World leaders have voiced concern after Israeli police prevented Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Sunday.

Pizzaballa had attempted to travel to the church within Jerusalem's Old City with the Rev. Francesco Ielpo, the church's official guardian, to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass, according to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

It said the two were stopped en route and compelled to turn back, marking "the first time in centuries" that Palm Sunday Mass could not be celebrated at the church, which is the holiest site in Christianity, where many believe Jesus was crucified.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said in a statement that police had intervened to block Pizzaballa "out of special concern for his safety," claiming that "there was no malicious intent whatsoever."

The statement noted that all holy sites in the Old City, which is home to Christian, Muslim and Jewish sacred sites, were closed to worshippers when the war broke out with Iran in February.

"Iran has repeatedly targeted the holy sites of all three monotheistic religions in Jerusalem with ballistic missiles. In one strike, missile fragments crashed meters from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre," Netanyahu's office said.

"Freedom of worship will continue to be upheld, subject to necessary restrictions," Israeli police said in a statement.

The formal Palm Sunday procession, which usually draws thousands of Christians, was canceled last week in line with a ban on large gatherings imposed by Israel, with the Latin Patriarchate citing "restrictions imposed by the conflict."

The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem said the two men were "proceeding privately and without any characteristics of a procession or ceremonial act."

It said the incident sets "a grave precedent" and disregards "the sensibilities of billions of people around the world who, during this week, look to Jerusalem."

In a statement Sunday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed "solidarity" with Pizzaballa, Ielpo and others "whom Israeli authorities prevented today from celebrating Palm Sunday Mass at the Holy Sepulchre."

"Denying entry to the Patriarch of Jerusalem and the Custos of the Holy Land, especially on a solemnity central to the faith such as Palm Sunday, constitutes an offense not only against believers but against every community that recognizes religious freedom," she added.

French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the decision of the Israeli police on X, which he said "joins a worrying series of violations of the status of the holy sites in Jerusalem."

Ahead of the incident, Pope Leo XIV had opened his Palm Sunday address at the Vatican by emphasizing that his prayers were "more than ever with the Christians of the Middle East." He reiterated the message in an X post after the incident, without addressing the event directly.

Italy's Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini said the incident was "unacceptable and offensive," while the country's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said he would summon the ambassador of Israel to "obtain clarifications" on what occurred.

Steffen Seibert, Germany's ambassador to Israel, said on X that the incident was "painful to all Christians," while the vice president of the European Parliament, Pina Picierno, said the incident constituted "a grave, unprecedented, and unacceptable violation of religious freedom."

Following the outcry, Netanyahu's office said that authorities would put together "a plan to enable church leaders to worship at the holy site in the coming days" as the rest of Easter week is marked.

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ's entrance into Jerusalem, when his followers laid palm branches in his path.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Large crowds protested Saturday against the war in Iran and President Donald Trump's actions in "No Kings" rallies across the U.S. and in Europe. Minnesota took center stage, with thousands of people standing shoulder-to-shoulder to celebrate resistance to Trump's aggressive immigration enforcement.

Minnesota's flagship event on the Capitol lawn in St. Paul drew Bruce Springsteen as its headliner. He and other speakers praised the state's people for taking to the streets over the winter in opposition to a surge of U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement agents.

Springsteen performed " Streets of Minneapolis," the song he wrote in response to the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents. Springsteen lamented Good and Pretti's deaths but said the state's pushback against ICE gave the rest of the country hope.

"Your strength and your commitment told us that this was still America," he said. "And this reactionary nightmare, and these invasions of American cities, will not stand."

People rallied from New York City, with almost 8.5 million residents in a solidly blue state, to Driggs, a town of fewer than 2,000 people in eastern Idaho, a state Trump carried with 66% of the vote in 2024.

Big but mostly peaceful crowds

U.S. organizers have estimated that the first two rounds of No Kings rallies drew more than 5 million people in June and 7 million in October. They expected 9 million participants Saturday, though it was not clear whether those expectations were met.

Organizers said more than 3,100 events — 500 more than in October — were registered, in all 50 states.

Protests were mostly peaceful, but some arrests were reported.

In Los Angeles, authorities deployed tear gas near a federal detention center downtown. One man had a leaf blower, attempting to clear the air. The Los Angeles Police Department later arrested people for failing to disperse. Earlier in the day, a band was playing and people were dancing to Spanish-language music.

The Denver Police Department said on the social platform X that it declared an unlawful assembly and deployed smoke canisters after a small group of protesters blocked a road and did not leave as asked. Some threw the canisters back at officers, police said. At least eight people were arrested, as was a ninth person later on who police said was throwing objects.

