Mikayla Matthews spoke out about a production pause for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives amid an open domestic assault investigation into cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen

The reality TV star revealed the reason behind the pause in filming on her Instagram Stories

Police confirmed to PEOPLE on March 16 that there is an open domestic assault investigation into Paul and Mortensen, adding that "allegations have been made in both directions" and "contact was made with involved parties on [Feb.] 24th and 25th"

Mikayla Matthews is speaking out about a production pause for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

On March 16, multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that filming had been halted for the reality TV show amid an ongoing domestic assault investigation involving cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.

In a post to her Instagram Stories on March 19, Matthews answered a fan's question about whether Mormon Wives was "actually on pause."

"It was a decision that all us girls came up with and agreed on," confirmed the reality TV star. "We didn't feel comfortable filming with everything that was happening."

Reps for Hulu have not commented on the production pause to PEOPLE.

On Monday, the Draper Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that there is an open "domestic assault investigation" involving Paul and Moertensen, adding that "allegations have been made in both directions" and "contact was made with involved parties on [Feb] 24th and 25th." The pair, whose rocky relationship has served as a main story arc throughout Mormon Wives' four seasons, share 2-year-old son Ever.

Sources told PEOPLE that fellow Mormon Wives cast members were maintaining their distance as the investigation unfolded.

"The girls are very overwhelmed. They all banded together and they don't want to come back right now," said a source close to production. "They were just getting tired of Taylor, honestly."

"None of the women want to be associated with her," added a source close to the cast.

Since news broke of the investigation, both Paul — whose season of The Bachelorette is set to premiere on March 22 — and Mortensen have acknowledged the media firestorm in public statements.

Paul first broke her silence during a Bachelorette press event on March 17, telling PEOPLE, "It's a heavy time, and it's unfortunate." At the event, she also told Entertainment Weekly that she and her son's father are using a "third party" to handle "pick-up, drop-offs [and] communication" as the investigation unfolds, noting that those decisions came when she "took action about a few weeks ago."

Paul also appeared on Good Morning America on March 18 to promote the forthcoming Bachelorette season, where she told host Lara Spencer, "I'm a person that will always speak my truth and that's what I'm known for and so when the time is right, I will be."

During the interview, Paul also acknowledged the production pause, telling Spencer that she had heard that Mormon Wives had stopped filming but did not know "for how long and why."

On March 18, a rep for Mortensen shared a public statement with EW acknowledging the investigation, maintaining that "his number one priority here is protecting Ever" and denying the implication that he was the reason the investigation had been made public.

"He knew there was a possibility it could come out, but he was not going to be the one to proactively do that because he has always wanted a decent relationship with Taylor," the rep continued. "It's been really hard to achieve that, but he wants to co-parent well."

Reps for Paul, ABC and Hulu have not commented on the allegations to PEOPLE.

Paul and Mortensen's domestic assault investigation follows Paul's 2023 arrest on allegations of domestic violence after an argument with Mortensen. She was given misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, accused of throwing a chair at Mortensen that allegedly hit her daughter.

Paul pled guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault, which means that if she complies with the conditions of the plea, that charge will be dismissed. The other charges have already been dismissed.

Diane Warren proclaimed herself the "biggest loser" of the Oscars following her 17th nomination and subsequent loss for Best Original Song

Warren was nominated for "Dear Me," created for her own documentary Relentless and sung by Kesha

"But hey, you know what? I'll take it. That means I've been nominated all these times," Warren said

Diane Warren is embracing her title as the "biggest loser" of the Oscars.

Following the 2026 Academy Awards on Sunday, March 15, the legendary songwriter, 69, opened up to NBC Los Angeles' Robert Kovacik about her 17th Oscar nomination without a win — a record-breaking statistic, multiple outlets reported. This year, Warren was nominated for Best Original Song for "Dear Me," sung by Kesha and created for her Warren's documentary Relentless, which ultimately lost to KPop Demon Hunters' "Golden."

Appearing on NBC LA, Warren poked fun at how her loss led her to break a new record: nine consecutive Academy Award losses, which prompted her to dub herself the "biggest loser" of the Oscars.

"I saw a lot of headlines that I am now the biggest loser, like ever, in the history of the Academy Awards," Warren said, letting out a laugh. "But hey, you know what? I'll take it. That means I've been nominated all these times."

