Tori Spelling is sharing what it was like to watch Love Story alongside her kids

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum spoke with PEOPLE about meeting FX star Sarah Pidgeon and what she enjoyed about the series

"I definitely love the fashion," she said, adding that "it took me to some really good memories through the ’90s"

Tori Spelling says watching Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette took her right back to the '90s.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 52, caught up with PEOPLE on Friday, May 1 as she reflected on her love of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and meeting Sarah Pidgeon (who played Carolyn in Love Story).

“Meeting Sarah... was amazing. She’s so iconic," Spelling told PEOPLE at the Calamigos Ranch Resort & Spa Leading Hotels of the World Accreditation Celebration.

"I definitely love the fashion," she adds of the FX series. "It took me to some really good memories through the ’90s, so it was nice to reflect back on that and watch it with a new generation and my teens."

As Spelling explains, it was "really cool to be able to tell them stories about going through that time era and making it current now.” Spelling, who shares her five kids with ex Dean McDermott, also revealed that her kids are fascinated with '90s fashion themselves. The actress is mom to teens Liam, 19, Stella, 17, Hattie, 14, Finn, 13, and also 9-year-old Beau.

"My kids are really into fashion, every single one of them in a different way," she says. "Fashion is about how it makes you feel. I think it’s about finding your unique perspective. It can be anything."

Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, which premiered on FX on Feb. 12, stars Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. It follows the pair's romance in the years leading up to their tragic deaths in a 1999 plane crash. Other stars include Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein, Leila George as Kelly Klein, Sydney Lemmon as Lauren Bessette and Constance Zimmer as Ann Marie Messina.

Pidgeon, 29, recently told PEOPLE that portraying the late fashion icon in the series, which wrapped in March, had her "in constant pursuit of trying to evoke her essence and stay true to the character that I had built off of all the research that I did."

"So I think that was my way of honoring her — a constant pursuit of feeling like I was trying to be as truthful as possible with the script and then the knowledge that I had of her and marrying those together," Pidgeon told PEOPLE at Disney’s Toast to Television red carpet.

The actress also revealed that she "learned a lot" from her experience in Love Story, calling it "really great to play a young woman with so much sort of ferocity in her protection of her friendships, her private life."

"She had very strong opinions, very self-possessed, and I don’t know if Sarah always exhibits those qualities," she said. "And to be able to embody someone with the fearlessness that she did that she had... I hope that it rubbed off on me. I mean, it was wonderful to be able to play that sort of without abandon.”

Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette is now streaming on Hulu.

Jimmy Fallon starts chewing on microphone in cringey interview ahead of F1 Miami

Jimmy Fallon was excited to be on the F1 Miami Grand Prix grid on Sunday afternoon. In fact, he was so excited that he forgot how to function like a normal human being in society.

The late-night host has been a part of the festivities in Miami throughout the weekend in the lead-up to the race and almost made it through Sunday's action without making things incredibly awkward for every single person watching from home. The keyword there is "almost."

Greg Gutfeld Shares Hilarious Story On How He First Met Jimmy Fallon During 'Tonight Show' Appearance

As he does ahead of each F1 race, Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle made his way through the huge crowd of people at the front of the grid in Miami on Sunday afternoon. Brundle's walks have produced countless memorable moments over the years, with it being an off-the-cuff approach as he runs into celebrities and essentially shoves a microphone in their face.

That's exactly what Brundle did as he made his way up to Fallon, and within a few seconds, Brundle's microphone was in the professional funny man's mouth.

The incredibly awkward parting handshake between the two followed by Brundle saying, "Do not take my mic sock again" really brought the moment together.

Fallon's personality and comedy style have always had a flavor of awkwardness, but chewing on an interviewer's microphone at an F1 race wasn't a move anyone could have seen coming.

As for the Miami Grand Prix itself, it was ultimately rescheduled on Sunday after some nasty storms and heavy rainfall pushed through the area earlier in the day. Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes took the top spot on the podium, while McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished second and third, respectively.

Max Verstappen, the Red Bull racer Fallon said he was pulling for, finished in the five spot.

- The *One Tree Hill* alum surprised the anchors with products from his new candle line, Coast to Coast by Chad Michael Murray, on Monday.

- "Scents are memories, right? They can transport you," he said.

The *Today* coanchors were all alight on Monday’s episode when Chad Michael Murray presented them with an extra special, scented gift.

The *Sullivan’s Crossing** *star surprised the hosts with new his new candle collection, Coast to Coast by Chad Michael Murray, as part of their long-running tradition of giving each other presents whenever he visits the daytime talk show.

“So the first time I came, I brought some sexy calendars. Maybe not so sexy. You remember the calendars?” Murray teased, referring to the shirtless schedule released in support of his 2024 Netflix holiday film,* The Merry Gentlemen*. “And then I came in and you guys gave me a jersey, which I still have.”

He continued, “So this time, I thought… you guys would be the first people to receive this — and I don't know where it is, but — I've got my own line of candles coming.”

Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Dylan Dreyer were then presented with their own individual candles, which they all began to smell and remark upon. Taking a shot at Melvin, Murray jokingly added, “I hear that you're in the candle business, so now we got a little bit of a thing going here.”

Melvin started his own candle company, Melvin Made, last year, with proceeds from each sale going toward helping families fight cancer.

On the show, Murray explained that the candle has a sweet connection to his series *Sullivan’s Crossing*.