GOP officials dismissive of protests

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson called them the product of "leftist funding networks" with little real public support.

The "only people who care about these Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions are the reporters who are paid to cover them," Jackson said in a statement.

The National Republican Congressional Committee was also sharply critical.

"These Hate America Rallies are where the far-left's most violent, deranged fantasies get a microphone," spokesperson Maureen O'Toole said.

Protesters have a long list of causes

Trump's immigration enforcement push, particularly in Minnesota, was just one item on a long list of grievances that also included the war in Iran and the rollback of transgender rights. Speakers at the Minnesota rally decried billionaires' economic power.

In Washington, hundreds marched past the Lincoln Memorial and into the National Mall, holding signs that read "Put down the crown, clown" and "Regime change begins at home." "

Bill Jarcho was there from Seattle, joined by six people dressed as insects wearing tactical vests that said, "LICE" — spoofing ICE — as part of what he called a "mock and awe" tour.

"What we provide is mockery to the king," Jarcho said. "It's about taking authoritarianism and making fun of it, which they hate."

About 40,000 people marched in San Diego, police there said.

In New York, Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, said during a news conference that Trump and his supporters want people to be afraid to protest.

"They want us to be afraid that there's nothing we can do to stop them," she said. "But you know what? They are wrong — dead wrong."

In Topeka, Kansas, a protesters dressed up in an inflatable frog costume and a baby version of Trump. Wendy Wyatt showed up with a "Cats Against Trump" sign. Many things upset her about the administration, she said, but the rallies are "very hopeful to me."

Organizers said two-thirds of RSVPs for the rallies came from outside of major urban centers. That included communities in conservative-leaning states like Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, South Dakota and Louisiana, as well as suburbs in electorally competitive Pennsylvania, Georgia and Arizona.

Main event at the Minnesota Capitol

Organizers designated the rally there as the national flagship event.

Before Springsteen took the stage, organizers played a video in which actor Robert DeNiro said he wakes up every morning depressed because of Trump but was happier Saturday because millions of people were protesting. He also congratulated Minnesotans for running ICE out of town.

The bill also included singer Joan Baez, actor Jane Fonda, Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and a long list of activists, labor leaders and elected officials.

Protesters held up a massive sign on the Capitol steps that read, "We had whistles, they had guns. The revolution starts in Minneapolis."

"Donald Trump may pretend that he's not listening, but he can't ignore the millions in the streets today," said Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers.

Rallies overseas

Demonstrations were also held in more than a dozen other countries, according to co-executive director Ezra Levin of Indivisible, which spearheaded the events.

In Rome, thousands marched with chants aimed at Premier Giorgia Meloni, whose conservative government saw its referendum for streamlining Italy's judiciary fail badly this week. Protesters also waved banners protesting Israeli and US attacks on Iran.

In London, demonstrators held banners with slogans such as "Stop the far right" and "Stand up to Racism."

And in Paris, several hundred people, mostly Americans living in France, along with labor unions and human rights organizations, gathered at the Bastille.

"I protest all of Trump's illegal, immoral, reckless and feckless, endless wars," organizer Ada Shen said.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un observed a test of an upgraded solid-fuel engine for weapons capable of reaching the U.S. mainland, and called it a significant development boosting his country's strategic military arsenal, state media reported Sunday.

While the test was in line with Kim's stated goal of acquiring more agile, hard-to-detect missiles targeting the U.S. and its allies, some experts speculate North Korea's claim may be an exaggeration. Missiles with built-in solid propellants are easier to move and conceal their launches than liquid-fuel weapons, which in general must be fueled before liftoffs and cannot last long.

The official Korean Central News Agency reported Kim watched the ground jet test of the engine using a composite carbon fiber material. It said the engine's maximum thrust is 2,500 kilonewtons, up from about 1,970 kilonewtons reported in a similar solid-fuel engine test in September.

KCNA reported the test was conducted as part of the country's five-year arms build-up meant to upgrade "strategic strike means," a term referring to nuclear-capable ballistic missiles and other weapons. Kim said the latest engine test had "great significance in putting the country's strategic military muscle on the highest level," according to KCNA. The agency did not say when or where the test occurred.

North Korea's report on the latest test could be "bluffing" as it didn't disclose some key information like the engine's total combustion time, said Lee Choon Geun, an honorary research fellow at South Korea's Science and Technology Policy Institute.

When North Korea reported about the previous engine test in September, it described it as the ninth and final ground test of a solid-fuel engine that it earlier said would be used for intercontinental ballistic missiles. Observers predicted at the time North Korea would soon test-launch an ICBM loaded with that engine, but it hasn't done so yet.

