Eric Dane was forced to miss an event this weekend amid his battle with ALS.

The "Grey's Anatomy" actor, 53, was honored with the Dean and Kathleen Rasmussen Advocate of the Year Award at the ALS Network's Champions for Cures and Care Gala on Saturday, Jan. 24, in California.

Dane was expected to attend the gala but had to drop out "due to the physical realities of living with ALS," the ALS Network said, while noting his "presence was deeply felt throughout the evening." Aaron Lazar, an actor and singer who has also been diagnosed with ALS, accepted the award on Dane's behalf, and Dane spoke in a prerecorded message.

"This award is not just for me, it's for my beautiful loved ones who are fighting with me, and it's for every person who has faced ALS with courage," Dane said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Eric Dane played Dr. Mark Sloan, aka "McSteamy," on "Grey's Anatomy" for six seasons, but he's not done wooing his audiences yet. In 2025, Dane returned to TV on another medical drama, making his "Brilliant Minds" debut as "Bronx-Gen's favorite silver fox." Dane revealed in April that he'd been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as ALS. See the actor's career in the spotlight from the early 2000's to now, including here as he attends the "Countdown" premiere and afterparty on June 18, 2025, in Los Angeles.

Dane, best known for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan on "Grey's Anatomy," first revealed that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in April. "I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter," he told People magazine.

ALS is a nervous system disease affecting "nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord," which leads to a loss of muscle control and gets worse over time, according to the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms can include difficulty walking and tripping and falling.

"Eric has transformed personal challenges into powerful advocacy," Sheri Strahl, the president and CEO of the ALS Network, said in a statement. "He has turned his ALS journey into a catalyst for progress, uniting people with his voice, his heart, and his determination. The ALS community is stronger, more visible, and more hopeful because of him."

Eric Dane vows to fightALS battle 'until the last breath' for his daughters

Dane has continued working as an actor since announcing his diagnosis, including in the upcoming third season of "Euphoria" and the medical drama "Brilliant Minds." The star has also been an advocate for people with the disease. In October, he traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with the I AM ALS organization and Rep. Eric Swalwell.

"I want to ring every bell," Dane said in a video shared by Swalwell. "I have two daughters at home. I want to see them graduate college, get married, maybe even have grandkids. You know, I want to be there for all that, so I'm going to fight until the last breath on this one."

"I woke up and felt like I was completely deaf in my right ear, couldn't walk in a straight line," Jessie J said on Instagram Live. "Basically I got told I had Ménière's syndrome."

The singer gave her followers an update on her health in June 2021 saying that the steroids she took for her ear problems caused her to have major acid reflux and nodules on her vocal chords.

"Every doctor has told me if I sing ... the nodules will just come right back," she wrote on June 18 on her Instagram story. "My biggest lesson my whole life has been my health."

She added: "I know I'm being faced with this because I can handle it."

On January 26, 1979, American television audiences were introduced to the fictional Hazzard County, Georgia, marking the debut of "The Dukes of Hazzard" on CBS. The show centered on the adventures of cousins Bo and Luke Duke, two "good ol' boys" on probation for moonshining, who spent their days outrunning the corrupt Commissioner Boss Hogg and Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, according to Google Gemini. While the series was initially conceived as a mid-season replacement, it quickly defied expectations to become one of the most-watched programs on television.

The show's massive success was fueled by its blend of lighthearted comedy, family values, and high-octane action. Central to its identity was the General Lee, a 1969 Dodge Charger painted bright orange with a Confederate flag on the roof and "01" on the doors. The car became a character in its own right, famous for its signature "Dixie" horn and spectacular jumps. During the show's peak, it was estimated that the General Lee received more fan mail than the human actors, cementing its status as an icon of American muscle car culture.

Beyond the automotive stunts, the series left a lasting mark on fashion and music. Catherine Bach's portrayal of Daisy Duke led to the popularization of ultra-short denim cut-offs, which are still referred to as "Daisy Dukes" today. Additionally, the show's theme song, "Good Ol' Boys," written and performed by country music legend Waylon Jennings, became a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and remains a staple of the genre.

