. "It's exciting to have this next phase in my life and just to have this little angel who just brightens up my day every morning and this smile melts my heart," she said. "He's my best buddy and I just am obsessed."

She also shared that Phoenix has mastered his first words. "He says, 'Mama.' He says, 'Yes.' He says, 'Dada' too, now," Hilton said. "I felt like the other day when I said, 'I love you, bey.' He said something back to me and it sounded like, 'I love you.' "

The couple welcomed their second child, daughter London, via surrogate in November 2023. Hilton shared the news on Thanksgiving by posting a photo on Instagram of a pink baby outfit with the name London printed across a long-sleeve top. "Thankful for my baby girl🥹🩷👶🏼," she captioned the post.

In July 2023, Hilton alluded to expanding her family when she shared photos of herself with her three nieces and said she was "dreaming of the day" when she would have a daughter. While the Paris in Love star considered telling her mom about expecting London, she ultimately surprised her family on Thanksgiving by walking into her living room holding the newborn.

During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Markin November 2023, Hilton opened up about revealing the baby news to her family.

"It was before the turkey. This was around like 5 o'clock at night and Carter got everyone in the living room," she explained. "He's like, 'Oh, I have a surprise.' Everyone thought a magician was coming, like, 'We have a performer coming in!' "

Hilton added, "Everyone's so excited and then I just walk in carrying a pink blanket with the baby and everybody is sitting there like, 'What?!' "

Though Hilton kept her second baby's arrival a secret, she's always been very open about the name she planned to give her daughter. In a January 2022 appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show, the reality star shared the meaning behind her future daughter's moniker.

"The girl is gonna be named London Marilyn Hilton Reum," she said. "Marilyn after my grandmother and London because it's my favorite city and I think Paris and London sound cute together."

After welcoming London, Hilton told PEOPLE that she was "over the moon that our little princess is here" and that her "life just feels so complete" with both her children.

"I am so excited to have our first holidays together," she said. "Thanksgiving was so special, surprising everyone with London and getting to show Phoenix the Christmas tree for the first time. Seeing his eyes light up and seeing the wonder in his eyes, it's such a magical experience. I can't wait for our first Christmas together as a family."

Hilton didn't show her daughter's face on social media until she was 5 months old, but in April 2024, she shared the first photos of London exclusively with PEOPLE. "With Mother's Day around the corner, I couldn't resist introducing the world to my baby girl London and sharing these precious moments of our family together," Hilton told PEOPLE.

She added, "Phoenix and London are everything to me, and I feel like the luckiest woman in the world to be married to the love of my life and have our beautiful family. We make the absolute best team, and my life finally feels complete."
