A rep for Taylor Frankie Paul is speaking out after a video connected to an alleged domestic violence incident between *The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives* star and her ex Dakota Mortensen was leaked to the public.

TMZ published the video to its site Thursday amid news that police have opened a separate investigation into an alleged assault halting production on season 5 of*The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives*. The controversy has cast a dark shadow on Paul's upcoming debut for the season 22 premiere of*The Bachelorette*.

"It's sad to see the latest installment of his never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child," Paul's rep told ** in a statement. "Releasing an old video, which conveniently omits context, on their son's birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior. Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show, and from their own experiences."

In the video, Paul is seen throwing a chair at Mortensen while one of her children is present. At one point in the footage, Paul tries to put Mortensen in a headlock, attempts to kick him, and hurls a metal barstool at him. Paul's daughter begins crying as her mother yells at Mortensen that he "did this." Mortensen refutes the accusation, telling her, "You're doing this to yourself."

At the time of the incident, Paul was arrested and pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault. As part of her plea deal, Paul was placed on 3 years' probation, which ends in August, and prosecutors dropped four other charges, including domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse, and criminal mischief.

EW has reached out to reps for ABC, Hulu and Mortensen. A source previously told EW that Mortensen was focused on Ever, his 2-year-old son with Paul, as conflicting reports about their more recent alleged dispute make headlines.

"He knew there was a possibility it could come out, but he was not going to be the one to proactively do that because he has always wanted a decent relationship with Taylor," the source said. "It's been really hard to achieve that, but he wants to co-parent well."

Paul shares a son and a daughter with her ex-husband, Tate Paul, who has never appeared on *Mormon Wives*. She began dating Mortensen, a real estate agent and the owner of a tiling company, years before the series premiere in September 2024. They were on-and-off throughout the series, leaving things on uncertain terms at the end of season 4.

The reality star was chosen as the star of *The Bachelorette** *season 22 in September 2025 — a historic leap away from the franchise's usual method of selecting leads within Bachelor Nation. The Sunday premiere is highly anticipated, in no small part thanks to Paul's admission on the recent season of *Mormon Wives *that she spent the night before day one of filming *The Bachelorette *with Mortensen.

She implied to EW on Tuesday that Mortensen was not aligned with her desires to keep their legal issues out of the media as she braces herself for more of the spotlight.

"I actually took action about a few weeks ago. I'm just doing third-party everything — pick-up, drop-offs, communication — so no contact right now for me," she told EW of her current status with Mortensen. "I think that's the best case, honestly, because clearly it's just not to a point of us getting along, so I wanted to take the best action I could. … I didn't want to bring anything to the public eye, making it a bigger deal for the sake of my son, and just everything about to come out. But that wasn't the plan for [Mortensen]."