North Korea's solid-fuel engine program may be facing some delays or the country might have determined to develop a better engine, possibly with Russian assistance, Lee said. Cooperation between the countries has deepened in recent years, with the North sending troops and conventional weapons to support Russia's war against Ukraine.

In recent years, North Korea has test-fired a variety of ICBMs demonstrating the potential range to reach the U.S. mainland, including solid-fuel ones. But some of North Korea's past claims about major weapons tests drew outside skepticism. In 2024, North Korea claimed to have successfully test-launched a multiwarhead missile, but South Korea quickly dismissed it as deception to cover up a failed launch.

Some foreign experts say North Korea still faces technological hurdles before it has a functioning ICBM, such as ensuring its warheads survive the harsh conditions of atmospheric reentry. But others dispute that assessment given the number of years the country has spent on its nuclear and missile programs.

Possession of more powerful and efficient solid-fuel engines would allow North Korea to build smaller ICBMs that can be launched from submarines or land-based mobile launch trucks, Lee said. Other observers say a push to increase the engine power is likely associated with efforts to place multiple warheads on a single missile to increase chances of defeating U.S. defenses.

North Korea has pushed hard to expand its nuclear arsenal since Kim's high-stakes diplomacy with U.S. President Donald Trump collapsed in 2019. In a ruling Workers' Party congress in February, Kim left open the door for dialogue with Trump but urged Washington to drop demands for the North's nuclear disarmament as a precondition for talks.

More than 3,500 U.S. troops, including the USS Tripoli with about 2,500 Marines, arrived in the Middle East, officials announced Saturday, as strikes in the Iran war intensified.

The U.S. Central Command said in a social media post that the USS Tripoli, which serves as the flagship for the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group / 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, arrived in its area of responsibility.

It's the most of the amphibious warships, known as a "big deck," which allows more room for F-35 Stealth Fighter Jets, Ospreys and other aircraft. The ship had previously been based in Japan when the order to deploy to the Middle East came almost two weeks ago.

Central Command said that in addition to the Marines, the Tripoli also brings transport and strike fighter aircraft, as well as amphibious assault assets to the region. The USS Boxer and two other ships, along with another Marine Expeditionary Unit, have also been ordered to the region from San Diego.

More than 11,000 targets have been struck since Operation Epic Fury began on Feb. 28, CENTCOM said Saturday in a fact sheet.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday the United States can meet its objectives "without any ground troops." But he also said President Trump "has to be prepared for multiple contingencies" and that American forces are available "to give the president maximum optionality and maximum, opportunity to adjust to contingencies should they emerge."

The arrival of the U.S. troops in the region comes after at least 10 U.S. troops, including two who were seriously wounded, were injured when Iran fired six ballistic missiles and 29 drones at Saudi Arabia's Prince Sultan air base.

The war, which continues to intensify despite reports of Mr. Trump pushing for a deal, has upended global air travel, disrupted oil exports and caused fuel prices to soar. Iran's stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway, has exacerbated the economic fallout.

On Saturday, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels said they entered the month-old war by claiming a missile launch that Israel said it intercepted.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, a military spokesman for the Houthis, later said in a prerecorded statement aired by the group's Al-Masirah satellite television that the Houthis had launched a second strike on Israel. The Houthis launched strikes in southern Israel to coincide with attacks from Iran and Hezbollah, Saree said, without identifying the locations. Israel did not immediately comment on whether it intercepted any projectiles from Yemen in the second attack.

The Houthis' entry could further hurt global shipping if they again target vessels in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait off the Red Sea. If the Houthis increase attacks on commercial shipping, as they have in the past, it would further push up oil prices and destabilize "all of maritime security," said Ahmed Nagi, a senior Yemen analyst at the International Crisis Group. "The impact would not be limited to the energy market."

Countries have scrambled for alternative routes to the Strait of Hormuz. Bab el-Mandeb, at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, is crucial for vessels heading to the Suez Canal through the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia has been sending millions of barrels of crude oil a day through it because the Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed.

About 12% of the world's trade typically passes through Bab el-Mandeb and about 10% of global maritime trade - including 40% of container ship traffic - passes through the Suez Canal each year.

Houthi rebels attacked over 100 merchant vessels with missiles and drones, sinking two vessels, between November 2023 and January 2025, saying it was attacking in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza during the war there between Israel and Hamas.

The Houthis' involvement also would complicate the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford, the aircraft carrier that arrived in Croatia on Saturday for repairs. Sending the carrier to the Red Sea could draw attacks similar to those experienced by the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in 2024 and the USS Harry S. Truman in 2025.