In recent years, the series has faced modern scrutiny due to the use of the Confederate flag on the General Lee. This has led to the show being pulled from several syndication networks and the cessation of most officially licensed toy production featuring the flag. Despite these controversies and the pressures of "cancel culture," the show maintains a devoted and vocal fanbase. For many, the series represents a nostalgic era of Southern storytelling, characterized by the Duke family's "never meanin' no harm" mantra and their persistent fight against local government corruption.

Terry Crews' daughter Azriél Patricia Crews is opening up about an unsettling encounter with an actor at a celebrity wedding she attended when she was 16.

The actor followed her around at several events related to the wedding, eventually caressing the back of her arm and pressing his knee against hers under the table.

Azriel said the actor "has actually publicly disgraced himself many, many times" since their encounter.

Azriél Patricia Crews is calling out the behavior of a "creepy actor" at a celebrity wedding she attended when she was only 16 years old.

Terry Crews' second-eldest daughter with wife Rebecca King-Crews took to Instagram on Friday to share a two-part story about when she "got hit on by a creepy actor at a celebrity wedding." Before clarifying in advance that she would "not be naming names" when recounting the unsettling encounter, Azriel said with a smirk, "Let's get into it."

The actress and singer explained that she attended the high-profile ceremony with her parents before her father had truly come into his own as a star, so she was bowled over by the sheer wattage of the stars attending. At a pre-wedding party during the week-long chain of events, King-Crews introduced her daughter to the actor "as her 16-year-old, so he was very well aware of my age."

"He was friendly at first, and I was a fan of his work, so I was actually really excited to meet him — at first," Azriel said.

View this post on Instagram

"We arrived at the ceremony, and we found some seats which were unassigned, but then, as if on cue, creepy actor slides into the seat next to me, and he says, 'Funny meeting you here,'" Azriel continued. "As if he didn't intentionally choose that seat. They weren't assigned. That was my first official red flag."

Azriel continued to explain in part 2 of the story that she encountered the actor again at the wedding reception, which was held at a sprawling estate.

"Now, I want to sit back and relax and enjoy my evening, and who sits next to me but the creepy actor. Somehow his name was on the place card next to mine, which, coincidence? I'll never know. So then he leans over to me and says, 'Well, hello again,'" she said.

Azriel recounted how she tried to ignore the actor as he chatted up her parents when "suddenly I feel a hand caress the back of my arm, so I turn to him, and he's smiling at me, creepily, and he says, 'Are you enjoying yourself?' So I said, 'Yes,' and he goes, 'Well, don't act too civilized.' And that was when I realized that his knee was pressed against my knee under the table."

She didn't wait a moment before springing up and heading to the bathroom.

Azriel's mother followed her to the bathroom, she explained, where she explained what happened.

"My mother immediately believed me and, being the Christian woman that she is, held my hands and started praying with me in the bathroom" that the actor "would leave us alone, because we didn't want to have to tell my father and cause a scene at this big star-studded event," she said. Incredibly, he was gone when they returned.

"Was it an answer to prayer?" Azriel asked. "Possibly. Or it was the fact he realized he had gone too far. We never saw him for the rest of the night." Though she kept good on her promise not to name names, Azriel noted that the actor in question "has actually publicly disgraced himself many, many times" since their encounter.

Terry Crews has previously opened up about his own history of unwanted sexual contact.

In 2017, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star revealed he had been groped by a "high-level Hollywood executive" the year before at a party. "I decided not 2 take it further becuz I didn't want 2b ostracized— par 4 the course when the predator has power n influence," Crews shared in the wake of the first allegations coming down against disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein. "I let it go. And I understand why many women who this happens to let it go. Who's going 2 believe you? ( few)."

Beckham's appearance comes just days after her eldest son Brooklyn confirmed speculation about a feud with his family.

