Is Tell Me Lies over?
The hit Hulu series — which stars real-life couple Grace Van Patten and Jackson White as college students drawn into a toxic romance — began streaming its third season in January 2026. Told across dual timelines from roughly 2008 to 2015, the show chronicles their destructive romance and the lingering damage that resurfaces at a wedding years later.
"A big part of the point of the show is how these sorts of relationships can cause blindness and cause you to make mistakes that maybe people on the outside would see coming, but when you're in it, you can't see it," showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer told Script in January 2026.
She added that she hasn't had to try too hard to "make these characters lie," and that the lack of communication in unhealthy relationships allows lying to just happen organically.
"If you lie in a big way once," the creator explained, "there are a thousand little lies that you have to tell to cover that."
With the finale dropping on Feb. 17 and the drama between Lucy (Van Patten) and Stephen (White) reaching a boiling point, fans are wondering whether the addictive show has come to an end or if there's more story left to tell.

Hours before the season 3 finale dropped on Hulu, Oppenheimer confirmed that it would be the series finale.
"After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight's episode will be the series finale," the showrunner wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her with the cast.
"This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it," she continued. "Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion."

When Tell Me Lies was just in talks to be renewed for season 3 in October 2024, Oppenheimer told Decider that three seasons seemed like a satisfying arc to aim for.
"I think most shows nowadays do well with three seasons," she explained. "I think that's a very clean, good number to me — especially when it's something that's a smaller story, not a big procedural thing."
Oppenheimer added that she was open to more than three seasons, but preferred the story end "when it's good" rather than drag it out.
Two years later, the showrunner doubled down on her remarks, explaining in her Instagram post that she wanted the series to end while it was still of quality.
"My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you," she wrote. "And so, while it is bittersweet to leave something that has been such a happy experience, I am very grateful that we are able to tell a complete story with an intentional ending - a privilege very few shows get."

Before the news hit that it wouldn't be renewed, Elite Daily asked Van Patten and White point-blank if season 3 was the last of Tell Me Lies — and neither star seemed certain.
"I don't know," White claimed, while his real-life girlfriend added, "We genuinely have no idea ... We're prepared for it all."
After Oppenheimer shared the news of the show's end, Tom Ellis, who plays Oliver on Tell Me Lies and is married to Oppenheimer, commented on her post in support of the decision.
"I'm so proud of you my baby," he wrote. "You created an iconic show. I Can't wait for what's next.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."
