WASHINGTON — Maryland Gov. Wes Moore says he was not invited to and would not attend a working breakfast for governors at the White House this week after President Donald Trump repeatedly insulted him.

"No. The president's been very clear on multiple occasions that he does not want to see me, so I'm fine with that," Moore, a Democrat, said in a Feb. 18 interview with USA TODAY.

Trump has singled out Moore for criticism, blaming him for a Potomac sewage spill, assailing his handing of Baltimore's bridge collapse and invoking a controversy over his military record. Moore is up for reelection this year and is considered a potential 2028 presidential candidate, even though he's said he sees no reason to run.

Trump initially sought to limit the traditionally bipartisan event that's associated with the annual National Governors' Association meeting in Washington to elected Republicans. The bipartisan organization that's led by Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, a Republican, then said it would no longer participate, forcing what appeared to be an about-face by the president.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore sits for a portrait in his office in the Maryland State House in Annapolis, MD, on Friday, June 28, 2024. Moore was sworn in as the 63rd Governor of Maryland on January 18, 2023. He took the oath of office at the Maryland State House in Annapolis, becoming the state's first Black governor and the third in U.S. history. Look back at his life from former Army Captain to governor of Maryland.

Stitt then told governors that Trump would be inviting every member of the organization to the Feb. 20 breakfast. But later the same day Trump said in a social media post that Stitt incorrectly stated his position on the meeting and a separate dinner that's taking place on Feb. 21. Trump said every governor except Democrats Moore and Jared Polis, of Colorado, were invited to the policy breakfast and the White House dinner.

"The invitations were sent to ALL Governors, other than two, who I feel are not worthy of being there," Trump said.

The president said he would not be inviting Polis or the "foul mouthed Governor of Maryland, who fraudulently stated that he received Military medals, A LIE, is doing a terrible job on the rebuilding of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, and has allowed Baltimore to continue to be a Crime Disaster."

"I look forward to seeing the Republican Governors, and some of the Democrats Governors who were worthy of being invited, but most of whom won't show up," Trump said in the Feb. 11 post.

Democratic governors previously said they would not attend the dinner or the meeting over Moore and Polis' exclusion from the White House event. Governors were still expected to skip the dinner at the time of the interview with Moore, but it was unclear if they would attend the breakfast.

Moore, 47, serves as vice chair of the NGA. He told USA TODAY he would be participating in other parts of the conference that's taking place in Washington Feb. 19-21. But he said the organization would not take part in White House events if some of its members were excluded.

"We will continue all the traditions of being able to make sure that we're spending time together, getting to know each other Republicans and Democrats and work together. But none of us are interested in attending a reality television show set," he said. "And we also know that if you are excluding individuals part of our organization, then that means you are excluding the organization and the organization as a whole. The NGA will not participate in something that all the governors are not invited to."

As recently as this week, the NGA said every governor had been invited to the policy meeting at the White House that's doubling as a breakfast, with the association again serving as the organizer. But in the interview, Moore indicated that was not the case.

"If all the governors are not invited to, there is no NGA breakfast —that is just the president deciding who he wants to invite and the president can invite whoever he wants, but it will not be a National Governor's Association event," Moore said.

A spokesperson for Polis referred questions about the matter to the White House. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

CHICAGO (AP) — From jokes about his well-known stubbornness to tears grieving the loss of a parent, the adult children of the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. gave an emotional tribute Wednesday honoring the legacy of the late civil rights icon, a day after his death.

Jackson died Tuesday at his home in Chicago after battling a rare neurological disorder that affected his ability to move and speak. Standing on the steps outside his longtime Chicago home, five of his children, including U.S. Rep. Jonathan Jackson, remembered him not only for his decades-long work in civil rights but also for his role as spiritual leader and father.

"Our father is a man who dedicated his life to public service to gain, protect and defend civil rights and human rights to make our nation better, to make the world more just, our people better neighbors with each other," said his youngest son, Yusef Jackson, fighting back tears at times.

