Fantasy Hockey Goalie Report: Connor Hellebuyck's return, Tristan Jarry's hot play and more

Corey Abbott Mon, November 2, 2026 at 4:47 PM UTC · 4 min read About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Finding dependable goaltending can be challenging. However, fantasy hockey managers can benefit from riding the hot hand while avoiding the cold ones, managing the schedule and making roster changes to fill short- and long-term needs.

Connor Hellebuyck, NJD: Hellebuyck showed no signs of rust in his first two appearances of the 2026-27 campaign last week after being traded from the Jets to the Devils. He surrendered only three goals on 39 shots in wins over Dallas and Vegas. New Jersey plays four times this week, including a back-to-back, and Hellebuyck could get three starts.

Tristan Jarry, EDM: Jarry has made 42 combined saves in back-to-back shutout wins after surrendering nine goals on 58 shots in two straight defeats. He has a 4-1-2 record, a 2.53 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage in seven appearances this season. Jarry could start all three of Edmonton's games this week, as Devon Levi continues to recover from an undisclosed injury.

Akira Schmid, FLA: Schmid has stopped 65 of 70 shots during his three-game winning streak. He improved to 5-2-1 with a 2.86 GAA and an .889 save percentage in eight outings this season. Florida plays four times this week, including home games against Detroit on Monday and Chicago on Wednesday. Schmid is a solid option if he remains Florida's go-to goalie, but that could change quickly with Jacob Markstrom nearing a return from an upper-body injury.

Ilya Sorokin, NYI: It's been a challenging stretch for the usually solid Sorokin. He is 1-2-0 in his last three outings, allowing 12 goals on 86 shots. It won't get any easier this week if he plays against Carolina on Thursday. However, he has played very well against Saturday's opponent, New Jersey, dating back to 2024-25 and earned a 37-save shutout win over the Devils on Oct. 3 this season. It likely won't be long before Sorokin turns it around.

Sergei Bobrovsky, TOR: Bobrovsky played poorly in losses to Seattle and Calgary last week, allowing eight goals on 49 shots. He has surrendered at least three goals in nine of his 10 appearances this season. Bobrovsky hasn't been making it easy on his teammates, and Anthony Stolarz has been far more dependable. The Maple Leafs may give Stolarz a chance to string together some starts to avoid losing ground in a highly competitive Atlantic Division.

Jet Greaves, CBJ: Greaves has given up 10 goals on 62 shots during his three-game losing skid. He has a 1-5-0 record, a 3.13 GAA and an .883 save percentage in his last seven appearances. Cam Talbot won two games before Greaves started the last two contests. Talbot will likely make at least one appearance this week, as the Blue Jackets play against Dallas and Buffalo on Thursday and Friday, respectively. Talbot could start to eat more into Greaves' playing time if the latter continues to struggle.

Teams with four games: ANA, CGY, CHI, COL, DET, FLA, NJD, PIT, SJS, TBL, VGK

Teams with three games: BOS, BUF, CAR, CBJ, DAL, EDM, MIN, MTL, NSH, NYR, PHI, STL, TOR, UTA, VAN, WPG

Teams with back-to-backs: ANA, CHI, COL, DET, FLA, NJD, PIT, SJS, TBL, VGK, CBJ, MIN, TOR

The Ducks put Lukas Dostal and Ville Husso on notice by calling up Laurent Brossoit to play against Ottawa on Sunday. Anaheim's goaltending has struggled this season. If Brossoit returns to the minors, Dostal could get three of the Ducks' four contests this week. However, that situation could get complicated if the team carries three goaltenders on the roster.

With a day off between each game, Dustin Wolf could get the nod for all four of Calgary's contests. Devin Cooley is week-to-week and was moved to injured reserve with a lower-body injury.

With each having four-game weeks, Colorado's Mackenzie Blackwood, Chicago's Spencer Knight, Detroit's John Gibson, Pittsburgh's Arturs Silovs, San Jose's Yaroslav Askarov and Tampa Bay's Andrei Vasilevskiy could get three starts apiece.

Tristan Jarry, EDM (40% rostered): As previously mentioned, Jarry has been heating up, and fantasy managers should take advantage. The 31-year-old Jarry has battled inconsistency, but he makes plenty of sense as a pickup until Levi returns. Edmonton faces New Jersey, Anaheim and Vancouver this week, and Jarry could get the nod for all three contests.

Dustin Wolf, CGY (24% rostered): Wolf is a risky pickup, but he is coming off a 20-save performance in a 6-2 win over Seattle on Friday. With Cooley sidelined, Wolf will likely be in the crease against the Sharks, Kraken, Ducks and Flyers this week. That's plenty of volume for fantasy managers who need goalie starts, and all are winnable for the red-hot Flames. Calgary concluded October with a 5-2-0 record.