Victoria Beckham proved that friendship never ends for the Spice Girls as she reunited with her former bandmates. Just days after her eldest son Brooklyn penned an explosive six-page statement confirming rumors of a family feud, the fashion designer embraced power dressing as she made an appearance at Emma Bunton's 50th birthday party.

"Happy birthday to the most beautiful soul," Beckham wrote in a rare Spice Girls group photo shared to both her Instagram Story and feed. Posing next to Baby Spice, who looked chic in a light pink blazer jacket with matching trousers and a cream quilted leather bag, Victoria put a cold-weather twist on suiting. Posh Spice played with silhouettes with a long black blazer featuring exaggerated padded sleeves. She wore a white T-shirt underneath, which she tucked into a pair of high-waisted black slacks. Beckham styled her dark brown hair in an effortless blowout, showing off golden-blonde strands at the bottoms. "I love you girls so much," she wrote, also tagging Geri Halliwell and Melanie C. Mel B was the only Spice Girl missing from the group photo.

Victoria's husband David Beckham commented on the reunion in the comments, writing, "This made me so happy. I can only imagine how the spice girls fans feel @spicegirls @victoriabeckham special night celebrating Emma."

Victoria's attendance at the birthday festivities came shortly after her son Brooklyn shared a social media statement where he shared details of his falling out with his parents and two younger brothers Cruz and Romeo. On Monday, the Cloud23 founder alleged that he began having issues with his family ahead of his wedding to Nicola Peltz, claiming that his parents were unwelcoming to his wife and that his mom hijacked his first dance with her at the 2022 nuptials.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel says the remains of the final hostage in Gaza have been recovered, clearing the way for the next phase of the ceasefire that stopped the Israel-Hamas war.

Monday's announcement came a day after Israel's government said the military was conducting a "large-scale operation" in a cemetery in northern Gaza to locate the remains of Ran Gvili.

The return of all remaining hostages, living or dead, has been a key part of the Gaza ceasefire's first phase, and Gvili's family had urged Israel's government not to enter the second phase until his remains were recovered and returned.

Israel and Hamas have been under pressure from ceasefire mediators including Washington to move into the second phase of the U.S.-brokered truce, which took effect on Oct. 10.

Israel had repeatedly accused Hamas of dragging its feet in the recovery of the final hostage. Hamas had said it had provided all the information it had about Gvili's remains, and accused Israel of obstructing efforts to search for them in areas of Gaza under Israeli military control.

Israel's military had said the large-scale operation to locate Gvili's remains was "in the area of the Yellow Line" that divides the territory.

The ceasefire deal aims to wind down the war that was sparked by the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, that killed about 1,200 people and saw 251 taken hostage. Gvili, a 24-year-old police officer known affectionately as "Rani," was killed while fighting Hamas militants during the attack.

Before Gvili's remains were recovered, 20 living hostages and the remains of 27 others had been returned to Israel since the ceasefire, most recently in early December. Israel in exchange has released the bodies of hundreds Palestinians to Gaza.

The next phase of the 20-point ceasefire plan has called for creating an international stabilization force, forming a technocratic Palestinian government and disarming Hamas.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP's earlier story follows below.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli teams were combing through a Gaza cemetery Monday for the remains of the final hostage in Gaza, the military said, after Hamas claimed it had done all required of it under the ceasefire agreement to search the side of the territory not controlled by troops.

The search marked a dramatic last-ditch effort by Israel to find the body of Ran Gvili as Washington and other mediators apply pressure to move forward with the U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement.

The clearest sign of progress would be Israel opening the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt for Palestinians to enter and exit the territory. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office says Israel will open the crossing once the search for Gvili is finished.

Israeli fire, meanwhile, killed two Palestinians in Gaza, health authorities said, and Israel's Supreme Court considered a petition to allow the foreign press independent access to Gaza.

Israel says the search for Gvili's remains could last days

A military official said that the search for Gvili's remains began over the weekend in the areas of Shuja'iyya, Daraj and Tuffah, based on intelligence. The official said troops were joined by rabbis and dental experts to help identify Gvili. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were discussing an operation still underway.