The Houthis have held Yemen's capital, Sanaa, since 2014. Saudi Arabia launched a war against the Houthis on behalf of Yemen's exiled government in 2015, and the rebels had stayed out of the current conflict due to their uneasy ceasefire with Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Trump has given Iran until April 6 to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iran says it has not engaged in any negotiations.

Trump envoy Steve Witkoff has said Washington delivered a 15-point "action list" to Iran for a possible ceasefire, with a proposal to restrict Iran's nuclear program — the issue at the heart of tensions with the U.S and Israel — and reopen the strait. Tehran rejected the proposal and presented a five-point proposal that included reparations and recognition of its sovereignty over the waterway.

Paradise has inspired some surprising theories about time travel — and Alex's identity — ahead of the season 2 finale.

The hit Hulu series, which premiered in January 2025, initially appeared to be set in a serene and wealthy community forced to face the realities of a shocking murder. But creator Dan Fogelman's political thriller featured a twist when Paradise was revealed to be an underground bunker housing the world's most prominent individuals after an apocalyptic event destroyed the rest of humanity.

The cast previously spoke to Us Weekly exclusively about how they kept the show a secret before its premiere.

"The biggest lengths [we had to go through to keep the twist secret] are happening now when we're actually talking to people about it," Julianne Nicholson shared at the time. "When we were on set, everybody knows what's up, so we don't have to be that secretive."

She continued: "But now the trick is how do you grab people's attention and assure them that this is something different without giving away any of the details? But we're very excited for people to get on the ride with us."

Sterling K. Brown, meanwhile, recently reflected on holding onto so much information about the show.

"I like knowing [what will happen on my projects]. But I feel like it's a question you only ask in TV. Because if you're doing a film or play, you know the beginning, the middle and the end," he told Us in February. "The idea that you don't have to know or have it spoiled for you ... it is also like I get a chance to help craft the arc of where it ultimately goes to. So I don't mind knowing."

Time Travel

The largest concept making the rounds is Paradise finding a way to introduce time travel into the mix. The biggest clue was Link seemingly having a connection to Sinatra's son, which has made some wonder if they are one person. More importantly, the concept of time travel came up with either Link or Sinatra knowingly getting him involved.

Who Is Alex?

From a real person to an idea to a computer, there are endless ideas about who Alex could be. The best bet is probably something inanimate but only time — and the finale — will tell who exactly Sinatra has been relying on so closely.

Freezing Time

Speaking of a close connection, there are questions about whether Alex allowed Sinatra to freeze or slow down time. This would explain some of the behavior in the bunker, which would open up more possibilities for season 3.

Bill Murray is a father of six sons

He shares his two oldest sons, Homer and Luke, with first wife Margaret Kelly

Bill Murray is a dad of six.

Murray welcomed his two oldest sons, Homer and Luke, with his first wife Margaret Kelly, whom he was married to from 1981 to 1996. He shares sons Caleb, Jackson, Cooper and Lincoln with his second wife, Jennifer Butler. However, the couple split in 2008 after over 10 years of marriage.

The Ghostbusters star's marriage with Butler had its fair share of ups and downs, and the subsequent divorce was particularly messy, but Murray later shared that the experience made him and his sons grow closer. "As much as the divorce was very hard, the fallout of it has been really great. I ended up much closer to my guys than I ever would have been," he told Esquire in 2012.

While Murray's children with Butler prefer to stay out of the spotlight, his eldest two sons with Kelly are both well-known in their own right. Homer is a chef who owns his own restaurant, while Luke is the head coach of Boston College's basketball team.

Homer Murray, 44

Murray's oldest son, Homer Murray, was born to him and Kelly on March 3, 1982. Homer has carved out a life and career for himself that is very different from his famous dad's; he works as a chef and restaurateur in New York City. In September 2016 Homer and his business partner Syd Silver turned their old restaurant River Styx into a brand new eatery called 21 Greenpoint.

The Groundhog Day actor was on hand to celebrate the opening of 21 Greenpoint, even pouring drinks from behind the bar. Homer explained to Eater NY, "We want people to come and have fun. People can walk in; just be nice. What my dad lacks in experience, he makes up for in tequila."

That wasn't the only time Murray showed up to support Homer's venture. In May 2020, Homer and his dad teamed up to take on a Nacho Challenge to raise money for the Restaurant Employees Relief Fund. The Food Network live-streamed the event on Facebook, and Murray and Homer posed for a photo that was shared on the 21 Greenpoint Instagram page.

