An athlete who has won 11 national men's titles, qualified for Paralympics 400m women's semi-final at the age of 51 on Monday, after the sport's governing body accepted the athlete's eligibility to compete. Italian Valentina Petrillo, a father-of-two who was still competing at 45 as a male and claims an entitlement to enter the female category for the sake of 'happiness', came second in her heat, in which she beat a Chinese runner who is 18 years younger than her.