The family said details on funeral arrangements for Jackson would be announced at a later time, but services will begin next week, with him lying in repose at the headquarters of the organization he founded, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition in Chicago, which his son Yusef oversees. Services will follow at a church large enough to accommodate expected crowds.

Jackson rose to prominence six decades ago as a protege of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., joining the voting rights march King led from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. King later dispatched Jackson to Chicago to launch Operation Breadbasket, a Southern Christian Leadership Conference effort to pressure companies to hire Black workers.

Jackson was with King on April 4, 1968, when the civil rights leader was slain.

Remembrances have poured in worldwide for Jackson, including flowers left outside the home where large portraits of a smiling Jackson had been placed. But his children said he was a family man first.

"Our father took fatherhood very seriously," his eldest child, Santita Jackson, said. "It was his charge to keep."

His children's reflections were poetic in the style of the late civil rights icon — filled with prayer, tears and a few chuckles, including about disagreements that occur when growing up in a large, lively family.

His eldest son, Jesse Jackson Jr., a former congressman, said his father's funeral services would welcome all, "Democrat, Republican, liberal and conservative, right wing, left wing — because his life is broad enough to cover the full spectrum of what it means to be an American."

The family asked only that those attending be respectful.

"If his life becomes a turning point in our national political discourse, amen," he said. "His last breath is not his last breath."

It's every parent's biggest fear. A shocking video shows a man attempting to snatch a child away from her mother at a northern Italian supermarket.

The incident occurred at Esselunga mall in Bergamo on Saturday, Feb. 14, Storyful reported.

Surveillance footage shared by the Italian State Police captured the alleged attacker grabbing the girl before trying to flee, resulting in a violent physical confrontation between the man, the child's parents and other witnesses on the scene.

"The woman's resistance prevented the worst from happening until her father, the security guards, and the bystanders stopped the attacker until the police arrived," police said in the press release translated to English.

GLOUCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A coalition of authorities is deploying technology to try to locate the wreck of a fishing boat that sank last month off Massachusetts, killing all seven aboard. But winter weather and sea conditions have thus far slowed their efforts.

The 72-foot (22-meter) vessel Lily Jean was returning to port early Jan. 30 to repair fishing gear when it sank in frigid Atlantic waters off the historic fishing port of Gloucester. Multiple agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Massachusetts Environmental Police, are cooperating to try to find the wreck of the ship and potentially recover the bodies of the deceased, officials said Wednesday.

The Lily Jean sank in waters that were more than 300 feet deep and very inhospitable in winter. Environmental police have deployed side-scan sonar to try to gather data and detect anomalies on the ocean floor, officials said. They said they also hope to be able to send a remotely operated vehicle to the site to gather photos and video, but seas have thus far made that challenging.

Officials will provide updates to the community that is still grieving the loss of the victims, said Massachusetts Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr, a Republican of Gloucester.

"One of the most haunting things about grief or loss at sea is the not knowing," Tarr said during a news conference on Wednesday. "Answering those questions requires a tremendous amount of effort."

The Coast Guard initially launched a search and rescue mission after receiving an alert from the vessel about 25 miles (40 kilometers) off Cape Ann. Searchers found a debris field near where the alert was sent along with a body in the water and an empty life raft, the Coast Guard said. The search was suspended the following day, and the community has rallied around the families of the victims since.

Gloucester is America's oldest seaport and is well known for its close-knit fishing community. The book and movie "The Perfect Storm" were inspired by the FV Andrea Gail, which went missing at sea in 1991.

Coast Guard officials identified the victims of the sinking of the Lily Jean as captain Accursio "Gus" Sanfilippo and crew members Paul Beal Sr., Paul Beal Jr., John Rousanidis, Freeman Short and Sean Therrien. Also aboard was Jada Samitt, a fisheries observer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Ricky Beal, brother of Paul Beal Sr., said during Wednesday's news conference that he is hopeful the investigation will help families in the community better understand what happened. He also encouraged anyone following the investigation not to spread false information about it.