“This is ‘California Summer,’ a little wink and a nod to California Jones,” he said, referring to his character on the CW show. “Each lid’ll be different because it's an homage to something. I chop a lot of wood* Sullivan's Crossing*, so I thought that was a little funny wink and a nod.”

He continued, “Scents are memories, right? They can transport you. While Roker and Dreyer expressed their excitement over the candles, Melvin and Murray quickly found themselves waxing on about… well, wax. “Oh, you’re a soy wax guy, huh?” Melvin asked. “One hundred percent soy, or do you use a blend?”

Murray confirmed that the candle is made of soy before Roker stepped in and reminded the pair that they were very much still on live television.

“Well, why don't you guys talk wick a little bit later?” he asked as the hosts laughed.

Schumer blames Trump's 'reckless war' for high gas prices

Standing across the street from the Speedway convenience store on Lakeshore Drive in Canandaigua, Schumer decried the high price of gas and laid blame on President Donald Trump’s “reckless war with Iran, with no end in sight” that is forcing surging prices for families in the Finger Lakes and across the country.

Families are faced with choices of which bills to pay and which to hold off on because of the prices that have rocketed past the $4 a gallon mark, which is "outrageous," Schumer said.

"As they say, gas prices are too damn high," Schumer said at a press conference May 4. "All prices are too damn high."

New Yorkers have paid $517,229,794 more for gasoline compared to prices before the war’s start Feb. 28.

"It's outrageous," Schumer said.

During a visit to Canandaigua on May 4, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer calls for an end to the Iran War, which he said has resulted in higher gas prices that are harming families and farmers in the Finger Lakes region and throughout the country.Prices climb statewide and nationally

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, gasoline demand is up while domestic supply and production have fallen, adding further pressure to prices.

As of May 4, the national average for a gallon of gasoline is $4.46, up 35 cents from last week and well above $3.17 a year ago. New York’s average is also $4.46, up 27 cents from last week, compared with $3.10 a year ago.

The AAA Western and Central New York reported similar increases across the state:

Batavia: $4.39 (up 22 cents)

Buffalo: $4.41 (up 25 cents)

Elmira: $4.37 (up 30 cents)

Ithaca: $4.39 (up 25 cents)

Nassau-Suffolk: $4.45 (up 35 cents)

New York City: $4.56 (up 31 cents)

Rochester: $4.40 (up 21 cents)

Rome: $4.40 (up 26 cents)

Syracuse: $4.40 (up 23 cents)

Watertown: $4.49 (up 30 cents)

White Plains: $4.57 (up 29 cents)

Prices at various locations in Ontario County ranged on May 4 from $4.39 a gallon for regular gas to $4.49. The Speedway near the Schumer press conference advertised $4.43.

Diesel prices are also increasing. The national average is $5.64, up 19 cents from last week and well above $3.55 a year ago. New York’s diesel average is $5.94. Diesel prices were as high as $5.99 a gallon in Ontario County.

Electric vehicle charging costs are also slightly higher, with the national average at 42 cents per kilowatt hour and New York at 41 cents.

Finger Lakes families, farmers bear the brunt of high costs

And families and farmers are feeling the effects.

Rachel Brill said it's cost her $40 more a month for the gas to drive the 46 miles roundtrip from her home in Rochester to her job at Wood Library in Canandaigua.

Ryan Akin, who works at Hemdale Farms and represents farmers in the Finger Lakes region for the New York Farm Bureau, said farmers who responded to a survey indicated they may not be able to afford to buy fertilizer, some of which is produced there and because of the war and blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and their impact on the global marketplace has also resulted in soaring prices.

The cost of fuel farmers require right now to plant crops is also a serious challenge, Akin said.

"What this ultimately means, it's going to cost everybody more for the food they eat," Akin said.

A Schumer 'yes' vote for War Powers Act

Schumer said he will force weekly votes on the War Powers Act, which requires congressional approval for war, until the war is ended. Schumer also called on House Republicans such as Rep. Claudia Tenney, who represents Canandaigua and other portions of Ontario County in Congress, to stand up for families.

The decision to go to war goes to Congress and not one person, Schumer said, adding that he and others are building a coalition that also includes conservative representatives.

"I'm very optimistic that we can pass this War Powers Act," Schumer said.

Charles Hippert, a veteran from Geneva who served in the Vietnam War and lost a best friend in Veitnam, said nothing is more serious than sending someone to war. If there is going to be a war, Hippert said, it had better be justified, approved by Congress and well thought out and planned, Hippert said.

That it's not, and coupled with rising prices, Hippert said, is "more than people can stand."

Fuel-saving tips

AAA recommends drivers save fuel by combining trips, avoiding rush hour, maintaining proper tire pressure and using cruise control when possible.

The AAA Mobile App can help compare gas prices before filling up.

A Reform politician has allegedly been assaulted while campaigning for the party in Glasgow.

Councillor Thomas Kerr, one of the party’s candidates in the city, is said to have been attacked while delivering leaflets in Shettleston in the east end on Friday.

Reform UK Scotland blamed the rhetoric of other parties for the incident.

A spokesperson for the party said: “What has been witnessed on the streets of Glasgow today against Thomas Kerr was beyond unacceptable – free speech is important, but no politician should be subjected to violence while out campaigning.

“The language of our opponents – describing candidates as ‘racist’, ‘fascist’, or ‘far-right’ – is having real life consequences and is not productive to promoting healthy democracy.”

Police Scotland said it was made aware of an assault on a man at Strowan Road around 2.15pm on Friday, telling the Scottish Sun that another man will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.
