Hacks beat The Bear in a major upset for the top comedy honor as Shogun swept the board in record-breaking fashion for the drama categories at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards which featured a star-studded red carpet. The HBO comedy starring Jean Smart - who earned Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series - and Hannah Einbinder ended the night on top over the FX series and a very impressive field for Outstanding Comedy Series which also included Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Reservation Dogs, Only Murders in the Building, Palm Royale, and What We Do in the Shadows.