According to two Gaza City residents, the search took place in a cemetery in the Tuffah neighborhood, which includes hundreds of bodies. The residents, who asked to be unidentified for fear of reprisal, said Israeli forces were digging graves in the Batsh Cemetery, pulling bodies out before leaving them in the open.

Israeli military officials were quoted in local media as saying the operation could take days to complete.

Hamas had searched for Gvili's body on the side of the ceasefire line currently occupied by most of Gaza's Palestinians.

Israeli troops control the eastern portion of Gaza, under the agreement. The militant group said Sunday it had given mediators all the information it had about Gvili's location and claimed Israel was searching one of the sites it had specified, across the ceasefire line where the militant group is not permitted.

The return of all remaining hostages, alive or dead, has been a central part of the first phase of the ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 10. Before Monday, the previous hostage was recovered in early December.

Also key to the agreement is opening the Rafah crossing, which Palestinians see as their lifeline to the world. The crossing remained closed Monday. It has been largely shut for entry to and exit from Gaza since May 2024, but for a small period in early 2025.

Gvili's family has urged Netanyahu's government not to enter the ceasefire's second phase until his remains are returned. But pressure has been building, and the Trump administration has already declared in recent days that the second phase is underway.

Palestinians killed in Gaza

Israeli forces on Monday fatally shot a man in Gaza City's Tuffah neighborhood, according to Shifa Hospital, which received the body. The man was close to an area where the military has launched the search operation for Gvili, the hospital said.

Another man was killed in the eastern side of Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital, which received his body. The circumstances of his death were not immediately clear.

More than 480 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire since Oct. 10, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. The ministry, which is part of the Hamas-led government, maintains detailed casualty records that are seen as generally reliable by U.N. agencies and independent experts.

Israel's top court considers petition to open Gaza for international journalists

The Foreign Press Association on Monday asked Israel's Supreme Court to allow journalists to enter Gaza freely and independently.

The FPA, which represents dozens of global news organizations, has been fighting for more than two years for independent media access to Gaza. Israel has barred reporters from entering Gaza independently since the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas, which triggered the war, saying entry could put both journalists and soldiers at risk.

The army has offered journalists brief, occasional visits under strict military supervision.

FPA lawyers told the three judge panel that the restrictions are not justified and that with aid workers moving in and out of Gaza, journalists should be allowed in as well. They also said the tightly controlled embeds with the military are no substitute for independent access. The judges are expected to rule in the coming days.

LONDON (AP) — The European Union opened a formal investigation into Elon Musk's social media platform X on Monday after his artificial intelligence chatbot Grok spewed nonconsensual sexualized deepfake images on the platform.

European regulators also widened a separate, ongoing investigation into X's recommendation systems after the platform said it would switch to Grok's AI system to choose which posts users see.

The scrutiny from Brussels comes after Grok sparked a global backlash by allowing users through its AI image generation and editing capabilities to undress people, putting females in transparent bikinis or revealing clothing. Researchers said some images appeared to include children. Some governments banned the service or issued warnings.

The 27-nation EU's executive said it was looking into whether X has done enough as required by the bloc's digital regulations to contain the risks of spreading illegal content such as "manipulated sexually explicit images."

That includes content that "may amount to child sexual abuse material," the European Commission said. These risks have now "materialized," the commission said, exposing the bloc's citizens to "serious harm."

Regulators will examine whether Grok is living up to its obligations under the Digital Services Act, the bloc's wide-ranging rule book for keeping internet users safe from harmful content and products.

In response to a request for comment, an X spokeswoman directed The to an earlier statement that the company remains "committed to making X a safe platform for everyone" and that it has "zero tolerance" for child sexual exploitation, nonconsensual nudity, and unwanted sexual content.

The X statement from Jan. 14 also said it would stop allowing users to depict people in "bikinis, underwear or other revealing attire," but only in places where it has been deemed illegal.