She added that all of the nominations, to her, carry more weight than just any one competitive Oscars win could.

Throughout her career, in addition to her 17 Oscar nominations, Warren has won an Academy Honorary Award — presented by Cher — plus a Grammy, an Emmy and two Golden Globes.

In an Instagram post after the Oscars, Warren shared one of the headlines outlining her record-breaking losing streak. In the comments, Kesha — who sang Warren's latest Oscar-nominated song — voiced her support for the songwriter and praised her lasting effect on the music industry.

"I am so proud of you and I am honored to have sung this incredibly special song of yours. You do not need an award to tell you how much you have impacted this business and this world," Kesha, 39, wrote. "You have helped write the soundtrack of all of our lives!"

Days after the Academy Awards, Warren again took to Instagram to let fans know her latest loss won't be slowing her down. Sharing a selfie posed in front of her keyboard, with a pen in her hand, Warren wrote in the caption, "Ok, on to the next song!💪🎶🎵🎼🎹✍️."

In 2025, after being nominated for Best Original Song (for "Journey," performed by H.E.R for The Six Triple Eight) and losing, Warren told told Variety at the Vanity Fair red carpet she'd be back writing songs the next day, and that she was determined to return to the Academy Awards again the following year.

"I'm the Terminator of the Oscars — I'll be back," Warren said. "That's in my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice. I'm coming back. You can't get rid of me."

Taylor Frankie Paul's tumultuous relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, has been a central storyline on her Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives

In 2023, she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault after she was arrested on allegations of domestic violence during an argument with Mortensen, with whom she shares a son

The former couple have been involved in another domestic assault investigation since February 2026

It's been a rough few years for Taylor Frankie Paul.

Despite rising to fame through MomTok and her hit Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the Utah mom of three has faced ongoing legal issues stemming from her volatile relationship with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.

A heated argument between the two in 2023 landed the TikTok influencer in court with multiple charges, including one for aggravated assault. Though Paul pleaded guilty to a felony count, she did so under a plea deal that would reduce the charge to a misdemeanor in three years if she abided by the agreement.

Weeks before her season of The Bachelorette was set to air, the former couple became involved in another domestic violence investigation that halted production on season 5 of Mormon Wives.

Here's a complete history of Taylor Frankie Paul's legal troubles and what she's said about her ongoing case.

Paul was arrested and charged with felony counts after an alleged domestic violence incident in 2023

On Feb. 17, 2023, Paul was arrested after Mortensen called police, claiming that she had been hitting him in front of her two children, whom she shares with ex-husband, Tate Paul.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported at the time that police obtained video of the altercation, which showed the reality star throwing "heavy metal chairs" in her ex-boyfriend's direction — one of which appeared to strike her then-5-year-old daughter.

Though court documents state that Paul admitted to throwing the chairs, she claimed during a September 2025 appearance on Call Her Daddy that she "never" hurt her daughter or "intentionally did anything" with her children.

In March 2025, she was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault and two felony counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, along with one misdemeanor count each of child abuse and criminal mischief.

The Bachelorette lead entered a plea in abeyance in August 2023 to a third-degree felony count of aggravated assault. According to court documents, if Paul adhered to the terms of her plea agreement for three years, then the charge would be entered as a Class A misdemeanor.

Under the terms of her probation, Paul cannot consume any alcohol or illegal drugs, per court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Her four other charges were dismissed with prejudice.

TMZ broke the news on March 15 that filming for season 5 of Mormon Wives had halted due to a major fight between Paul and Mortensen. Days later, a spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department confirmed that there is an open "domestic assault investigation" regarding the former couple and that "allegations have been made in both directions."

The investigation has been ongoing since at least Feb. 24, which was when the spokesperson claimed contact was made with one of the involved parties.

Though Paul hasn't touched on any of the specific details regarding her ongoing domestic assault allegation, she did open up about the "hard" timing of it all — considering that her season of The Bachelorette is set to air on March 22.

"Honestly, just like, my heart hurts to see it, to go through it, especially at this time," she told PEOPLE. "It's just heavy. It's a heavy time, and it's unfortunate. I'm struggling for sure, but also at the same time I feel like if I don't show up, then I'm just giving these opportunities away and not enjoying what we've worked on and something super exciting that's coming."

