UK Sport | Chelsea stars Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso compete in bake off but Blues skipper cooks up ‘complete disaster’
CESAR AZPILIUETA may have finished in the top 30 world's best players on Monday night \- but his baking skills clearly leave a lot to be desired. The Chelsea captain came joint-29th in Ballon d'Or voting, five of his team-mates coming in the top 12 and Chelsea stars Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta show off their baking skills \- with one clearly better than the other... On a successful night for the Blues, Thomas Tuchel's side were also named Club of the Year after winning the Champions League, Edouard Mendy came second in the Goalkeeper of the Year voting and Sam Kerr, Pernille Harder, Jessie Fleming and Frank Kirby made the top ten in the women's award. But while Azpilicueta and Co are having great success on the pitch, where they currently sit top of the Premier League, he was struggling in the kitchen. Alongside fellow Spaniard Marcos Alonso and BBC Radio 1 host Chris Star, Azpilicueta stuck his apron on for Three's latest #ConnectWith video. And it's safe to say Alonso's cake left a lot to be desired \- visually at least. While Alonso impressed with his pipe work on the lion of the club badge, Azpilicueta couldn't even manage to spell out the word Chelsea. Azpi said: ...I was very bad. Very bad... and Alonso added: ...I think it was a complete disaster!... The German said: "Yes. Yes we have 'enough cover for Chilwell....First of all we have Marcos, who started the season for us when Chilly was in a bit of trouble and a difficult moment for him. ...We trust him. Marcos is very experienced. ... 'Chilwell and Alonso ' compete for one position, which is the left wing-back position, and suddenly if one has a longer injury like Ben now it can suddenly seem that you don't have enough.... Tuchel says he also also prepared to play Callum Hudson-Odoi as a left wing-back if needed given the heavy fixture schedule in December and January. He added: ...If you look at the schedule it seems like 'Oh, does Marcos have to play every three days?' Is that possible? Maybe not. ...I think we still have Callum, who can play on the left side as a wing-back, and we have other ideas we can maybe try. ...But first of all Marcos is the one in charge.