"As of now, hopefully in the future, the investigation will give us some light on what happened. But as of now, only God knows what happened that fateful morning," Beal said.

The Lily Jean, Sanfilippo, and his crew were featured in a 2012 episode of the History Channel show "Nor'Easter Men." The captain is described as a fifth-generation commercial fisherman, out of Gloucester, in the Georges Bank. The crew is shown working in dangerous weather conditions for hours on end, spending as many as 10 days offshore catching haddock, lobster and flounder.

After finding herself caught up in the ongoing America's Next Top Model reckoning, The View cohost Whoopi Goldberg has publicly apologized for laughing at a former ANTM contestant's expense on Tyra Banks' modeling reality show.

In response to finding out that Netflix's new Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model docuseries included brief 2010 clip of Goldberg laughing at cycle 14 contestant Alexandra Underwood falling off of a runway plagued by moving pendulums, the Oscar-winning Ghost actress offered an apology to the model on Wednesday's live episode of the talk show.

"Here's something I want to do, because in this documentary there's a clip from our show, where I had showed the ladies this thing. Now, this was, to me, one of the funniest things I had ever seen in my life," Goldberg, 70, said as old footage played of her on The View laughing at Underwood's spill — which saw a giant pendulum knock the model off of a runway during the cycle 14 competition.

"You still say that," panelist Sara Haines added, which Goldberg confirmed.

"I do. I know, but I wanted to apologize, because there's a person who got knocked off there, and her name is Alexandra Underwood from cycle 14. I'm sorry I laughed at this," Goldberg said. "I couldn't help it, it was funny as hell. But, I am telling you it's one of the funniest things, if I had to point to something, it is one of the funniest thing I've sever seen."

Haines again cut in to save Goldberg's apology, hugging Goldberg as she quipped, "What she means is she's sorry she's still laughing about it!"

Guest cohost Savannah Chrisley jumped in to add, "Back then, I'm sorry, we're held to a different standard now. People tip-toe a lot more in today's day and age," which prompted Goldberg to clarify her words again.

"I have fallen down. You have to take it when people are laughing, but this is maybe 10 years ago, and she's a grown-up now, a grown woman, maybe she's got kids, and I just wanted her to know that I wasn't laughing [at her], I was laughing because to me people slipping and falling [is funny]," Goldberg said.

Comedian Joy Behar finished the segment by voicing a long-standing adage: "When I fall, it's tragedy. When you fall, it's comedy."

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Underwood for a response.

Hulu; Amazon Prime

The View cohost's words join a wealth of ANTM personalities who also spoke out about the show. Reality Check includes multiple interviews with Banks, former judges Jay Manuel, Nigel Barker, and Miss J. Alexander, as well as multiple contestants and producer Ken Mok.

Topics covered include allegations of sexual harassment and instances where models were tasked with darkening their skin to portray women of different races in photo shoots.

EW previously conducted a 20th anniversary oral history on ANTM with 14 past contestants speaking out on shocking moments from the program, including the switching-races shoots that took place on cycles 4 and 14.

"I kept saying, 'You guys are putting me in blackface,'" cycle 13's Jennifer An previously told EW, alleging that the show's team pinned her hair "so they could 'fro my hair out" to complete her evolution into a woman with African heritage. "They definitely didn't show any of that footage."

In a statement to EW at the time of the 2023 interviews, a spokesperson for Banks said that the intention of the shoots were to combat an industry where "lighter skin and straight hair were pervasive beauty standards," which "perpetuated deep insecurities within women." The spokesperson maintained that such shoots were "meant to be a moment celebrating and spotlighting underrepresented ideologies of beauty — textured hair and darker skin — on a global scale."

Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model is now streaming on Netflix.

Whitney Leavitt is set to rock 'Chicago' as Roxie Hart for a bit longer, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star announced on Wednesday.