The reality star also told Entertainment Weekly that she cut off contact with Mortensen three weeks ago and that they are using a "third-party" to deal with "pick-up, drop-offs, communication." She also claimed she never intended to "bring anything to the public eye," suggesting that Mortensen had a different "plan."

A rep for the Mormon Wives cast member later denied that he was the reason the investigation was made public, telling Entertainment Weekly that "his number one priority here is protecting [their 1-year-old son], Ever."

"He knew there was a possibility it could come out, but he was not going to be the one to proactively do that because he has always wanted a decent relationship with Taylor," the rep added. "It's been really hard to achieve that, but he wants to co-parent well."

Kevin Bacon spoke to PEOPLE about returning to the director's chair after nearly 20 years at the SXSW premiere of Family Movie

"It was a pretty familiar place to step back into, and to have my partner co-direct with me was just great," he said

Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick co-directed and starred in the comedy horror alongside their two children, Sosie and Travis

Kevin Bacon got behind the camera for his new film starring his family.

During the premiere of Family Movie at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin on Friday, March 13, Bacon spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about returning to the director's chair for the first time in nearly 20 years for his latest project.

"It was a pretty familiar place to step back into, and to have my partner (Kyra Sedgwick) co-directing with me was just great because if I missed something or I slipped up or I forgot some detail, she was right there with it," Bacon, 67, told PEOPLE.

The Footloose star shared that his experience as an actor influenced his role as a director, saying, "I'm someone who's very sensitive to what their director is going through."

"People have said to me, 'Well, when you started directing, did you realize how hard it was?' " he continued. "You'd have to be an idiot to be on a set and not realize how hard it was. All you got to do is look and see. It's just hard."

The Hollywood power couple, who have been married since 1988, joined forces to direct and star in Family Movie alongside their two kids, Sosie Bacon, 33, and Travis Bacon, 36. The comedy horror film marks Kevin's first directorial role since his 2005 feature film Loverboy, in which he starred with Sedgwick and Sosie.

"We really both love what we do. I know that Kyra is never as happy as when she's directing, and I absolutely love acting and love directing," Bacon told The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere.

In Family Movie, the Bacons star as the Smiths, who "have gathered once again on their quaint family farm to make the latest in a string of low-budget horror movies," according to an official SXSW synopsis of the film. However, the family tradition takes a turn "when a real dead body shows up on set," and the Smiths descend into chaos.

Kevin described working with his family on the film as "magical" when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, while Sedgwick, 60, called the experience "sublime."

"It's always been easy, but it's been shockingly wonderful," the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress shared. "The whole time we were shooting, we kept going, 'God, this is just so great. This is so great.' When we were in prep, and as soon as we were all four of us together on site, it was better than I could have imagined."

"I've seen Kevin on set — I've seen the way he conducts himself on set, but watching the kids and the way they conducted themselves just as humans and colleagues and artists?" she continued. "It's very rare that, as a parent, especially of an adult child, you get to watch them in the world and how they behave with other people. They just behaved so well!"

She concluded by stating she "can't stop smiling about it." "We made something we're proud of on top of everything else — it's the icing on the cake," Sedwick noted.

Sosie told PEOPLE that she was excited to star in Family Movie as Ula Smith and work with her parents, saying, "[My dad] is great to work with. They both are."

"They're very respectful of your own process as an actor," she added. "They are both actors, so it's a lot easier to communicate, and I just had a great time."

Travis, who plays Trent Smith and composed the music for the film, shared that working on the project together was a new experience for the Bacon family, adding, "We can put this on our wall and reminisce about it."

Patrick Wilson of *The Conjuring* and *Aquaman* fame joins *The Last of Us* season 3 in an intriguing role, while *Matlock *star Jason Ritter will appear as a WLF soldier.

Wilson will play Jerry Anderson, ** has learned. Jerry is the father of Kaitlyn Dever's Abby and the Firefly surgeon Pedro Pascal's Joel Miller gunned down in his killing spree at the end of season 1.

Jerry is the whole impetus for the show's current storyline; his death prompted Abby to hunt down and kill Joel, which then caused Bella Ramsey's Ellie to launch into a retaliatory vengeance mission.

The InSneider was the first to report the news.