It's clear that Murray couldn't be prouder of his son. A quote from the actor on the 21 Greenpoint website reads: "Homer has taken the joy of the family to have a drink, have a meal, and have friends together in one place, and made it his life's work."

Luke Murray, 40

Luke Murray, Murray and Kelly's second son, was born on April 1, 1985. Like his older brother Homer, Luke has also built a career outside of the entertainment industry.

Luke once served as an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut's men's basketball team. On April 3, 2023, Luke helped the Huskies win the NCAA Men's Championship game, and Murray was in the stands cheering him on. The proud dad attended several of his son's games throughout the March Madness tournament, and told reporters, "I'm very proud of this boy, he's a wonderful kid and he's worked very hard."

In March 2026, Luke was named the head coach of Boston College's men's basketball team,

"In Luke Murray, we have found a leader who does not just understand the modern landscape of college basketball — he has helped define it," the college's athletic director, Blake James, said in a statement, via USA Today. "His role in building a national championship caliber program, his sophisticated offensive vision, and his relentless pursuit of excellence make him the perfect fit to lead our student-athletes. We are thrilled to welcome Luke, his wife, Kara, and their family to the BC community."

Luke has been open about the differences between himself and his father. In March 2017, Luke admitted to USA Today Sports that he's not nearly as funny as his comedian dad, but said they both prefer it this way. "I think that's pretty clear early on. We're different people, and I think [Murray] probably likes it that way," he said. However, he noted that he has "better fashion sense" than his dad, who used to attend his games in Ugg boots, purple shorts and a fur vest.

In 2015, Luke married his wife, Kara Cassidy. Luke and his wife have since welcomed three children.

Caleb Murray, 33

After his divorce from Kelly, Murray married Butler, a costume designer he met on the set of his film Scrooged, in 1997. Bill and Butler welcomed their first child together, son Caleb "Cal" Murray, on Jan. 11, 1993.

Murray's three youngest sons are very private, and he rarely speaks about them to the media. He did however share a sweet anecdote about them from when they were younger in 2016, explaining how they turned him on to Adele.

"I became a fan when I was driving my sons to school," he told Esquire. "I had Adele on, and I look in the rearview mirror and all three of my sons are in the back singing. And I'm thinking, 'What the hell touched these guys?' So I started singing it myself after I dropped them off."

Jackson Murray, 30

The former couple's second son, Jackson Murray, was born on Oct. 6, 1995. Like his older brother, Jackson is very private, and little is known about him.

In his 2012 interview with Esquire, Murray shared his biggest parenting advice. "If you bite on everything they throw at you, they will grind you down. You have to ignore a certain amount of stuff," he said. "The thing I keep saying to them lately is: 'I have to love you, and I have the right to ignore you.'"

When it comes to parenting his sons, the actor also said he finds himself drawing on his own upbringing and recalling how his father raised him. "When my kids ask what I want for my birthday or Christmas or whatever, I use the same answer my father did: 'Peace and quiet.' That was never a satisfactory answer to me as a kid — I wanted an answer like 'A pipe.' But now I see the wisdom of it," Murray told the outlet. "All I want is you at your best — you making this an easier home to live in, you thinking of others."

Cooper Murray, 29

Murray and Butler welcomed their third child, Cooper Murray, on Jan. 27, 1997.

Of Murray's six sons, Cooper seems to be the only one who has taken an interest in acting. In 2012, he had a small role as an Indian Chief Khahki Scout in his father's movie Moonrise Kingdom.

He teamed up with his dad again in 2021, appearing in four episodes of the Farrelly brothers-directed TV series The Now.

In his 2012 Esquire interview, Murray made it clear that he doesn't want to put pressure on his kids to follow in his footsteps. "For many years I was a tough laugh, but lately I've been giving it up. I appreciate when they're trying to be funny, you know? I think they feel like they have to be funny, that I've got some standard of humor that they have to come to," the Saturday Night Live alum said of his kids.

Lincoln Murray, 20

Murray and Butler welcomed their fourth and final child together, Lincoln Murray, on May 5, 2005.

So far, the actor has kept his youngest son almost entirely out of the spotlight — save for a few mentions of him during his 2012 Esquire interview, during which Lincoln interrupted the conversation to tell his dad the score of a Chicago Cubs game.

A Chicago native, Murray is a die-hard Cubs fan, and it appears he may have passed his love for the team on to Lincoln.

"Hey, Dad. Bryan LaHair (former Chicago Cubs first baseman) hit a grand slam," Lincoln, then 10 years old, excitedly told his dad during the interview.
