Jaime King celebrated the 15th anniversary of Hart of Dixie at Pluto TV's event in Hollywood on June 10

King reflected on her character, Lemon Breeland, calling her multifaceted and one of her favorite roles to play

She credits the show's comfort and charm to its heartfelt writing and the cast's genuine connection with each other

Jamie King has a lot of heart for Hart of Dixie. When catching up with PEOPLE at Pluto TV's Hart of Dixie 15th Anniversary Celebration in Hollywood on June 10, King, 47, reflected on what made the show so special and why she loves her character.

When asked where she thinks her character Lemon Breeland would be today, she says, "I feel like she'd be doing something radical. Like some[thing] kind of like feminist but still traditional. Who knows? Who knows? She's probably traveling the world."

King's character was engaged to Scott Porter's George Tucker on the show, and tells PEOPLE what she's taken from playing her.

"What I really wanted to do with Lemon and what I've learned from Lemon is that it takes courage and bravery to go for what it is that you want, to break through the traditions to go for the loving that you want, to go for the things that make you happy," she shares. "She's just so multifaceted and definitely one of my favorite humans."

The show, which ran for four seasons from 2011 to 2015, is frequently rewatched by fans and hailed as a comfort show. One of the reasons King believes that is because the creator and our showrunner, Leila Gerstein, "said that she wanted to write about a show and create a place where she would want to live."

"That's really what it was like. With all of this hustle and bustle and noise in the world, when we were on set, and the stories that we told are really about like day-to-day life, and they're funny, and they can be outrageous, and there's love, and there's comfort, and I think people need that. People want to have characters and their relationships that they can rely on," King shares.

She says the pull of the show is "a testament to the writing and it's a testament to the casting of it because these people will forever be like embedded upon my life and it's very emotional."

"You can really feel our loving for one another in the show and our loving for our audience. We do these things because we want to entertain, and so it's such a gift when we can," the actress says.

Reflecting on the show, King says that one thing that goes through her head is "happiness."

"This show makes me so happy, and so many people so happy, and it's such a testament to how much loving that we have as a cast and like such an exquisite show that we made," she continues. "And I love that people can laugh and feel comforted by it, and I think about these characters all the time, so I'm just over the moon."

She says the show is "the gift that keeps on giving."

- Joan Cusack is celebrating her ability to lead a "normal" life away from Hollywood.

- The *Toy Story 5 *actress recently walked the red carpet for the first time in 11 years.

- At the Los Angeles premiere for the Pixar film on Tuesday, she said that her ability to exist outside of the spotlight has been "priceless."

Joan Cusack has been enjoying her time away from the spotlight.

The past few weeks have seen the beloved actress make her grand return to the red carpet to celebrate the debut of* **Toy Story 5*, the latest entry in the Pixar franchise, which sees her voice cowgirl doll Jessie.

Cusack's appearance at the London premiere of the film in May marked her first time walking the red carpet in 11 years, with her last carpet appearance dating back to September 2015. On Tuesday, she smiled for photos once again at the film's Los Angeles premiere.

But make no mistake, the Emmy winner and two-time Oscar nominee has no regrets about her decision to recede from the public eye.

Asked by *Variety* why it's become rarer for her to attend these events, Cusack replied, "I think because I’ve worked for a long time and I’m so honored to be able to work in this industry for a long time, but it’s also great to live your life and raise your kids and be in Chicago and be a normal person."

The mother of two added that having that amount of freedom away from Hollywood is "kind of priceless."

When the interviewer noted how "excited" people are to see Cusack back on the red carpet, she appeared touched.

"Aw," she said. "Well, it's kinda cool 'cause there's not that many movies that do huge red carpets unless you're doing, like, an action, superhero [film], so it's cool."

Cusack is also stepping back into the spotlight when it comes to the story of *Toy Story 5*, which spends plenty of time with Tom Hanks' Woody and Tim Allen's Buzz Lightyear, but ultimately centers around Jessie. The film takes a toys vs. tech approach, as the toys navigate a world in which kids are choosing the allure of an iPad over the joys of analogue play.

Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, and Woody from 'Toy Story 5'.

The film sees the gang's kid, Bonnie, struggling to make friends as the last kid on her block still playing with toys. So her parents offer a solution: Lilypad (Greta Lee), a smart device introduced to help her connect with other kids her age in a virtual playground instead of a physical one. Jessie and the gang begin to fear that there won't be any place left in the world for physical toys, so they rally the troops in an effort to help Bonnie make friends away from screens.

Cusack told ** in April how she got choked up after first reading the script.

"I know every parent in the United States worries about their kids. When do you get them involved in tech? What does that do to their brains? And that's what this movie's about," she gushed. "It's about humanity and playing and loyalty — and it makes me cry."

*Toy Story 5 *premieres in theaters on June 19.

Susan Boyle has rallied behind Scotland's men's national football team, sending a powerful four-word message of encouragement ahead of their first World Cup game in 28 years: "You can do this."