Darren Dolynski played the role of Mr. Anderson in the season 1 finale, but he remained behind a surgeon's mask. Wilson's casting in the role signals that season 3 will make a similar narrative choice to the video games. In 2020's *The Last of Us Part II*, Abby's narrative includes a particular flashback to her childhood with her dad.

Derek Phillips prominently played Jerry Anderson in *The Last of Us Part II*.

*The Last of Us* season 2 focused on Ellie's cross-country journey with Dina (Isabela Merced) to track down Abby and her crew through Seatlle. The finale ended on a cliffhanger confrontation between Ellie and Abby before flashing back to now chronicle the same amount of time but from Abby's perspective.

This marks Wilson's return to HBO after playing significant roles in the 2003 miniseries adaptation of *Angels in America* and a guest-starring role on *Girls* season 3. He was most recently seen on the big screen in *The Conjuring: Last Rites*, which closed out his run as demonologist Ed Warren opposite Vera Farmiga as wife Lorraine Warren.

Ritter previously played an infected, known as a "Clicker," in season 1, when his wife, Melanie Lynskey, starred on the horror series. He plays WLF soldier Hanley in season 3.

Wilson and Ritter join Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as a newcomer to the cast in season 3. Lendeborg Jr. subs in for Danny Ramirez, who left his post as Manny due to scheduling conflicts.

HBO head Casey Bloys signaled the* Last of Us* season 3 premiere is "definitely planned for 2027."

Craig Mazin now serves as the sole showrunner and lead writer on the adaptation after developing the first two seasons with game co-creator Neil Druckmann. Druckmann announced he was stepping back to focus on making the next big video game for his gaming home at Naughty Dog, but he's still staying on as an executive producer.

"Co-creating the show has been a career highlight," he said in a statement released in 2025. "It's been an honor to work alongside Craig Mazin to executive produce, direct, and write on the last two seasons. One of the art world's biggest modern mysteries may have just been solved.

A new report claims to have once-and-for-all unmasked the elusive graffiti artist Banksy, who has been operating under complete anonymity since the early 1990s.

The investigation, published Friday by Reuters, combs through and eventually sets aside some of the buzzier theories as to the "Girl with Balloon" artist's true identity. Is he the Massive Attack frontman Robert Del Naja? Or the street artist Thierry Guetta, also known as Mr. Brainwash, who was the subject of the Oscar-nominated documentary *Exit Through the Gift Shop*, which Banksy directed and — completely disguised, of course — also featured in?

After nearly three decades of speculation, journalists Simon Gardner, James Pearson, and Blake Morrison claim "beyond dispute" that Banksy is a man named Robin Gunningham.

The final identification started with a clue from *Banksy Captured*, a 2019 memoir from Steve Lazarides, who managed the artist from the late 1990s through 2008. The year that book was published, Lazarides posted a photo from 2000 of an "aborted Banksy work" to his Instagram — a defaced Marc Jacobs billboard in New York City that was left incomplete after authorities allegedly arrested the artist.

Police documents and a court file relating to the arrest that Reuters unearthed repeatedly make reference to Gunningham — who signed his own name at the bottom of a written confession.

Though police sought to charge Gunningham with a felony, he was released and the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor after posting $1,500 bail, temporarily turning over his passport, and completing five days of community service.

Gunningham lived for a time at New York City's legendary Carlton Arms Hotel, which he listed as his primary residence on a bail form. He painted walls and even an entire room there in exchange for board, signing them "Robin Banks," shortened later to Banksy.

This isn't the first time Gunningham has been suspected as the real hand behind the mysterious graffiti artist. *The Daily Mail *pointed the finger at Gunningham in 2008, the same year he legally changed his name to David Jones. But suspicions persisted around figures like Del Naja, Guetta, and British politician Billy Gannon.

Banksy started out as a guerrilla artist whose quickly rendered, stencil-like illustrations with an often highly political charge garnered him instant notoriety. He has made work in innocuous corners of major metropolitan cities like London and New York City, but has also become known for provocative illustrations left in conflict zones like Ukraine and the Palestinian West Bank.

His work is owned by the likes of Brad Pitt and Chris Martin.

One of his most iconic works, "Girl with Balloon," sold at a London auction in 2018 for $1.4 million. Minutes after the sale was finalized, the work publicly self-destroyed via a shredding device hidden inside the frame. Renamed "Love is in the Bin," the work sold three years later for a record $25.4 million.