Putting her acting chops to work, Leavitt made the announcement on Instagram with a moody 'Chicago'-esque monologue set in black and white, complete with a cigarette prop.

"Oh New York, New York, they told me Broadway would chew me up and spit me out, and I must say she certainly tried," she said. "After all, I am just a small town girl in a big city but it turns out New York wants a little bit more than just a Costco sample."

"I'm not going anywhere baby," she added, leading to text that read "Whitney Leavitt is officially extending as Roxie Hart in 'Chicago.'"

"SECRET'S OUT!!!!!!!" she captioned the video.

And, of course, fans were elated congratulating the newfound Broadway star in the post's comments. "Yasssssss 🎶 "we had it coming, we had it coming🎶," one wrote, with another saying, "THAT'S RIGHT 👏👏 AND ALL THAT JAZZ" referencing the show's famed songs.

"Yesss 🙌 congrats and well deserved" added another, while another fan said Leavitt in 'Chicago' was the "best performance ever i think."

When Leavitt first announced her Broadway debut, she was initially slated to take the stage until March 15. According to Playbill, she'll now stay on as Roxie from March 23 to April 5.

Leavitt's success in the role may have been set way before she took the stage, however. During her time on Dancing with the Stars in the show's most recent season, her partner Mark Ballasperhaps manifested that she should be in Chicago when the two did a tango to "Cell Block Tango" on the show. Leavitt went on to sell out opening night of the show before her run even began.

Support for the reality-turned-Broadway-star has been a constant as both her SLOMW co-stars and DWTS pros have shown to watch her perform. And now, fans, and maybe even more stars, have a few more weeks to score a ticket to see her on stage. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

An official trailer for season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was released on Feb. 18, and once again, MomTok's future seems uncertain

The sneak peek shows big moments for the reality stars, like Taylor Frankie Paul's casting as The Bachelorette and Whitney Leavitt and Jennifer Affleck on Dancing with the Stars

The show's highly anticipated upcoming installment will premiere on March 12 on Hulu

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is returning for a fourth season, and MomTok is looking to be as full of drama as ever.

The official trailer for the upcoming installment of the Hulu reality series was released on Wednesday, Feb. 18, and it spotlights all of the cast members' biggest recent achievements. As always, the high-highs — like Taylor Frankie Paul's casting as The Bachelorette and Whitney Leavitt and Jennifer Affleck's run on Dancing with the Stars — are complemented by some tough blows teased in the sneak peek.

"Everyone is going after their dreams, but it potentially could pull us apart," Layla Taylor says at one point in the trailer, which also glimpses her appearance walking in New York Fashion Week.

Many were left wondering whether or not Demi Engemann would be moving forward with the series after she was at the center of several controversies shown during season 3, from her Vanderpump Villa fallout to her Halloween party run-in with Chase McWhorter and more. She was also notably absent from the season 4 teaser trailer released in January and is not featured alongside the cast in the official artwork for the new season.

However, Engemann is confirmed to be part of the cast, though the trailer sees her peering down alternative career paths, like singing. One snippet sees her crooning into a microphone, seemingly recording a song.

Relationships will also wind up and unravel over the course of season 4. Less than two weeks ago, Taylor confirmed she split from her boyfriendm Mason McWhorter, in an emotional TikTok video. In the trailer, though, the now-exes are seen showing affection at an earlier point in their romance.

One year out from Paul's breakup with ex Dakota Mortensen, she is shown telling confessional cameras, "It's time for me to do whatever I want to do with whoever I want to do." While the details of her pursuits have yet to be revealed, the group is shown hanging out with fellow reality star Harry Jowsey.

Even with specifics left to be seen in episodes to come, the group is sure to be tested as they balance their personal lives with their presence on a public stage. Later in the trailer, Paul can be seen crying in a hospital bed just after Jessi Ngatikaura asks aloud, "Is she gonna be a pregnant Bachelorette?"

Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will premiere on March 12, with all 10 episodes streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