The Scottish singer, who shot to fame on Britain's Got Talent in 2009, shared a video on Saturday, proudly revealing a national team shirt from beneath a fur coat, declaring: "No Scotland no party."

She captioned the post: "I had a dream! Scotland has a dream! You can do this!"

The highly anticipated fixture against Haiti, scheduled for 9pm local time on Saturday (2am BST), has drawn significant attention, with First Minister John Swinney, actor Gerard Butler, and singer Clare Grogan among those travelling to Boston to witness the historic moment.

Boyle's message follows a recent surprise musical collaboration with ice cream brand Cornetto, where she released a dance remix of their popular jingle.

Steve Clarke will hope his Scotland side can make a winning start (PA)

This marked a notable departure from her signature operatic sound, opting instead for a pulsing club beat. The announcement came days after she teased her comeback on social media, showcasing a glamorous new look featuring a sleek blonde bob, sunglasses, and a long, brown fur coat.

The 65-year-old, originally from Blackburn, West Lothian, was the runner-up on BGT after stunning audiences with her rendition of 'I Dreamed A Dream' from Les Misérables.

Since then, she has achieved three UK number one albums, a Top 10 single, and two Grammy Award nominations.

Last year, she garnered headlines when Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet praised her as one of his top five Britons, placing her alongside Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham.

Scotland's footballers are gearing up for what promises to be a crucial clash with Haiti, especially as Steve Clarke's men have two tougher games on paper still to come.

They are due to play Morocco on Friday 19 June before taking on five-time champions Brazil five days later.

Scotland also faced Morocco and Brazil when they last competed in the World Cup back in 1998. They lost both matches and exited the tournament hosted by France at the group stage, but will hope to go further this time around.

Emma Raducanu shrugged off a "tough" injury scare as she battled into the Queen's Championships semi-finals on Saturday.

The British No 1 beat Uzbekistan's Kamilla Rakhimova 6-3 7-5 in a match delayed by a day after heavy rain in west London.

It means she will have to play her semi-final, against American teenager Iva Jovic, later on Saturday.

She needed three match points to see off world No 78 Rakhimova in a tense service game, screaming with delight as she booked her place in the last four - which will feature two Brits, after Katie Boultersealed her biggest win by ranking, over world No 2 and Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina, late on Friday.

The 23-year-old said: "It was a match of ups and downs, I'm really grateful for the support I had in some really tough moments, and closing out that second set."

On both her and Boulter reaching the semi-finals, she said: "I think it's incredible. We all love playing on the grass, and it shows, me and Katie are in the semis and we play doubles here as well. It's great to see and great for the tournament. Really wishing her well and hoping I can do the same."

Raducanu's quarter-final was briefly interrupted by the King's birthday flypast and also by a medical timeout when she was up a set and a break in the second set and slipped on the grass, which has caused problems for several players this week, with Canada's Victoria Mboko out for the rest of the grass-court season after falling earlier this week.

Raducanu returned to the court with strapping on her left thigh, which she later removed, and initially struggled to shake off the fear and nerves of slipping again.

She said: "Right now it's a mix of adrenaline. It was tough to take that, I felt like I was in a pretty good spot in the match. On grass these things can happen. I found it pretty tough to regroup but I'm really proud of how I did that with the help of you guys."

The 23-year-old, who missed two and a half months of tennis with a post-viral illness earlier this season, has bounced back from a disappointing first-round exit at the French Open to match her best WTA Tour-level result on grass. It also matched her career-best result at a WTA 500 event, her semi-final run at Washington 2025.

Raducanu opened with an ace, then dug herself out of trouble after three double-faults to hold her serve, before breaking her opponent's at the first time of asking.

Rakhimova broke back immediately, then brought the set level at two games apiece.

Raducanu was up 40-0 in the fifth game when it was paused for about five minutes for the flypast, as a series of aircraft thundered overhead. The serving Briton initially looked baffled then started to smile, breaking into a laugh along with the crowd as her serve was interrupted once again.

The confusion continued, the umpire at one point having informed those curious that "it's definitely going to be the Red Arrows at some point" but it was unclear when.

They finally did appear, Raducanu now fully embracing the spectacle as she pointed to the planes whizzing overhead before – finally – getting to serve and holding Rakhimova to love.

She slipped awkwardly at 3-1 up but shrugged off the injury following a medical timeout (PA)

She was up a break after the next game, and there was another hold to love to secure the first set.

Whatever unsteadiness had plagued the Briton to begin the match had faded away by the second, going up a break immediately. Raducanu was leading the second set 3-1 when, after securing the first point of the fifth game, she slipped behind the baseline, initially carrying on but, after Rakhimova reduced the deficit to one, called for a medical time out.

She returned with substantial strapping on her left thigh, saving three break points before a double-fault opened up a window for her opponent – and Rakhimova took advantage to bring the set back level.

The wrapping came off Raducanu's thigh with Rakhimova leading 4-3, the Briton quickly held to love to bring the match back level, then battled through a difficult ninth game to go up a break.