"Non-consensual sexual deepfakes of women and children are a violent, unacceptable form of degradation," Henna Virkkunen, an executive vice president at the commission, said in a statement.

"With this investigation, we will determine whether X has met its legal obligations under the DSA, or whether it treated rights of European citizens — including those of women and children - as collateral damage of its service," said Virkkunen, who oversees tech sovereignty, security and democracy.

Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI launched Grok's image tool last summer. But the problem began snowballing only late last month when Grok seemingly granted a large number of user requests to modify images posted by others. The problem was amplified both because Musk pitches his chatbot as an edgier alternative with fewer safeguards than rivals, and because Grok's responses on X are publicly visible, and can therefore be easily spread.

The EU investigation covers only Grok's service on X, and not Grok's website and standalone app. That's because the DSA applies only to the biggest online platforms.

There's no deadline for the bloc to resolve the case, which could end in either X pledging to change its behavior or a hefty fine.

In December Brussels issued X with a 120-million euro (then-$140 million) fine as part of the earlier ongoing DSA investigation, for shortcomings including blue checkmarks that broke the rules on "deceptive design practices" that risked exposing users to scams and manipulation.

The bloc has also been scrutinizing X over allegations that Grok generated antisemitic material and has asked the site for more information.

Malaysia and Indonesia blocked access to Grok earlier this month in response to the controversy, becoming the first countries to do so.

On Friday, Malaysian authorities said they lifted the temporary restriction after the company implemented additional security and preventive measures, without giving further details. Malaysian regulators said they met last week with X's representatives and would continue to monitor the situation.

Jan 26 (Reuters) - A powerful winter storm sweeping across much of the United States forced airlines to cancel thousands of flights and delay hundreds on Monday, as freezing rain and heavy snowfall disrupted travel and snarled transportation networks.

About 3,800 flights were canceled and over 1,000 were ‌delayed as of early Monday, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware, following more than 11,000 cancellations reported on Sunday.

The number of cancellations and delays ‌was expected to rise as the day progressed.

Low pressure south of New England is expected to move east over the Atlantic on Monday, bringing heavy snow to parts of the Northeast and freezing rain across sections of the Mid-Atlantic, the U.S. National Weather Service said.

Snow is also expected along the Appalachian region, while rain will spread along the Southeast coast as a cold front moves offshore, ‌the agency said.

American Airlines accounted for the largest share of disruptions on Monday, with over 600 flights canceled and about 135 delayed, followed by Republic Airways, JetBlue Airways and ‍Delta Air Lines.

Shares of American Airlines, Delta Air and United Airlines fell nearly 1% each in premarket trading.

The disruptions also left thousands of travel plans in limbo. Passengers inundated carriers with queries on social media platforms such as X to seek clarity on flight schedules.

The Federal Aviation Administration said in an advisory that weather-related constraints, including snow, freezing ‌rain and low visibility, were affecting major hubs such as Boston and the New York-area airspace.

The agency said ground stops and delay programs could be imposed through the afternoon at airports including LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy International, Philadelphia International, Newark Liberty International and Washington Dulles International if conditions worsen.

Major U.S. carriers rolled out sweeping travel waivers and flexible re-booking options to assist passengers whose travel plans were disrupted by the cancellations.

Airline operations are highly interconnected, meaning cancellations can leave aircraft and crews out of position, complicating efforts to restore normal flight schedules.

International operations were also affected by the extreme weather. Dutch carrier KLM said some of its U.S.-bound flights were disrupted over the weekend, but added that all services to the country were expected to operate normally on ‍Monday.

ROADS BATTERED, THOUSANDS WITHOUT POWER

The storm also impeded road travel. The Federal Emergency Management Agency warned that driving conditions could become dangerous as blizzard-like conditions, strong winds and ice spread further.

Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of customers across several U.S. states, from Tennessee to the Carolinas, reported power outages, with Tennessee reporting the most cases.

More than 820,000 customers were without electricity as of ‌early hours on Monday, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
