Bocce’s Bakery Offers Limited-Ingredient Halloween Treats for Your Dog's Health

Trick-or-treating is one of my favorite parts of spooky season. Seeing the variety and cleverness of costumes comes in a close second to hiking miles around our community, collecting hoards of candy. I almost miss the days the kids were in strollers, as these candy bags get pretty heavy by the end of the night.

A lot of our neighbors dress their dogs up and take them with them or have them sitting in their adorable costumes out in front of their houses, much to the delight of kids and adults alike. But I always end up feeling bad for them. Even though they get pets and scratches to their hearts’ content, they never get any treats. But with Bocce’s Spooky Treat bundle, our pup and every other Halloween-loving pup can snag a few dog-friendly treats of their own.

Spooky Treat Bundle at Bocce’s, $16

Bocce's Bakery

Bocce is well-known in ingredient-conscious dog-parent circles for its limited-ingredient treats, made with human-grade, easy-to-recognize mixtures that pups and their owners adore. The brand was originally developed in New York for a pup named Bocce who needed to lose some weight, an all-too-relatable scenario for many dog owners. While the brand has climbed in popularity (you can even find them in Costco!) Bocce’s parents are steadfast in their dedication to simple ingredients with no preservatives.

Their Spooky Treat Bundle definitely fulfills those goals. The set includes a bag each of Bocce’s Spiced Cider and Phantom Feast chews. Each bag is 6 ounces of tasty goodness. The Phantom Feast treats are made from oats, chicken, pumpkin, coconut glycerin, cane molasses, flaxseed, vegetable oil, and citric acid.

The Spiced Cider chews are made from oats, apples, coconut glycerin, cheese, cane molasses, flaxseed, vegetable oil, cinnamon, and citric acid. Neither treat contains wheat, which can be a huge bonus for gluten-free households. We have a pretty heavy allergy household, with both animals and humans having long lists of intolerances, so simple ingredients that fit our pups’ diet without exposing us to potential allergens are always a plus.

They’re not only safe to handle, but pups also love the taste. Our pup Grizzly tried the Spiced Cider Chews and absolutely devoured them, though he isn’t too picky. He loves his treats and rarely turns his nose up at anything. But he isn’t the only fur ball who is a fan. The treats get a solid 5 stars in all 40 reviews currently on Bocce’s website, an impressive feat. Dog parents all agree that their pets love the taste and they love that there are not a whole lot of ingredients.

Why Choose Limited Ingredient Treats?

Pet parents choose limited-ingredient treats and food for many reasons. One main reason is food allergies, especially if you are in the early stages of identifying what is bothering your pup. If there are only a handful of possibilities, it is much simpler to narrow down what may be causing your pup distress. Long ingredient lists, especially ones you can’t identify, make it much harder. When we were trying to decipher what bothered Grizzly, it was very difficult to parse out which ingredient was bothering his tummy and making his ears itchy. Treats with few ingredients made all the difference and gave him the ability to resume one of his favorite pastimes, snacking between meals.

As PetMD points out, it also helps pups with sensitive stomachs, who may not have any food allergies. It can also be helpful if your pup is working on losing a few pounds. Of course, if you have any allergy or weight concerns for your pup, you should talk to your veterinarian before trying any new diets or treats.