The pair exchanged breaks, and resilient Rakhimova fended off two match points before Raducanu – who bowed out in the quarter-finals in 2025 – was finally able to secure her place in the last four.

Shannon Hart, wife of New York Knicks star Josh Hart, spoke with PEOPLE before Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals about the superstition she follows during his games

The Knicks wife explained that she only taps into this ritual when the basketball star is at the free throw line during the best-of-seven championship series

Hart and the Knicks are looking to win the championship when they face the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 on Saturday, June 13

Karl-Anthony Towns's fiancée Jordyn Woods isn't the only Knicks WAG with a "lucky" superstition during the NBA Finals — Josh Hart's wife, Shannon, has a unique one of her own to get through the championship series.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE ahead of Game 5 on Saturday, June 13, Shannon revealed the hard-to-believe ritual she follows while watching her husband of nearly five years shoot free throws during the NBA Finals: "I have to look away," she admits.

"I used to do these little spirit finger things [during his free throws] and then he started missing all the time, so I was like, 'Okay, that's not working.' That started at Villanova because that was the thing," says Shannon, who spoke with PEOPLE the day before Game 5 on behalf of her partnership with Reese's.

"There was one time I was like, 'I'm just going to look away because I cannot watch him miss again.' So I looked away and he started making them!" she shares. "So now I have to look away. I cannot look until the ball rolls off of his hand."

The only way she knows if Josh's bucket is good, is by "going off of what the crowd's reaction is like," she explains.

Shannon has teamed up with Reese's in honor of the brand's special mashup with Oreo for a bold blue-and-orange packaging for the cookie snacks inside. The partnership was a perfect fit for the Knicks wife, who is no stranger to the color scheme.

"We've been wearing orange and blue day after day after day. So, it's a perfect match with our outfits with the colors of the city," says Shannon, who actually rocked a custom Reese's jacket to the Knicks game with her friend, Ali Brunson (Jalen Brunson's wife), at Madison Square Garden for Game 4.

Similar to Woods' lucky bag, Shannon has a purse of her own that she's bringing with her for good luck in San Antonio for Game 5 on Saturday. She also has jewelry that she incorporates into her game-day looks, which include a special detail in tribute to her husband.

"For me, I always wear this cross necklace. I wouldn't take it off," she tells PEOPLE. "And then something that has my husband's name on it... I actually had this purse last game, I'm not trying to copy Jordyn or anything, but it was a crazy win so I'm bringing it this time."

"It's this blue YSL purse that I brought last time," she explains of the bag she's bringing with her to the matchup in San Antonio on Saturday, where her husband the Knicks hope to close out the Spurs to secure the championship.

"Obviously, you saw what happened last time," she says of the Knicks' epic comeback win in Game 4, adding, "So I'm like, I have to run that back because why wouldn't I?"

Katy Perry brought high fashion and a heartfelt musical moment to the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles.

The pop star, 41, took the stage on Friday, June 12, while wearing a shimmering silver sequin dress from Stella McCartney's Fall/Winter 2026 collection. Perry helped close out the star-studded celebration ahead of the United States' tournament-opening match against Paraguay.

Perry wore the sculptural fringe dress with a pair of see-through wedge mules and silver jewelry.

The "Firework" performer shared the stage with 10-year-old Tius, a young singer from Norway who appears on "Wonder," a track from her 2024 album 143.

Just one day before taking the stage, Perry introduced fans to Tius in a video shared on social media and explained the story behind his involvement in the song.

"That little voice you're listening to right now is Tius," Perry wrote alongside the clip.

"Tius recorded his part on 'Wonder' when he was 5 years old in 2021. I heard his vocal in 2023 and was inspired to write the verses for 'Wonder' and added it to my sixth album," she continued. "Tius is 10 now and flew all the way to LA from Norway to sing this song with me on Friday at the World Cup ✨⚽."

The performance marked the first time Perry had performed "Wonder" live, something she teased earlier this week while attending the Tribeca Festival premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live from Paris.

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE, Perry hinted that she had chosen a song fans had never heard her perform onstage before.

"It's very fitting for the ceremonial song that I get to sing," Perry said.

"And it's not new," she added. "It's off of one of my records, and I'm very excited to perform it."

Perry was one of several major artists featured during the Los Angeles ceremony, which served as the final opening celebration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The California event featured performances from Future, Anitta, BLACKPINK's Lisa, Rema and Tyla.

Ahead of kickoff, country duo Dan + Shay performed the U.S. national anthem, while Paraguayan folk-pop group Purahéi Soul performed Paraguay's national anthem.

Los Angeles marked the final stop in a series of World Cup opening celebrations, following a June 11 kickoff event in Mexico City and a ceremony in Toronto earlier the same day.

Mexico City's ceremony featured performances from Shakira and Burna Boy, who performed "Dai Dai," the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside a lineup that included Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.

Toronto's celebration was headlined by Michael Bublé, with Alessia Cara, Alanis Morissette, Elyanna and Vegedream.

The tournament's return to the United States comes more than three decades after the country last hosted FIFA World Cup matches in 1994.
